Thanks for such a simple and lucid way of explaining the different types of material.

on my personal experience having both Yixing and Zhuni, I observed that Yixing is porous, lighter and retains heat better and has a hollow sound when hit… while Zhuni, which I personally like, is finer and has a metal like sound when hit with its lid.

I have heard of people adding baking soda to the boiling water when resetting the teapot especially if there’s a stain. I wonder if this might remove more odor from the pot compared to just using regular water.

That would be a little too scary for me but I'm curious if anyone has tried it and what happened?

i dunno , baking soda is incredibly salty , it might just color the tea afterwards when you're done with the resetting

Do people actually fire their pots once again just to get rid of the history of a pot? This sounds such extreme!
