To me, the 440 sounded like it had more low end sound, a fuller sound. I liked the 440 sounded better but the auto gain feature is really nice.

sm58 > e835 > d5 > xm8500 the e835 is too bright, but it's in a somewhat pleasing/airy way at least. the d5 is similarly too bright, but in a more harsh/annoying way . sm58 isn't perfect but sounds great with your voice, maybe just SLIGHTLY too boomy . the behringer sounded "cheap"

I have to agree: There isn't another company like Rode. What they make, they make well with such a commitment to quality that it's hard to put them down. I know there are some that will pooh-pooh the price of this unit, but I think you touch upon something ... it's fun. Seriously. I'm a straight audio podcaster who at this juncture can record a show by using about five different methods, and they all work fine. A lot of that is thanks to Rode, who offers top flight QC as opposed to the crap shoot that is, well, a lot of brands you bump into doing the Micro Center stroll. So, does everyone NEED to run out and buy this? It depends on your needs - but I'm certainly not gonna blast anyone for rushing to get the Rodecaster Video, because it very well be the key to producing seamless presentations in the type of quality I'd wager most of us seek.

I've had a play around with the new virtual cables, and as cool as it is, there is a huge limiting factor still present when using OBS. Since OBS will see the 4 virtual cables as 1 multimedia channel. This will limit you If your goal is to have each audio source recorded onto individual tracks for post balancing or removal of any audio (music, discord, etc) during editing, to do this you will need to stick to the old method of capturing audio over the 3 physical channels. I may have missed something in either OBS or the setup that allows OBS to see the 4 virtual cables, But from my testing it doesn't seem like there is a way. Would love for someone to prove me wrong.

I had to comment on this! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF WORK that went into this!!! WOW! Whether the list agrees with our personal taste or experiences,..who gives a flip!?!?!?! This is a fantastic list and really I think it couldn't be more fair and honest than it already is! I'm a big RE27 user as well as my backups to it, my RE20 and CM4 and it was cool to see the RE27 on the list. The fact that all of the links are provided to where these mics can be found and purchased is OUTSTANDING! Thanks for doing this!

Be more careful than shown here if the foam is a few years old already as it loses most of its flexibility and integrity over time. I also suggest using a finer brush, the one in the video is a really hard ESD nylon brush. I personally would also skip the tape step, as it leaves sticky residue behind (even if you don't see or feel it) which ironically just attracts more dust and debris. ,

I have cam link 4k I had a elgato wave mic that was not happy with hate elgato software. Wanted to go big! so did get a bridge cast X and Rode PodMic(XLR) version. The sad part is the bridge cast X did not work i had issue with it softer problems. Spent 10 hour just troubleshooting it. So 24 hours later I ship it back to amazon. Now I am hunt for new mixer and Rode one again might be on the table. my setup was about the same as yours. I just wanted a mixer so that i could separate one track to the stream and one for me to adjust things easy. Also bridge cast x had some funny things like "fake" voices and many fun features. But horrible to find info for it. I say hell no!

Tbh the fact they said in their own words that there’s “patented noise suppression algorithm we apply non-destructive analysis of the preamp noise to the audio signal, essentially eliminating all noise on the preamp.” Then they tell you there is no noise suppression lol. So which is it. They lying or don’t want to admit it could be or is their fault lol 😅. Even if I’m the end for most people this won’t matter to much for most content creators, you are still giving an objective perspective and testing on different types of scenarios and mics which is always useful to know. The only issue is them lying about it sadly 😢when even they themselves advertise it on their site as noise suppression at the preamp level

Love the video and the info! One thing I would change for future videos is that at 3:43, when you're showing you searching for the Rode Beta Program, you should zoom in or make the UI larger so your video isn't 90% white space. Simplest way is to just hold Control and scroll up. Record what you need to, then you can revert back with Control and scroll down. It's not a huge thing on PC, but someone using their phone will never be able to see what is on your screen as the site is like 4 pixels wide. 😆

I've been using mine as a field mic as well as a handheld wireless option for my livestreaming on social media. LOVE IT!! Not crazy about the battery being built in and not replaceable, but that is my sole criticism. Once the battery's life ends, the mic ends as well. Unless Rode offers to replace the battery for a fee, the way Apple does for example.

Not to be nitpicky, but I see you're on Windows 11. In W11 sometimes there's additional noise canceling and "Audio Enhancements" to the default audio input source that must be disabled within your windows audio settings to have a truly unaffected signal. I have sometimes found this enabled by default when using outboard headsets and microphones. I don't know enough about this setting to know if it is activated when using a Beacn Studio, but it's possible that recording via the windows default audio input in your DAW is adding additional processing to your signal when recording. I know that Beacn Mix Create can define your default input but I'm not sure if the Beacn Studio can (or if you used these together in testing). Not sure what triggers its availability as an option, but as I didn't see this covered in your video I thought it'd be worth mentioning 😊 I work in AV/UC and recently discovered this when these settings were interfering with the default noise cancellation built into Teams/Zoom in conjunction with third party headsets. Multiple expanders/gates across apps has led to some frustrated end users lol. Not sure why Microsoft included these effects on Windows OS level AND Teams, but Microsoft gonna Microsoft... Seems like everything that touches your mic signal these days has some level of ANC/gating/"AI" and they don't play nicely with each other when combined while on a call or during recording sessions. It could totally be a bad marketing rug pull by Beacn too to be fair. Just wanted to add my two cents 👍 www.elevenforum.com/t/enable-or-disable-audio-enhancements-in-windows-11.8426/#:~:text=This%20tutorial%20will%20show%20you%20how

6 stereo outputs is great, best in class even. But IMO the inputs are too sparse on USB 1, as in the inputs you see in Windows or macOS. You're always going to dedicate one to your mic isolated, for chatting apps, so that leaves you with single configurable input. I'd like to be able to isolate the audio from USB 1 on an input, as well as Bluetooth. But with only one input you have to go with bringing USB 1 (game pc), or doing a "stream mix" which is less than ideal for OBS with multi-channel outputs.

Can you mute the microphone inputs during a live stream? Example, we currently use the Rode Caster Duo plugged into an ATEM mini Pro to live stream high school baseball games. during the breaks in between innings we mute the broadcasts headsets and leave the stadium mic on. Then once play resumes we unmute and start calling the game again. Is this possible through the new Rode Video?

Nice showcase. I think this is a great product as it replaces an XLR /Wireless audio interface, a flexible HDMI switcher and for many use cases, it also replaces OBS. The only items it seems to be missing are SDI capability, NDI ingest and Bitfocus Companion support. The footprint looks smaller than my ATEM Mini Pro and GO XLR audio interface combined. If Companion isn't supported though, this would be the dealbreaker for me.

Learn your vocals. Learn your voice power and tone. Now in a open space you’ll need a foam block behind or surrounding the microphone doesn’t have to be big or use shirts or towels and or inside a closet full of clothes works great, I have even dropped my yeti from 5ft high and it still works great. Don’t let this guys scare you away. He may be soiled up about them but they work great. USB microphones help a lot for ppl on the go and for ppl who aren’t wealthy af. The Man of Gold is real love beats hate and yes if we all had options for the best equipment we would take it but for limited option type ppl usb microphones especially the BLUE YETI. Work great. Learn how to posture or position your self when speaking or singing or screaming. Look up the best way to use a microphone or usb microphone to understand how to handle them properly or complain and post a unnecessary video stating you hate them like this guy
