This is probably for commercial sites. And people who have little to say but want to look good. Most bloggers write their blogs as hobbies and they are screwed by this. What a royal PITA to have to create a block every time I want a paragraph or a heading or a list or a photo. What they are saying is that I can no longer just create on the fly. I'm forced to create my content elsewhere and then copy and paste it into blocks. Maybe it is to reduce the load on the editor server? In the old editor, you just wrote stuff and inserted pictures and videos along the way and you were happy. I'm willing to bet that 90% of all blogs are just a lot of text with pictures and not done for profit. The old editor was perfect. I can understand developing a block editor but I do not understand taking away the existing editor as an option. And of course, they did it without a warning that "on a certain date a month from now..." it would be gone. It was just gone. What they are calling the "classic" editor now requires a plugin, won't be around for long, and is nowhere near as easy to use as the editor they took away. I think the intent is to ditch the amateurs and go commercial all the way.
