Been a Wiccan since 1999. Wicca is an extraordinarily complex set of beliefs and practices. I think this video did a good job of covering it at a very very high level. If you're a non-Wiccan reading this and wondering "can someone simplify this for me?" I would say the easiest way to think of Wicca is that it's the religion (or religions of) witchcraft. Every Wiccan is a witch but not every witch is a Wiccan. Wicca at its core really has three fundamental attributes that 95% of practitioners in some way shape or form adhere to. The single most important aspect I would say is a reverence for nature. Wiccans do not worship nature as a deity itself rather Wiccans have a high degree of respect for nature. Secondly, would be an adherence to polytheism in some way shape or form. Generally that manifests as duo theism or the worship of two deities but in my experience most practitioners worship many more than two deities. The third core attribute of Wicca is the practice of magick. You may notice that Wiccans often spell the word magick with a K on the end. This is to differentiate what we practice with the more commonly understood magic of Stagecraft and entertainment. Now let me be clear I could go randomly select 100 Wiccans off the street and ask them what are the core fundamentals of Wicca and you would probably get 100 different answers. In my experience after twenty five years of practicing the Craft these three themes are pretty consistent. You of course might find someone who doesn't practice magick at all and that's perfectly fine within Wicca however, I would argue that is an outlier or a more rare example. Structurally Wicca is, as this video mentioned, a non-centralized religion. Meaning that there is no empowered authority to dictate the rituals, practices, "theology" of it. Wicca is pretty much structurally divided amongst two groups. The first group would be the coven-based sects that are organized into groups of practitioners that do have hierarchal structures & processes/rituals which are typically led by a high priestess and high priest. Those groups are what you would think of as the church groups of Wicca. Each coven has its own history, traditions, culture and practices which vary widely from one coven to the next. The second group would be the solitary eclectic practitioners who are not in a coven and who kind of just sort of do their own thing. They tend to blend traditions that they've read about or studied and kind of just make it their own. Again, there tend to be similarities amongst eclectic practitioners such as following the Wiccan Rede, The practice of magick, etc. but there's a LOT of personalization to their practice. Also, for those of you who are wondering do Wiccan witches cast harmful spells such as curses... The Wicked Rede tells us not to do that because of the threefold principle that anything we put out into the universe will come back to us threefold including harmful things such as curses, hexes or jinxes. So, in principle generally speaking no we don't do curses - or at least we're not supposed to. However, there has been a growing movement over the last 20 years in which many practitioners feel that this restriction on their practice is not justified or warranted and that they should be allowed to use curses as they see fit. I would argue that that is a minority group of practitioners at least in my experience. Those practitioners that I know who do use curses do them exceedingly rarely and only in quite dire situations. They're not out there just throwing around a curse like they're getting a Starbucks drink. A curse is the atomic bomb of magick in our community. A more common practice might be a jinx or hex which have shorter term consequences and results. The last thing I will say is more of a cultural attribute of Wicca that is less commonly spoken about in public. And that is most Wiccans harbor some sort or level of resentment toward the Abrahamic religions. This is because of the history of persecution and ostracizing that the Abrahamic religions have visited upon us. Wicca is not hostile toward the Abrahamic religions although there might be some practitioners who are, Wicca itself simply aims to distance itself from the Abrahamic religions and as a result a lot of our practices are shrouded in secrecy because we wish to avoid persecution.

As a Wiccan myself, I think that this is generally really good and respectfully presented information for people looking to understand "us weirdos". There are just two things I would like to note: (8:41) it is neither calls Gardenian Wicca (as in the spoken part) nor Gardernian Wicca (as in the text on screen), but Gardnerian Wicca. We appreciate the effort, though :) Second thing is that Witches, Wiccan or otherwise, don't usually go around and randomly hex or curse people, so don't worry ;) We reserve drastic magical action for stuff like preventing the N@z!s from crossing the Channel, an anecdote I am certain you came across in your research. So long and blessed be!

Another great video Tony! I have point out a non religious item though. I'm not sure when you started using them, but as a hearing impaired person, I love the subtitles. They're very easy to read and very much appreciated. I didn't realize that Wicca itself wasn't centralized, but that might just be another way they try to keep it secret. It's kind of sad really that they had to keep what seems to be a harmless practice with good intentions (to the earth anyway) for fear of persecution. It seems "men fear the unknown" is a dangerous then as it is now. I was also genuinely surprised that Crowley had some sort of connection to it.

