I think the series gets better at the emotional stuff as it goes on, mainly because it focuses more on Sakura and his feelings. The first arc with Choji and Shishitoren is when the writer was first figuring stuff out imo.

I think Wind Breaker isn't for most people. Because the series itself isn't about "fighting." It's more about the psychological experiences that happens to kids. And such. It becomes way more apparent in the KEEL Arc and in the current arc. And connections to others. With someone like Sakura as the MC, and Umemiya who's character is really prelevent about growth and kindness. So it's understandable why some people don't like characters. It's my recommendation for people after finishing the anime to read the manga. It really helps you understand Umemiya, Sakura, and the connections between most characters.

I understand ur point about not caring about choji and togame but to me it felt like this episodes were meant to make us start caring about them because they could be relevant later on. For example their could be a future arc where they come to help and then we're like "ah nice its shishitoren who are our homies after that drama in the first arc". Its this common trope that the first enemies in a show become most likely allies/friends. And I also think their backstory and chojis inner conflict were meant to show Sakura that pnly thinking about being strong and foghring people can ruin u very fast. DAMN I DIDNT MEAN TO WRITE SO MUCH OOPS.

im a manga reader, i'll try not to spoil anything here. sorry if i babble too much 😂 Just one thing, *Sakura's classmates like him for who he is* It's like trying to say that an introverted person can't be a leader. Yes our boy is absolutely socially awkward but he makes up for it with his charisma, to lead. I'll be cheesy and say that Suo/(maybe his classmates) can see that sakura cares, he has heart, BUT he has natural charisma too, annnd we can see that he does try to interact with his classmates(in his own flustered, screaming way. Charisma is more than just being a social butterfly. Tsugeura&kiryuu liked him enough and even exchanged numbers, even though they interacted for only this one episode. A leader doesn't have to have every required quality(sakura lacking social aspect) but he's likeable by his classmates(ep 03), they do like the other aspects of him (+point)he's a damn good fighter too. im not surprised if Sakura is chosen as a candidate to lead a class. Also not gonna ignore that social interactions is needed, but this part will actually be covered in the next episode 😂 so yeah and i'm telling you, sakura WILL blossom into an amazing individual&leader

i think if it was just togame's feelings last episode, I'd appreciate it more. choji's character isn't as well written as togame that's why it kinda didn't feel hard. but as the story progresses, the character development (especially the main ones, not just Sakura's ) is good so it'll get you more hooked into it and feel more about the characters

Tbh Sakura's back story is sad without being showed thoroughly... i admit Choji and Jo somewhat had less touching stories in contrast...

Glad to see I’m not the only one who felt that way. I had commented on another channel that I was dissatisfied with the last 2 episodes for pretty much the same reason and a bunch of glazers were telling me I didn’t “get the plot” and all kinda bs.
