This may be the second of the few, apart from Chopin's music, nice things in this country - a rich feuilletonistic tradition. I don't know where Andreas is from, but here people read/write tons of feuilletons.

Hello Tiffany, I’m a young pianist from HK and I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to practice, introducing me to different pieces and showing us the behind the scenes. Your videos made me realise that piano is an everlasting journey that requires a lot of time and patience, and all the seemingly flawless performances we hear involves a lot of hard work and deep considerations that we don’t see on stage I admire how much thought you put into your pieces and concerts and I really hope I’ll get to hear you live someday. For now, I look forward to hearing your under the piano podcasts :)

Thank you for showing us how you approach new music. It's really impressive how easily you can play unknown sheet music and immediately interpret it with some musicality. I have never heard of this composer, but both compositions sound beautiful. I think the Papillon may be a better piece to end your concert with, due to the lighter mood. By the way, have you ever played anything by E.T.A. Hoffmann? He is nowadays mainly remembered as a writer, but he originally started out as a composer as well.

Sucking at rhythm is no bad thing I think , I’ve always been quite fascinated bye it as it holds a core in what is so microscopic yet at the same time unlike any other creative disciplines “ macroscopic “ . Today we have that thing we’re all to aware of “ algorithms “ ; yet only a century ago different dances had to have specific rhythms and still do in the classical world , just as certain cultures used rhythm as a means of deterrent or inference in warfare. equally used today in the correct contemporary world although stemming originally from jazz stylistics , you know beats and rhymes that we just don’t understand the influence of , but are difficult to challenge as aesthetic realities that actually work . I think classically rhythm is always going to be in its most macroscopic , hence we have so much debate regarding time signatures original and adapted , or just simply new !. To then present these with sound or musically appreciable compilations of “ songs and sounds “ ; it would surely require one to quite literally “ suck “ or at least , be indifferent to the nature of all compiled rhythms in a performance repertoire , as each individual has his own rhythms already at play , some of which are compiled bye the very nature of our DNA and it’s either common or uncommon placement in our biochemical make up . But some of which are simply enveloping our imaginations more firmly than others , due simply to taste and preference .

Hello Tiffany. This is a heartfelt request: would you mind looking over some works by lesser known composers? While I love pianists representations of the classics, There's a delegation of composers mostly only represented by obscurists like Marc Andre Hamelin, Stephen Hough, and Cyprien Katsarsis. And while these pianists make incredible recordings, being mostly niche pianists there's a lot of composers which don't fall into the mainstream line at all. Composers like (Big list coming just to show the enormity) Florent Schmitt, Jean Philippe Rameau, Leopold Godowsky, Charles Valentin-Alkan, Nikolai Medtner, Ferruccio Busoni, Manuel de Falla, Max Reger, Felix Blumenfield, Enrique Granados. The list goes on, practically forever. Yet most if not all of the composers listed above can stand with the greats, Medtner with Rachmaninoff, Falla and Alkan with Liszt, Schmitt with Debussy. But these composers of fallen by the wayside because of the saturation of the classics. Beethoven is incredible, but some of his students are just as worthy as him. Some of his contemporaries are just as insightful, and it's just heartbreak that the canon has already been established by time. Obviously, I can't force you to do anything, But at the very least I'd like you to look at the sheet music for Crepescules by Florent Schmitt. It can be found on IMSLP. It's a piece I considered to be one of the most unfairly forgotten works for all of piano. Thank you for all your uploads!

As far as you having to look nice for YT but with a podcast you can just be how you are normally - who cares - just be relaxed - we don't care about the rest - in fact it makes us like it more if we are seeing the real you - not a polished version of you. Just my take for what its worth - will always be a fan!

In Europe, especially Eastern Europe, classical is still a very big thing, rivaling (if not surpassing) popular music. One story had a girl who like the 'happy tinkling' of American popular music (back in the days of radio, since now they would find it blasting, miserable, angry, and sad, when not regressing into pure childishness). Note the age of the audience. Old is expected, mixed is good. All young would be a surprise, unless the audience was composed of aspiring classical musicians (and maybe composers) to see what it is all about... and, as with all things, come out of it stronger...
@buxtehude1232 жыл бұрын
what commonly called Classical music ( Baroque to 20th Century) is an integral part of European cultures. We hear it everywhere from toddler on. So we don't consider it "elite" music" like in U.S. In fact much of music like Tchaikovsky we consider "light" classical.

Is there another encore choice somewhere between being too happy and too reflective after the Schumann? I think the reflective piece fits better at the beginning, but isn't it nice to end a concert on a happy note? I think the happier piece supplies the happy note to end the concert, but the happy beginning might be jarring after the Schumann. I think I'd vote for the happier piece, if it's just between the two.

The piece you sight read sounds as though it dates from about 1900 - 1910. I would love a video on how to play Kreisleriana. Particularly how to do the 'Noch Schnell' section of the third movement. @@TiffanyPoonpianist Then you could start with the Croatian pieces together with a message of thanks to the Ministry of Arts.
