Wow! This is crazy to me because I never heard of Ultra AV either. Luckily, I just use the inbuilt Windows Security.

Also, make sure to cancel your subscription because I believe they transferred the Kaspersky subscription to Ultra AV

They should not have automatically installed it on your PC. They replaced Kaspersky with Ultra AV. Ultra AV is not a very well known antivirus program

Everything I've read and heard about Ultra AV is not very encouraging .. its malware and virus detection rate is pretty low and if we don't know exactly what's the deal between Kaspersky and Ultra .. what kind of data can it collect if is installed, it is better to get rid of this thing for sure.

@@askleonotenboom I wonder... For how long did the authorities know about it, and for how much time did they allow Kaspersky's software to continue to run on USA based computers? This is the first I am hearing about this, so I know next to nothing on this issue. But it would seem to me that if Putin has such access (or is believed to have such access), then the Kaspersky ban should have been immediate. When it is a matter of national security, why would there be a retirement period?

The United States government should have sent out rebate checks to those who have a subscription service left on Kaspersky considering there the ones banning Kaspersky as long as you proved the date and time you uninstalled Kaspersky. If Kaspersky told people a month before hand people would have demanded there money back. Kaspersky wanted to keep the money and rightfully so. The fascist US Government is the ones who are building a firewall against the free and open internet. I am ashamed of the United States today.

I had Norton, full license. I wanted to pause it to investigate some issue. I couldn't, the pause option was greyed out. I uninstalled it and the hell broke loose. Not as dramatically, but I spent weeks trying to fix issues I didn't know I had (scanned fully for malware before uninstalling Norton, result nefative), MS security didn't run as expected... also the known bug from January that made me extending the recovery partition. I ended up reinstalling the whole system, and in addition I introduced myself to Linux. After Win10 support ends, Win11 will be a marginal OS for me, for things I cannot do on Linux. It is less demanding on processing power (gentler to your PC's guts), less prone to malware, runs faster... and I happened to like the terminal. It makes me feel like an IT person which I am not.

Kaspersky could have done differently, but weren't obligated to do anything under the circumstances.

If you are forced out from where you want to be, why not leaving a replacement there, to carry on the service? I still don't know who is behind the ultra AV.

I received it because I was a Happy Kaspersky customer for years. My older computer running Windows 10 Pro ran just fine with Kaspersky but after UltraAV it locked up and slowed down worse than a McAfee system. I ended up removing totally after about a week and installing BitDefender Free and so far no issues at all. UltraAV seems to work just fine in my laptop running Windows 11 Pro. I would not recommend UltraAV to anyone and I definitely wouldn't trust Microsoft for my security they SUCK Enough with their OS!! my two cents...
