Great results. You know, you can do the retro right process by just putting a pool of peroxide below the snes in a sealed container.

@@RetroOrBusthaha it may just need a recap and a reflow. Best bet is to buy a working “console only” and swap out the PCB. I can try and fix it, but I’ll probably need a donor snes. The easiest fix that it may be is the cartridge slot. On most models you can remove it with two screws and boil it in a pan of hot water, then let it dry thoroughly. Clean the PCB where it connects, then chuck it all back together. Hopefully that will fix it. I can take a look at it if you like hehe

Yeah, I would definitely get one of those Burn-in test cartridges. This is most likely a PPU1 or PPU2 problem that is only affecting certain graphic modes. It could be the CPU, but I doubt it since it's working perfectly fine in most cases.

Yeah, I wondered if it could be one of the PPUs. I'll be getting one of the carts as I'm curious to see what it comes back with!

@@RetroOrBust From my testing, if you get a pass on all test, its most likely a PPU2 problem as I think the test are mostly CPU & PPU1 things. (Can be CPU problem but a 98% working CPU is better then a dead one)

Did you open up the game carts, maybe clean up the game pcb or buy a pin replacement for the snes? I hope you get it sorted mate, that peroxide did the job! great stuff that, used to use it on my hair 😂

Yeah, I opened up Alien 3 & the PCB was spotless. I'm gonna get one of those burn-in test carts, hopefully that'll tell me what the problem is.

Look inside the Alien 3 cartridge just out of curiosity. I have had games work fine on one console but not another too. Hopefully a clean of the cart’s pins will fix it?

I already tried that. The PCB was spotless. Looked brand new.

@@RetroOrBust Bit of a puzzler. Wonder if Alien 3 has any special added chips that requires more power from the SNES?

@@ParkProductionsGames possibly, but I don't think it has anything special in-game that would require one. The 3D sequences in Super Star Wars, etc work fine & I thought those would surely be corrupted. I've seen others have trouble with games like F-Zero with similar problems & that was down to the CPU chip being bad.
