This lecture is profound. My mind is whirling around wondering about all the variables of trauma. Incest, I imagine is far more typical than anyone can imagine - based on many comments read on KZbin. Yes, father -daughter sexual abuse, but what about father-son anger that permeates the souls of sons, or of the more traditional passive, absent father, along with a controlling mother. Isn't that scenario as traumatic as sexual abuse? Think of the hundreds of traumatic experiences that all children must endure. It's the parents that psychoanalysts ought to be psychoanalyzing via their adult patients. Are there any analysts that begin there? Most everyone's psyche is protected by their illusions of their happy childhoods - at least those who become analysands.

YES ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING, what we all need to hear to imagine to empathise to understand the nuts and bolts of trauma ,disassociation and repression ,the pain of childhood reproduced in similar incidents in adulthood. How to make contact again with these memorise, for most of us it isn,t so terrible in that sense but to be removed from Mum placed in a cot ,distressed wher is she ,the nipole ,then she survived the war unwanted as a child ,Spock reinforced her neurosis ,Dad womanizing ,silent resentment me a child and so on,much worse things into mt twenties and so on,i am sure we all have .The question IS How can we most effectively and in totality remember and ressurect the emotional feelings and process each and all traumas superimposed upon these first experinces ,such that we are able to feel think more reflectively and "be" the kind of person God intended us to be ,that to me is the holy grail if therapy and self work (analysis).

Analysis is best done alone, if psychoanalysts have not experienced the above, themselves, book knowledge will not allow them to be the guides that they imagine - or desire - to be. The problem is that self-analysis requires years to reach the sources of origin. The psyche is never eager to reveal the truth.

You should know that the worst thing about sexual abuse is pleasure! (Требали би знати, да је најгоре код сполног злостављања ужитак! )

To say, “JUST neglect..” is a serious negligent statement in terms of the TRAUMA of neglect. I am curious about the narrators choice of words with respect to neglect.

Jesus Christ has helped me with ‘learned attachment’. In the black pit I was in, he said to me ‘I am a father to the fatherless’ and ‘all thing are made new in me’. Read (or audiobook) the book Proverbs to read a later that a father wrote to his sons.
