I'm surprised that Behringer didn't rip off a better microphone. The Pyle is accurately named.

Surely worst Mic of all time is: Blue Snowball. Top end is horrific. Almost sounds as bad as an internal laptop Mic. Comes with a stand designed to be on your desk to maximize desk noise and computer fan noise. You will also knock the stand over and send the Mic flying. What kind of clown 🤡 marketing Dept designed the Blue Snowball?

Yeah...I guess I didn't mention in this...I was only focused on xlr mics. There are a LOT of usb mics that would scuttle the bottom up...lol

@@DarkCornerStudios I am a LibriVox volunteer and we make "microphone shoot outs". We take every microphone on earth and make massive lists of readings to show what they sound like. We've done about three of these. We don't rank them. We just make the list.

i have 2 old behringer's 1800s from Germany and they look different from what you have . even the capsule is completely different with a hard metal grill and chrome ring around it. it sounds okey, not the best but a lot better the a standard $30 mic. in comparison i have a Proel DM800 that is a lot worse and more expensive than the behringer.

I've used the pyle one live for years and it's never done anything but get the job done. I'm sure it's not a great microphone compared to most but for a penny pincher like me it's good enough. Dig the video and the review though. Party on

I wonder how the low end Shure mics compare to these, like the PG48 and PG58. I had friends buy them just because they're "Shure". I said they might've been better off buying an XM8500. I wasn't certain though.
@DarkCornerStudios
@DarkCornerStudios 2 ай бұрын
The 48 isn't bad...more clarity and better off axis rejection and coloration than the xm8500...but nowhere near as bad as these two

I've got both the XM8500 and the SM48. Buy the Behringer. The Behringer stands up well, when comparing them. Shure is riding on its brand name, at this point in time. (PS: I also have and SM57, and the Behringer, stands up well against it, too. I also like the Behringer BA 58a. It has a little more clarity than the XM8500 has. I actually like the BA 58a better than the XM8500.)

What if you melted a candle or hot glue stick into the hollow handle? Would that deaden the resonance/handling? Not that you want to spend another minute with either of these mics, but you already have them, and they couldn't get worse... right?

@@DarkCornerStudios I have hot wax around for lubricating bike chains so I filled an 1800s with wax-soaked dryer lint. It reduced handling noise significantly. Also, no audible resonance. Didn't improve anything else.

Hilarious. I like both the Behringer XM1800s and the Pyle PDMIC58 (I use this one on gigs.) With some EQ, either of those mics can sound just fine. The difference between dynamic mics is just way over blown. The science for making them is well known. They can make them inexpensively, and make them sound good. The need for a brand name is the psychological issue, here. I'll put a link to an XM1800s, with some EQ. It sounds very good. By the way the PDMIC58 is good at feedback rejection because it doesn't overly emphazise the highs. It's quite a nice little mic. Here is the EQ'd Behringer XM1800s (I included the EQ Graph.) kzbin.infoGXwteBZZTCw Put on a pair of good headphones when listening to this demo. The goal in EQ'ing, was clarity. (PS: You're wrong about the impedance of the Pyle Mic. It has an output impedance of 600 Ohms. That doesn't make it a high impedance mic. That makes it a medium impedance mic. And the fact that it's connection is an XLR, with no soldered wire bridge between pin 1 and Pin 3 (or Pin 2) means that it has a differential output.) The bridging (to ground one of the sine waves, is done inside the cable, not the mic.) So, this mic, the Pyle is perfectly capable of driving a standard differential input (XLR) on a mixer, digital interface, etc.

Any thoughts on a mic for wildlife (without a parabolic).? Under $500 and nothing I would hold you to, I was just curious if you might have any ideas.

@jenky1044 I mean...outside of parabolic...it doesn't really matter. Condenser most likely to pick up the nuances...but I don't think you are going to necessarily find one muc to be better suited to nature
