I would do this proposed trade. While I understand that DLo is the more skilled point guard overall compared to Dennis, Dennis is having a better season, and we already know he tends to perform better in the playoffs. Ideally, I’d like to keep Wood because the numbers show the Lakers are better when he’s on the floor. However, either way, I’d make this trade. The Lakers would finally get a 3-and-D wing who can guard positions 2-4 and is currently shooting 40% from three, all while keeping Rui and Vando. This move would make the Lakers a bigger team overall, and Vando can take his time getting healthy. I see more pros than cons for the Lakers in this trade. They would still have another first-round pick, multiple pick swaps, and three second-round picks to pursue a solid backup center.

If the concern is what these players coming back could be worth down the road, then I’d trade out Dennis for Dayron Sharpe. It will likely require adding maybe two more 2nds to the trade, but at least the Lakers receive players that fill a need now, and you get a solid young brushing productive big man in return.

@hunter-zp2hf that's utter nonsense. Schroeder is good, but he is 6'1''. Having Pat Bev defend wings was already nuts. Now you are telling me an even smaller Schroeder can do it? Of course not. DFS was a good defender 5 years ago. Dallas got rid of him, because he was too slow and couldn't defend anybody any more. The guy gets 0.8 steals in 30 minutes and has a defensive rating that is worse than the average of the bad defensive team he is on. He has only been defending power forwards for a year now and still finished -100 on plusminus. Now he also shoots 35% and scores 8 points. What problem does this move solve? Not one. Rui is a bad defender imo. His metrics are better than those of DFS across the board and Rui can shoot and drive and has a mid range game. Caruso wasn't easily replaceable at all. DG wasn't a bad player. KCP wasn't super inconsistent and now D'Lo isn't terrible either. There is absolutely nothing crazy about saying you are not getting a defensive wing back and trading away your best shooters for it. If this trade happens and LA gets worse, which it will then in 2 months you'll be saying start Max and DK, trade AD and LeBron and let's start the rebuild. In reality you are two solid wings away from being one of the best teams in the NBA right now. But with you dudes, we might be a trade away from hitting .250 again like when you guys convinced yourselves that we needed the young legs of AR and Stanley Johnson starting. But this channel and the fan base of this channel will without fail always support the worst possible decision and make up a lot of nonsense while claiming that it is in fact everyone that knows lineups and can evaluate a player fairly doesn't know basketball. Go back watch the show with the only real analyst that ever made it on this show. What did he tell us? One thing we haven't considered is how much of an asset a basketball mind like JJ can contribute to a trade deadline. Part of why we were so dominant in the past was Dr. Buss' vision and how he put together some teams that worked well together that weren't necessarily obvious ( think Pau or even further back trading Eddie Jones and keeping Kobe). I don't think Pelinka has that vision nor JJ for that matter but he will be a big improvement on just Pelinka. Best believe he will know 1st 2nd and 6th options for players that will work well in his system

Caruso was available and instead of immediately jumping on it, this channel was trying to get a center for 8 minutes behind AD and looking at everyone that made 8M+ for the job. And that list is a list of guys other teams have determined can't provide net positive stats or advanced metrics. You don't shore up a team with LBJ and AD at the 4 and 5 by getting 4s like Rui and Vando or a 5. We need to be looking at why other teams have star guards and wings and we have a walk-on, Max, Cam and a rookie that is probably the best out of those guys. The walk-on was an elite 6th man and always the wrong pairing with our other starters and yet he led the team in minutes at times. What this team needs is a SG and a SF. Real wings. With foot speed. With defense. With athleticism. With shooting. With experience. With rebounding would also be nice. Caruso, Herb, Hart, OGA, Wiggins, etc. We need that next to LBJ and AD. What we don't need is to trade away our best shooters, because everyone else also can't defend. And especially not for guys with no foot speed, who lack defense, can't rebound or shoot and make 7 points more on 7 more tries per game. That's close to nonsensical. Now adding picks to that to make it happen. That is utterly mad. Those are the exact kind of deals the people in here bring up so much, because Trevor lacks fundamental lineup knowledge and calls everyone a wing, who isn't a big or a PG.

On Dennis, he only stays if he is starting. Very high probability he walks if he isn’t. Also likely he is not as good off the bench. His numbers dropped significantly after Toronto trade last year. Similar analysis to LA. His fit on ball has also been a bit of an issue in the past, specifically for AD. DFS simply just depends on the market imo. That doesn’t mean it’s a horrible idea, but it’s not great.

The real issue is that everyone seems to have a high bar for reaves. But money wise, you can't turn him into an all-star level player. But you can turn him into 2 rotation pieces that fit better. This roster needs depth. It needs a traditional point guard because you can't keep dlo. It needs a bench to deal with injuries and for lebron to get rest. So unless you want to include reaves into some of that, then the only real option is to rebuild around him. Get assets back build around those guys, and since your the Lakers attract new younger stars to LA. Realistically, the Lakers are stuck and can't turn bad contracts into depth because they dont have picks. They dont want to turn young players into depth. And they dont want to trade stars, so they are stuck with this team, and it doesn't work. Like that trade works, but if they dont want to include a first, they would have to replace reaves with dlo and make the money work. But 2 better fits for 1 are the type of trades the Lakers need right now.

