We just got theaters back with big movies, I don’t think Hollywood can afford to let this strike go for long

i hope so! i’m just hoping that as small independent studios start making stuff that hollywood feels a lot more pressure. I’m worried that they think they can coast of reality tv and animated stuff for a long time and i’m also worried that they could be right :/

@@BiggerAClips hopefully a combo of people canceling their subscriptions to streaming services, younger people not watching traditional television, and the strike cracks them. Also I don’t know if this matters but there’s also no sports going on right now so Disney can’t rely on ESPN to make them money

The Animation Guild (TAG) is in such a rough spot because the regulations for certain positions are overstepped constantly, as well as the art form in general just being misunderstood by writers/directors outside of the craft. What happened with the new Sony Spiderman was textbook example of live action directors having zero understanding of animation as a process and thus ending up with a crunched, overworked, underpaid production team.

If you are talking about the spider verse movies they have a huge understanding of animation. It’s unique style has probably changed the game forever. We are already seeing the change with the new TMNT movie

I don't think the original commenter was talking about the raw art direction of spiderverse; it's pretty hard to argue that both spiderverses didn't completely change the animation game for the better. They were probably commenting on the production side of it- if directors don't understand the animation process and how long/tedious it truly is, they don't account for the hours that the production team needs to put in. The team is then left with ridiculous deadlines that result in harsh crunch hours (and like OP said, an overworked and underpaid production team). The next spiderverse might be absolute dogshit if directors are pushing so hard for output that they disregard the physical and mental health of their production team, who knows.@@noDice07

Funny thing that tiktoker has now apologized fully and taken down all his videos bashing SAG-AFRA. And is now praising SAG Clearly someone talked sense to him. But I if I were in SAG I wouldn’t want him still.

Animators and CGI artist have tried in the past. They even tried like a month ago but the don't have a strong enough guild. Id say they get it worse than the actors.
