Hi, Rex! When I was doing this, we used the same type of substrate with a different hormone balance depending on whether we were rooting the plants or “shooting” the plants (encouraging leaf/stem growth). I hope this helps!

Sorry, cutemusic-I no longer have that list, nor do I remember exactly what I was using. You can be pre-mixed culture mediums from lab supply vendors, though! (Which I would HIGHLY recommend for beginners. It will make your contam rate much lower while you’re still learning.) There are some research papers on optimal medium mixes for Cannabis sativa TC which can be found on ResearchGate, as well as pre-mixed mediums meant for this plant specifically which can be found online. I hope this helps!

Is there a way to not use plastic petri dishes? We used glass ones in our lab.

You could definitely use glass. We didn’t have ideal sanitary conditions at that lab (it was surrounded by freeways/busy roads and had little separation between the work area and the exit doors) so we bought sanitized plastic petri dishes in bulk and only opened them under the flow hood. In an optimal lab setup, that’s definitely not necessary!

The reason you cut it off is because it's blocking access to vascular tissue. Not because it will rot.