Also Herb is the only semi available elite perimeter defending 2-way wing. I'd give Vando away immediately for him. and then package Rui and Max up with all the picks to get Wiggins imo. D'Lo / Herb / Wiggins / LBJ / AD Gabe / AR / DK / Wood / Hayes There you go, that's an actual elite NBA team. To finalize this in a dream world you get LBJ to accept less to add Jonas, move AR to PG and swap Gabe for Caruso and then you are winning another Championship. Sry Rui you were the ideal PF backup behind LBJ, but if a Wiggins trade is somehow possible then bye Rui. 😂

@@knell7900 Yes in my opinion this is a game of inches. One truly elite perimeter defender, who can also shoot a basketball like Herbert Jones would immensely elevate the whole team. It is by far the weakest link. LBJ plays over 30 minutes. AD plays damn near 40 minutes at center. Those 8 minutes behind him aren't of any real consequence. Everyone and their mom talks about going big, but LBJ DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY SF. So we are stuck with that. Go down the list. Zupac nope. McGee meh. Jordan nope. Maybe not starting. So Drummond? Nah. Bryant no. Huff? Nope. Castleton. No. This that and the third no again. Now Hayes. Meh. Koloko meh. What difference does that make? None. What difference does 0.7 blocks make to 0.9? What difference does 4.5 rebounds in 8 minutes make vs. 3.6 or 5.2? None. Now Herbert Jones locking up the other team's best scorer, letting D'Lo be D'Lo and AR be AR, now that makes a +5 difference and 2-3 steals is extra - for the other team. You get a more well organized defense, less tired players, lower work load defensively for LBJ and AD. That's another +5 right there. Sure we lose games 70% of the time burning everyone out and collapsing when AD gets tired and takes his break. But that isn't happening because of Hayes or Koloko or or or. It is happening because D'Lo, AR, Gabe, DK and Max are tired and can'T stop anyone even when they aren't. Then we just collapse. Last 5 minutes we always play a tired LBJ at the 4 and a tired AD at the 5 and now also regularly tired guards with that, because our forwards can't stay on the court either lacking either foot speed and athleticism defensively or offering no offense to speak off. Adding just Herb Jones would change the entire dynamic of all of that a lot. And the Pels are collapsing right now. They want picks to try again the right way with Zion most likely. They don't really need solid role players, they need to find something that truly works, which probably starts with the shooting center to pair Zion with and the elite high usage guard Zion can work in tandem with. They can't really entice anybody to go there, so the draft it is. Thus I think Herb Jones is available even if they don't say that and are shopping Ingram around instead. So the Herb Jones for Vando + 1st part is definitely feasible right now. If they say give us DK instead, you come back with absolutely not, but we can do a 2nd, that's a solid offer. They can later use or flip Vando for another first probably, so you are getting a couple 1sts and a 2nd for Herb in a way which is very fair. Now I don't know about Wiggins. He's on a good contract for GS and they are still in the mix a little bit. But if they somehow think Rui and Max would fit what they are doing well with Rui's elite shooting and Max having defensive wing upside, maybe they would go for it. So Rui, Max, 1st, 2nd and the money works. I don't think GS does it at all, but if they would consider that, you have to jump on it like you had to jump on OGA back when Toronto was falling apart. If GS likes the idea of Rui and Reaves instead, I'd even do that to be honest. DK at SG is way more dangerous. I guess you could promote Traore to the full team then. Max is the new THT to be honest. On paper he should have worked out, but in the real world he is not even good enough to challenge other rotation players at the things we got him for. He's THT without the occasional wow moves for a million less than OKC got Caruso for. Truly maddening.

As LAker 🟣🟡 Fans, We have to embrace the Fact that The L🌴A LBJ 👑 Era is coming to an End and We won’t win #18 before He leaves so, We have to treat LBJ like a 3rd Star and Build/Re-Structure around AD!!! AD is Signed thru 27/28 (3 More Years) so, We need Young/Athletic/Tough/2-Way Players that are 24-28 (CamJ/NikR/etc.) and can Play 3 More Years and possibly Beyond!!! And, bcuz these type players are Hard to Find, I would consider players with similar traits but, are slightly older @ 29-31 (Schroder/DFS/Kuz/etc.) and could play 1-3 more Years with AD.

Bron also wanted Ty Lue too in 2019 and I highly doubt he wanted Lakers to lowball Caruso DeRozan pre Westbrook disaster or give away Zubac in 2018-19, yet ppl pretend Bron & AD wanting Westbrook is to blame not the actual decision makers who have told LeBron no about Ty Lue, Caruso, DeRozan and Kyrie, but couldn’t tell him Westbrook was making 10x more then he should be therefore of course we can’t trade for him going into yr 14?!?!🙄 MJ Kobe LeBron Jokic Barkley and virtually every player ever has raved about lovin Westbrook and how hard/passionate he plays so of course they want to play w/ him, but it’s on GM to say “I get that but he’s in yr14 and deserves to be making 4-5 million per year at this point not 40-50 million per year!”

It's a sad world we live in Trevor if people don't get the counting crows reference.. lol Does Wood have to be included in the dfs and schroder trade? I know he's injured right now but we need all the forward depth we can get. Gabe for Jonas is my preferred option at bruising center because it doesn't require a first, or at least it shouldn't lol this team that we've been watching is not the same team that started the season. They've gotten away from the brand of basketball they started the season with. I know teams have the lakers weaknesses figured out and they just keep exposing them but still. AD needs to get back to being the hub and he's just gonna have to pull his big boy pants up and put together 30pt nights every night with the current roster construction. I wouldn't be opposed seeing the original starting five back out there. Start Dlo and AR then throughout the game stagger them with gabe and max christie. Look at the analytics and see who pairs together better with who and go from there. Then in the 4th quarter ride the guys with the hot hand and the group that performed the best. I have 0 trust in Rob to pull off a trade though. My gut tells me this is the same roster we'll have on Feb 7th.
