To be real some people really really should be using it. Particularly some of my clients who are photographers first and haven't quite grasped the concept if audio. For them this is a Godsend. It also allows competent cameramen to focus on the shots and not worry about "is the audio level ok? " Often the last question is only answered in post, when its too late.

I hate having mics or headphones, or anything that I think should be behind the scenes in shots, so I've been using the Elgato low profile arm since it came out. I love it. I've flipped my upper arm over so the cable tray is accessed from underneath and just use velcro cable straps to keep it on. I have the straps on the lower arm too just in case the cover ever does want to pop off, but I don't really have that problem with the flexible cables I use.

The Saramonic can record up to 10hrs of Audio. I shoot commercials a lot and we’re never recording that much audio or anywhere near it. I like having the time code. I think this would be the best bet for most people. If you do long docs or movies then the Rode is good.

And its exeptionaly lightwight. I had to carry rodcaster pro in my backpack sometimes (its like 3 laptops), but with P4 I could record my remote interviews almost any time any place. Just stoped the car and ready in 3 minutes. It really helped scheduling interviews in more relaxed way so I dont have to be at some stationary unit to record them. All the bas boosts and other effects and filters rodecaster uses in during recording one can easily have in postproduction. And the file system on SD card is mor comfy. You dont need to have 16 track edit software as it is for rodecaster.

I’d love to see a portable device that has two usb c ports similar to the RCP2. I finally sold the RCP2 as it had a major flaw with my M1 Mac that only affected me apparently. I’m now with the Zoom L6. Two of them. They are awesome. Yet I miss two usb c ports. I get it. I’m in a very niche case messing with iPads. One can wish!

I took a chance on this unit. I have it hooked up to a Minis Forum mini PC with Linux installed. Primarily because the audio output on this PC wouldn't work with Linux. This interface does work with it. Kinda wild. My line outs do work.

I think the first mic for vocals HAS to be Shure PGA58... It's 50$, and you will find it really really really hard to replace with any 100$ mic. I ve recently tried and returned the 650$ SM58 wireless. No one at my karaoke party liked it compared to PGA58. SE V7 Comes close, i might keep it, it's on probation 😂

@squirrel6687Күн бұрын
It isn't USB class compliant. Macs will not let you use devices requiring additional drivers that are not part of the kernel (probably to thwart Nvidia). That means Android and Linux may require additional drivers that may or may not be available. They might be, however for Android or Linux based operating systems, as China has really invested in it.

So glad you reviewed a product from this brand! I came across Depusheng (and their DE8) when working in Southeast Asia. It's one of the brands that beat out "western" brands quite easily in the beginner, prosumer and corporate audio sector as far as I could tell. I like exploring "unknown" Chinese and Japanese brands and many win out over Røde/Focusrite/Shure/etc because they are either objectively better, or cheaper, or with better customer service (when in for example Singapore) or a combo of all three. I have an Teyun audio interface on the way for a travel kit because of recommendations from SEA-based collaborators (they got me hooked on Tascam). I'll let you know my thoughts on the Teyun once it's arrived. My biggest concern with some of these brands is that much of the gear has not, and would not, be approved according to (in my case) EU electrical safety standards. Burning Down The House is better as a song title than the result of dodgy wiring 🤓
@mfkrwillКүн бұрын
Always like seeing reviews of weird off brand gear like these. The 7b didnt sound bad at all. Cool that it has 4 inputs (though doesnt sound like thats a usable function if i interpretted your review right) Though in my budget experience id probably still look at the behringer uphoria, or maybe even the Cad interfaces. Ive used both and were surprisingly solid

"Macs don't even recognize this thing even being plugged in". Never have I been happier to be a Mac user. A USB-B 4-input XLR audio device that falsely claims to be at 192khs and that only will do a stereo output? Think I'll do a hard pass.

I use the free demo version of FL, but you can't save projects. I usually finish projects but sometimes if I'm unmotivated I just leave the tab siting there and then my computer randomly resets and I lose all my work. So I've been searchign for a free DAW, I tried reaper and producing seems really hard there and so is cakewalk.

Good to know budget low noise is available. I have avoided all Temu audio so far, except for the electronic power amp modules, which I build into robots. Even there, the quality control is about 90/10 (order 10, 9 work). They don't even sell that one in europe. Thanks.

Its mad to think that a bunch of school kids in a garage could pick up one of these, four bm800s, stick Audacity on Dads old laptop and produce something that sounds acceptable for less than $100 US. Morality of the vendor aside, I love how access to audio equipment for everyone continues to improve.

I've cut Zoom a big break when my H5 plastic became a sticky mess, and they replaced the entire unit for free...even though it was well beyond warranty. The UI isn't great. The lack of built-in BT or app control is sad, and the battery life is horrid (when using phantom power, at least). I do wish Roland would update their field recorders, as I found that their microphones are superior to both Tascam and Zoom's offerings.

If you have an older version with discrete components, you can just remove capacitor C35 and you will instantly have much much much (so much) better sounding pedal. It has something to do with the hardwired EQ which cannot be dialed out using the EQ controls. But with that particular capacitor gone, it becomes more flexible and you can really take advantage of the EQ section to shape the tone . Since everything is SMT now, it would be really really nice if Boss would do us a solid and eliminate that C35.

I was investigating this stand for use with a person that does not have use of their arms and is in a wheel chair. He's currently using a cheap podium mic with a 22" reach. What is the maximum reach of this stand/mic with the Rode PodMic attached? I am looking for something that is at least 22"
@DarkCornerStudios2 күн бұрын
Sadly no...even at its best without tipping over, the stand wouldnt be close to 22" Are boom arms out of the question if they can be setup at a specific distance and not moved?
