What Is Worship?

Do we really know what it is to "worship" God? Here's a brief explanation of how we understand worship.

This was so helpful to me! I have been stressing over the "right way" to worship because for years I have felt so shallow, insincere, and unmoved during worship in church. I looked up all these sermons and lessons about worship and this short little video helped the most. It reminded me that worship is not about "how I feel," but about the very person that I am worshipping; that it's not about what I can do, but about surrendering to God because of his worth! Great video. So much modern worship today is, in my opinion, attractive merely because of it's 'entertainment' and the way it makes us 'feel'. We will see the fruits of this in the not too distant future. Yes, we should gie God our best, but we need to focus on Him because He isn't concerned with our sound system, how old our songs are or even whether the worship band is in tune, He's concerned with the intention of our hearts.

So i definetly needed this because ive been going throgh a spiritual battle for the longest time. i would go to church and worship would begin and i would get into the hype of it and "praise" god with "all my heart"... so i thought. when really i was singing for myself and for others to hear me. i lost the true meaning of what worship was because i was so caught up in my singing. but this video definitely opened my eyes and now i realize that i need to just surrender everything i have to god.

i was the so called christian that stood at the back of the church and didn't sing like everyone else. i thought i was going to get laughed at until this video showed me what the true meaning of worship is. it is to honor the creator and thank not ourselves and it is our present to jesus for forgiving us of our sins. thank you for helping me understand

i wonder why so many hits for a song? Worship is not singing, but a holy life of devotion whereby we have come to lose our lives that Christ is now in us and it is no longer me that lives. Galatians 2:20 So simple and yet how many go to a building to "worship". Be renewed in the spirit of your mind and let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..Colosians3 :16...

part 2, worship is actions glorifying God and God alone, not the music we listen to or even the words we sing, yes singing is one of the forms of worship, but so is clapping, dancing, standing in his presence in awe, and speaking his name to others are just a few of the bigger examples. Take for example the passage where Christ hung out WITH the sinner and didn't act better than them but rather spoke to them individually... that was a new thing and the priest in the temples didn't like that.

We think that that one hour we spend on Sundays inside a building (church?) constitutes worship. Worship is a state of being and not some organizational meeting we practice 1/7. It is also personal. Every command in the ten commandments is in singular. I don't go to church to worship. After I accepted Jesus as Lord and savior I was already in worship mode and that will never end. The Bible says worship is what we'll be doing when we get to heaven. worship was never meant to be a sporadic.

part 3 (final bit) God doesn't say act holier than those around you because I do but rather Brothers and Sisters be Holy for I am Holy. Love your neighbours through their sins for they do not know me as you know me. We need to reach out and condemning the worship that people listen to is not an act of Christ, but rather an act mirroring the priest that were constantly tried to trap Jesus & prove him as a frugal not the Son of God. So like modern worship or not doesn't matter but don't condemn it

it is a nice and romantic video it has missed the true meaning of worship. Worship is spiritual (john 4:24) but we have turned it into a mere ritual (spiritual vs ritual) or a meaningless ceremony which those before us invented and called 'worship'. Worship is submission to authority. It is recognizing the Lordship of God and Jesus.And it started that moment we accepted Jesus Christ, first as Lord and second as Savior. That's why the apostles address him as 'the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ'.

To be honest because I grew up in a black church which had songs like " Take Me To The King " but now go to a multicellular aka multiethnic church which has music like this I have to stil, get used to worship at the multiethnic church because I feel so awkward is that bad

You must believe in the TRUE and LIVING God who sent his only son to die on the cross for your sins. ALL of our sins. It's easy and simple as ABC's: ADMITTING your sins. BELIEVING his son Jesus died for you. CLAIMING him as your God. I pray that if you haven't received him as Lord and personal savior of your life that you receive him now as he is readily and willing to forgive and love you to wholeness!!!!!! He's an amazing God that loves all and wish that all would come unto repentance and receive salvation. I pray that you would continue to allow Holy Spirit to lead you into the TRUTH and expose your heart to his holiness and faithfulness. May you experience a revival at your core and a renewal in your mind. God bless you and as you continue to seek, you'll find. James 4:8 says draw near to him and he'll draw near to you. Blessings!

but thats the thing since then the music over all has changed and people my age DO NOT go to church for hymns and a long sermon no matter how good is not designed for the younger Christians just meeting Christ... You don't feed a baby fat free, sugar free food, no more than you teach a baby Christian how to speak a 5 part sermon. but back to your point how do you expect to reach new people and teach them the art of worship if your tell them the way they are doing it is wrong?

They say you must worship him if you want to get into heaven. Why should I believe that god or heaven exists? Why should I that believe the bible is different from *any* other book? How is it possible to worship something that you don't think exists?