Used to be Wiccan, but im now leaning more towards Celtic Paganism, and yes its a pretty difficult subject to explain since it has many offshoots, some consider Dianism not part of Wicca, there is also the Strega Witches which are compossed of only female members, also other Wicca types such Seax Wicca, and Faerie Wicca; regarding book of shadows your caution about being wary of the ocassional odd witch is a valid one, but at least in the one current I had studied, the B.o.S. was more of certain spells, rituals, amulets and so, passed by your coven master/teacher and spells you developed yourself. Regarding other notable authors about the craft or used by practicioners are Scott Cunningham and Raymond Buckland; good job with this video, as always it is content of quality.

my only issue with Wicca is that most practicioners claim to have some secret ancient knowledge or to be equivalent to the paganism of old, while their religion is practically born yersterday and has very much modern ideas. I can't hide my distaste for wicca, but people are free to do as they want as long as they know what they are doing and don't do bad.

The one major thing Wiccans don't do, is try and force their beliefs onto others. Wicca is about balance in all things, and nature is the teacher in that respect. There is nothing evil about Wicca, it is a genuinely peaceful and well-meaning religion.

Wicca has to be the most misunderstood religion imo. Though there are some people whether it's of Christianity who think Wicca is just Satanic worship, and the Horned God meaning The Devil, they denied it's actual purpose out of sheer confusion or fundamentalism. Wicca was formerly Paganism, and it lasted centuries like other religions, except in more out of reach locales regarding semi-religions created underground(or tie to the main criteria of faith worldwide). Sabbaths are unrelated to Satanism's Black Mass ceremonies, and are seasonal harmonies every time the equinox changes. Spells are rather not used for evil or harm, but used the elements(fire, wind, earth, water, and quintessence/aether), and the gods they worship represent femininity, life, youth, purity(Triple Goddess), masculinity, strength, and the afterlife(Horned God); the Moon makes sense when connected towards the dual entities, as menstruation was confirmed to be identical to it's phases, and how there would be another full moon within 29.5 days, just like women's menstrual periods. The Triple Goddess was even based on three divine figures from Greek mythology who were symbolized by the moon: Artemis/Diana(goddess of the hunt), Selene/Luna(lover of Endymion), and Hecate(goddess of witchcraft). Many of these reasons are because the Wiccan religion is solely connected to nature itself, thus giving me that much fascination over it entirely. I will become a part of Wicca, but also retain Christian faith like my mother someday. She too was intrigued by this religion, you know.
@renren47618

There is a Christian belief that any god that isn't God, is actually a demon/fallen angel. So every Pagan god/idols would be considered demons regardless of how the people from other religions see them, so you would technically be a "satanist" anyway for not worshiping the True God and clinging to false ones. P.s: I'm not stating my personal opinion here be it agreeing with this view or not.

He is and his design is inherited from Tiamat's Megami Tensei II design, but recolored from red to blue. Only really in the old 2d titles such as aforementioned MTII but oddly enough he's shown up in 3d twice, in NINE and IMAGINE. Some people thought Soul Hackers 2 was gonna be Greek themed really early on (like incredibly early on) but we can see how they dropped the ball on that. The only other games that get close are Persona 2 and 3 although they're personas in those games so they're less mythologically themed and moreso allegorical to the game's characters. I will admit it's nice seeing Doi have a few Greek demons added as well, even if they're very iffy in terms of design symbolism and execution. I wonder how many unused Greek demon designs are in Doi's unused demon pile too.

She has many believers and followers. My mother was one such follower. The correlation between Pagen esbates and sabbaths and the Catholic mass and prayers and rituals is really, really close.. not sure who. Not sure which was first Christianity or Pagen beliefs..

Here are some things Jesus Christ said of Himself. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." John 3:18 Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Matthew 16:13-17 Skeptics said for centuries, "There was no global flood". Now many scientists are affirming there was. They said, "The bible we have now has been corrupted through the centuries.". In 1947 the Dead Sea Scrolls were found and proved otherwise. They said, "There's no way Israel can become a nation again as God promised in preparation for the end times.". Israel became a nation again in 1948. All this being said, it does require faith to believe. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Also John 20:27-29 states, "Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Don't be deceived, Jesus is the Son of God and the only way of being saved from God's judgement for our sin. Christ consciousness won't save you. Believing Jesus was an ascended master, a prophet or a good teacher won't save you. Romans 10:9 tells us how to be saved, "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved". Trust in Him, He shed his blood and gave His perfect life for you. Call on Him, He loves you, and He hears you.
