Let's find out what is your current level of Ukrainian? We will discuss each level from A1 to C2 and find out if we need to follow all the demands strictly or if we can "violate" them sometimes ;)
The video "What is Your Level of Ukrainian Proficiency: from A1 to C2" is aimed at helping learners of the Ukrainian language determine their current level of proficiency. The video explains the different levels of proficiency from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced). I provide examples of language skills and demands that can help learners identify their own level of Ukrainian proficiency. Overall, this video is a helpful tool for anyone interested in assessing their Ukrainian language abilities and setting language learning goals.
Language learning is a complex process that demands equal development of all language skills, and we may use the levels' system to evaluate our level of proficiency. But if general communication and vocabulary demands to these levels are approximately the same in different languages, we still have huge differences in grammar approaches among different languages. That is why I will show you what grammar topics you need to cover for each level if you learn the Ukrainian language.

I'm at no level in Ukrainian. What I do like though, is that I can make sense of a lot of Ukrainian thanks through Polish and some basic Russian. It amazes me how close slavic languages are related to one another. I love how we are so closely related and share so many similarities, yet we are often also so divided. I remember many years ago speaking to a Ukrainian person in Polish, while he responded in Ukrainian. When we both slowed down our speech, we were able to understand each other despite speaking different languages. I watched your Kutia video and I understood it about 80 - 90%, thanks to the similarity in our languages.The words I didn't know, I remember them quickly once I find out what they mean. I wish French would come this easy to me.

Thank you so so much for this video, it's exactly what I wanted! 🤗 I recently completed Inna's beginners course, but maybe I should say I got through it rather than completed because in many ways I'm nowhere near A1 yet... in other ways, I'm A2 with elements of B1, even. I've been listening to lots of Ukrainian content, with or without subtitles - short things, like single news items or Zelensky's nightly address, I have time to watch again with Ukrainian subs - and I also wake up to Ukrainian radio, so my listening comprehension is disproportionately ahead of my speaking skills. Being a bilingual person who works in literary translation, I have an interest in how a language works so I have picked up bits of Ukrainian grammar that I'm not able to use yet, beause I don't have the vocabulary and elementary grammar in place yet... basically, I'm all over the place. And because of the stuff I mostly listen to, I know how to say "cannon fodder" and "so-called LNR/DNR" and "ви слухаєте українське радіо" and a few choice names for r*****an propagandists and collaborators, but I doubt I could order a coffee or buy a train ticket or anything like that without preparing a few lines in advance 😂 Now that I have the info in this video I can start ordering my haphazard knowledge into levels and filling in gaps. I'd like to be a confident A2 by the end of this year with good writing and reading skills, so that 2024 can be my year of B level Ukrainian. I'd love to be able to translate from it eventually. Thanks again, you rock! 💙💛

How’s your level these days? I’ve started Ukrainian earlier this year with Inna’s beginners course as well. I’ve been increasing my listening comprehension and have a goal to be at a solid A2 level by the end of the year. I wish you well on your language adventures

So true! When I see that people try to learn all the meanings of cases of all parts of speech in the very beginning I want to cry😢 It is so demotivating. Bu5 if we do it with small steps and will apply our knowledge in practice, it will be so much more efficient and inspiring 🔥

@Caradas33
@Caradas33 Жыл бұрын
That is a brilliant explanation. It is very difficult to be sure because so much depends on confidence. It is interesting because if you speak Spanish and French then you mostly know the grammar rules of Italian. I have a young student to whom I teach French, Spanish and Italian- she has never done Portuguese but I gave her an Irish state exam in Portuguese just for an experiment and she got 70%. I am a little sceptical of the A1/A2 etc system...I have taught students doing 4th year university who were struggling with speaking at any kind of a complex level. Sometimes I watch the news on TCH-1+1 and I can understand quite a lot but it is not as good as my Russian. I have a lot of work to do before I can read Shevchenko in the original....that is my goal. I have many books in many languages but Ukrainian would be special. The last time I was in Ukraine I spoke Russian...the next time it will be 100% Ukrainian. A hug Nika..you take care. x

I could not agree more, John! Except for these demands we also have to focus on our language skills, their equal development. The more languages we know, the easier we learn and especially understand other languages. I am impressed with how many languages you teach, it is jist amazing! We will be waiting for you in Ukraine and we will totally speak Ukrainian and read Shevchenko 🎉

I will claim to be A1, because although I have only studied for two months, I have encountered many, many cognate: the western languages, from Greek and Latin, but by and large ... cognates from Russian. I am busy accumulating Ukrainian sentences from everywhere, including the artificial output of Google Translate. In this way, I expect to claim a B1-B2 level in 2024, hopefully early in the year.

Я думаю, що мій рівень читання - B2+, а розмовної мови - між B1 та B2. Я думаю, що крок від B2 до C1 величезний. У російській мові шлях від B2 до C1 зайняв стільки часу, скільки в мене від 0 до B2 Також я б сказав, що рівень не такий важливий для мене. @VERBA_SCHOOL

Hey-hey) Why? Actually in tue meaning "it seems to me" the word здається does not even exist in russian, instead it os 100% correct Ukrainian word for this meaning 👍😉 The eecond meaning if this word as a verb is "to give up", this meaning will already be equal in Ukrainian and russian. But anyway здаватися is s pure Ukrainian word 💙💛

@@VERBA_SCHOOL Hmm well I happily stand corrected! 😀😊 The reason that I originally thought it sounded like an orcish word was the “a” sound immediately followed by a “ye” sound, which I know happens in orc language fairly often.
