Ah, the irony of corporate culture labeling Gen Z as the harbingers of workplace chaos! It's amusing, really. Let's unpack this stereotype circus with a dash of reality and a pinch of humor, shall we?" 1. On "Lack of Work Ethic": Gen Z gets criticized for their ‘quiet quitting’? Funny, because it was the adults of yesteryear who coined terms like 'TGIF' and 'Monday blues'! Let's not pretend that leaving the office at 6 PM sharp is some new-age rebellion. If anything, Gen Z just made a meme out of it-and guess what, memes work faster than motivational posters!" 2.On "Always on Their Phones": "If scrolling Instagram at workplace is a crime, then the older generations should confess to endless coffee breaks and hours of ‘urgent’ photocopying. At least Gen Z uses their phones to stay updated, whether it’s LinkedIn tips or KZbin tutorials-because who else will fix the printer after it jams for the 100th time?" 3.GenZ on Being too Senstive. "Calling Gen Z ‘snowflakes’ while older employees crack under the weight of an Excel sheet-oh, the double standards! If prioritizing mental health makes one sensitive, then let’s all agree that burnout culture created by Predecessor generation is the real tantrum-thrower here." 4.On "Obsessed with Social Causes": "Sure, Gen Z wants sustainable coffee cups and diversity at the table-but is that so bad? Let’s not forget who turned office meetings into environmental disasters with piles of printed agendas. At least Gen Z is trying to save paper while saving the planet!" 5. On "Entitlement": "They say Gen Z expects promotions too fast. Well, who set the bar by promoting the office gossiper because they were ‘great at networking’? Gen Z’s crime is wanting clear KPIs and fairness-not exactly an unreasonable demand!" 6. On "Preferring Flexibility": "Remote work was called a 'fad' when Gen Z wanted it. Then the pandemic hit, and suddenly everyone realized that pajama productivity was a thing. Seems like Gen Z was just ahead of the curve-again." 7. On "Building a Personal Brand": "When Gen Z polishes their LinkedIn, it’s called narcissism. When older generations name their cubicles ‘Boss’s Corner,’ it’s called ambition. Ah, the poetry of corporate hypocrisy!" 8. On "Awkward Face-to-Face Communication": "So Gen Z prefers Slack and emojis? Fair. But remind me, who invented those cheesy motivational posters with comic sans font? Clearly, communication quirks aren’t generational-they’re universal!" 9.On "Job Hopping": "Gen Z changes jobs every two years? Hilarious, because the ones complaining about loyalty were the first to jump ship for a 5% raise back in those days. The pot calling the kettle disloyal, isn’t it?" 10. On "Technology Dependence": "Gen Z Googles for solutions. The older generations, meanwhile, still think calling IT Fellow for a password reset is a valid skill. At least Gen Z solves the problem faster-and without a 30-minute ‘networking break.’" 11. On "Gen Z Humor in the Workplace": "If Gen Z’s Slack memes disrupt workplace decorum, then explain how karaoke nights and 'Fun Friday' dance-offs were ever considered professional. Humor just evolved; it didn’t vanish!" "The real joke isn’t Gen Z-it’s the degrading corporate culture that expects enthusiasm for unpaid overtime, delivers generic pep talks, and hands out pizza parties instead of raises. Gen Z isn’t the problem; they’re just holding up a mirror to the workplace, and the reflection isn’t flattering. So, instead of pointing fingers at the youth, perhaps it’s time for all generations to join forces-and fix the punchlines before they become tragedies."

During my quarterly review meeting, my manager called me in and talked about how it was wrong to not pick up my higher up's call. First - it was a Saturday. Doesn't matter how important a work call is - I don't see why I have to pick up on a non-working day. Second - there was only one call and no text. I honestly missed the call and because there was no second call or a message, one would assume that it was not important. The fact that this was even a point of discussion in my review meeting is ridiculous. 1. The biggest problem in most organizations is their HR. In India, HRs are often unprofessional and rude, ignoring questions and opting for other candidates instead of ensuring the best fit. This happens even in top-tier organizations. We've stayed silent, but Gen Z spoke up. 2. Employees are expected to work over 8 hours without OT pay. We stayed silent, but Gen Z acted. 3. Salary hikes based on merit are rare, usually only matching inflation (6-10%), while new hires with similar talent who switch jobs get 30% hikes. We stayed silent, but Gen Z acted. 4. Disrespect from seniors. We stayed silent, but Gen Z acted. Many a times their demands make sense. However, some quit over trivial issues instead of resolving them through conversation. As Gen z, corporate culture might not be for everyone and maybe your skills are more suited elsewhere. Put it in some effort to make sure you work for something that aligns with your internal values. Once upon a time i was working in a IT company, there was no AC, only cooler which cool a specific area in office(senior's section). My boss will tell me to work on a project but what i have to do, my other senior will tell me, who often tell my work after 4-5pm. So why do work at office when you can do it at the comfort of your home. You save travel time, when you want to discuss project work with senior and he say "bad may ana" you can go gym that time, you can have better working condition(having AC or cooler at your room aka personal cabin),and no one will judge your working style since no one can see what you are doing. And speaking of senior support, chatgpt can answer question better then most senior. like on day i ask my senior what is Franklin Templeton, and his answer was "It is a domain used by banks and finance sector ", then i asked what is domain, then my senior got angry because as an IT guy i don't know what is domain. Asking same question to google or chatgpt was such a breeze.

Currently if you survey, a huge chunk of job listing are pseudo postings. These are Jobs listed just to fulfill certain criteria as well as keep a safety net when or if an employee quits their job. This creates sheer amount of chaos within Job Hunting and hence Rage Applying makes sense. Society is evolving, and all the generations represent the time they were born in. Yes every generation needs money but question is how much? And at what cost? Gen Z doesn't want to get fixated with just earning money period. They just see money as a way to buy convenience, way to do what they really want to do at this moment because they aren't sure about what's going to happen next. With lack of transparency and clear goals, gen z struggle to find meaning in life and they value it more than the materialistic comfort that money gives.

@santos81469 ай бұрын
@@aryanthakkar Yes and no. I'm not talking about money management here. It's all about the mentality that gen z wants to represent. They just want the good side of things and they are willing to do anything for it. And it has nothing to do with work. If they want money, they work. If they hate the work and don't have money, they just get the money as much as possible and quit . That's it. No drama. In short, they don't have dignity of labor rather they respect sense of purpose. They just don't take things seriously other than their personal wellbeing to the point they are even ready to forgo any marital committments if it doesn't help. Gen Z are not spoiled brat tbh. They are at the phase of teething as OP mentioned. Gen Z also don't have trouble earning the money as long as they don't want a commitment even they have to feed their parents because the satisfaction is cheap and easy to obtain in this current generation through social media and there's no need for any age old traditions of family to be followed just for seeking satisfaction. I've noticed this trend thr younger the generation the more time they need to conform to the social norm the more experimental they are (well atleast in potential)😅. The older generations may want to make the younger ones work to their ways without seeing what fresh eyes can bring. If we can make work a science and put past our psychological differences we can do cool stuff.
