What is Thin Endometrium and Why is it a Problem?

Dr. Nisha Bhatnagar led this video and explained about thin endometrium and why this is the problem. The model of the uterus comprises three layers: superficial, middle, and basal and superficial layers shed out during the periods. The third layer is responsible for growing to respond to the hormones. The endometrium grows and increases to 8 to 12 millimeters in the meter of the cycle. The endometrium produces progesterone and another chemical to develop the implantation lining during fertilization.
These are linked with a higher chance of pregnancy. Several diseases, such as TB, STC, dilation and curettage, adhesion, medical termination, and other kinds of infections, can cause endometrial thinning, which might happen in the uterus or the pelvic cavity. Treatment can be necessary if there is a history of tuberculosis. Sometimes, the reason is that the eggs are not producing enough estrogen, which makes the endometrium thin. Simple tests like provana are given to the patients. Moreover, if someone is taking OC pills for a more extended period, then the endometrium might get thin, and sometimes doctors give clomiphene tablets to make ovulation.
How to know:
After 12 to 14 days of the cycle, if the endometrium is 7 millimeters, that justifies that the patient is not dealing with thin endometrium. This plays an important role, as it is the best component of a good and healthy pregnancy. It offers food supply to the embryo, and endometrium less than 7 mm can cause to miscarriages, abortion or less chances of childbirth rate.
Treatments of endometrium:
If the causes include egg quality and deficient estrogenic supply, these can be treated with the help of medications. If the causes are because of infection or D&C, the hysteroscopy process is used, where a camera is put inside to sample the endometrium and test the infection or TB. If the reason is a damaged basal layer, which is a difficult situation, then G-CSF, stem cells, and therapy treatment can be done where the patient is given medication for 3 to 4 months.
If the patient doesn’t respond to the estrogenic therapy, then the natural cycle is used on them. This includes the transfer of frozen embryos, where the egg secretes to make the lining good and trigger the right point.
Doctors examine several things while checking the endometrium, including thickness, appearance, and blood supply. The zones can be checked based on blood flow, whereas zone 4 describes the stage with a higher chance of getting pregnant.
Natural ways to enhance endometrium lining:
