Pumping concrete with the trailer pump. Using the line pump to place concrete on this pool deck. Here we come across fiberglass rebar. I was told it had a higher tensile strength and longer life span than steel rebar. Will see. Lol.

That fiberglass rebar will stop concrete cancer, caused by rusty rebar. I suspect it is expensive but better to use than steel.

I live in North-East Iowa. We have been using fiberglass rebar in livestock floors for years. I mean like 20+ years. The main advantage is it does not rust. The corrosion from manure makes regular rebar rust and busts the concrete.

We have looked into the fiberglass reinforcement. Lighter, smaller size to equal same strength, and cheaper for the same strength comparison. Draw backs fiberglass so you have to be careful handling it as well as cutting. It doesn't bend so corner bars have to be made. Alot of municipalities dont know anything about it so getting an inspection could require a engineers stamp. We have looked into it and would be a consideration if more readily accepted. A little more of a problem for doing walls when it doesn't bend.

Hey Jeff , That fiber glass rebar, don't know about that one !! If you properly elevate the steel by using chairs or some guys use those cement bricks and break them in half , and keep people from walking all over the steel . . LOL Like that's going to happen , those plastic chairs are for show for the inspectors, once they're gone , most come out . Raise the steel , get some concrete under it , then let it go Seen a lot of jobs like that one , lots of hand work , hose pullin, Lucky you could take of sections Some jobs you can't do that , but most pumpers over here used 50' hoses instead of your 25's Although they do have assorted sizes to use , they start as 50' Rub or wear a hose , cut out the bad spot , put new ends on where you cut But if you got a sida can, some time wire. And duck tape, it can usually get you thru the job . Watched you making bacon today, your pops usually out there helping you, he doin ok ?? Watch Bill's channel too , he usually comments on my posts , but you must be keeping him pretty busy as he hasnt been able too lately Well take care Brother !! I'd be willin to do a scientific taste test on that there bacon for you To make sure if its consumable. But it might take me 3 or 4 pounds to come up with a proper assessment ! Lol BigMike

"those plastic chairs are for show for inspectors"? Those plastic chairs and dobies are called out per engineering spec, they're part of the build.."once they're gone you take them out"? Really, is that how you boys operate, that's fucked up bro. I packed iron for 30 yrs in So Cal and that shit doesn't fly here. Go ahead, keep videotaping all that iron and mesh laying on the ground, one of these days an owners gonna look at his video and see that what was promised per plan wasn't delivered. Do the job, do it right.
@BigMike67
@BigMike67 3 жыл бұрын
@@roddiener WHAT ?? Yes the plastic chairs , usually get stomped into the ground , knocked over or whatever. Part of the build ?? They are designed to keep the steel up off the dirt . There is nothing structural about them . You can block the steel up , use chairs or rocks or whatever. Most pull up the steel as they go . Not many guys tip toe around the steel . So yes , the plastic chairs are usually for show for the inspectors, who like everything to look pretty , to show the steel is off the ground That's all . As long as you pull the steel up and make sure concrete gets underneath your good !! Steel / mesh lying around ?? See that on every job , doesn't mean the slab is sub par or anything
@roddiener
@roddiener 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigMike67 ok, ubu, like I said, that kind of work doesn't fly on the west coast. We find all our call outs for clearances, tolerances, coverage in The General Notes in the Structurals when placing iron, inspection out here is tight, they don't mess around, they watch pours, you get 20 finishers stomping all over shit, breaking chairs, collapsing rebar, they'll stop the poor and make whoever fix whatever. I've worked dozens of high rise PT decks and inspectors measure profiles on cable runs, deck clearances for rebar, top clearances, side/edge of deck clearances, that shit matters, but if you're just pouring slab on grade for someone's garage, do what ya want, it's all show right?

We’ve used some of that fiber bar. Definitely lighter. About 15% more expensive. Our advantage was no bonding inspections here in Okc market. The city was 3-4 weeks on inspections! Then the city decided they didn’t like it. Cost me about $8k and 4 months of delays on two projects. This was after they passed multiple pools & pool decks. Can’t fight the govt though. We won’t be using it in this market any longer. Guys hated it too because the amount of fiberglass in their clothes. They also make pre-bent 90’s in that material.

Running a batch truck , I could shut or block off the rock , mix a auger full of slurry and then put into pump They would prop cone up , fill to bottom of hopper seat with water. At slurry, drop cone , start pumping , works every time Some use those slick packs, one guy had this stuff in a tube like tooth paste, put a little squirt on hopper wall then added water , and it foamed up and made a lot of suds Some would get a 5 gal bucket of Portland out of the trucks cement bin , mix with water then pour into hopper behind the water You dont need a lot , just enough to slick the hoses
