The story is a lot depper than it seems like. It starts of pretty chill but there are a lot of underlying themes going around especially with tye siblings. They have a history and also seem to be pretty experienced with tye hollows plus have the rare ability to connect with a bangboo directly. Eous, their bangboo, seems to be a big plot point too. Seems like they care very much about it and from recent quest in ch 3 there was a hint that Euos had previous owner before the siblings and seems to be very close with them too. There is so much potential

just a theory but, the name phaethon is closely related to the painting called "the fall of phaethon" which depicts phaethon losing control of his chariot and he almost burn the entire world because of it. ever since we got fairy and agree to her "agreement" our sibling will always notify us of the danger of using her especially when fairy showed us what looks like a glimpse of future event showing us (supposedly) the hollow zero expanding and consuming both sibling. im not gonna be surprised if one day fairy will go rogue/corrupted and bring forth the "destruction" which in turn will make us phaethon be held responsible for it

There's one npc in 6th Street that mentions looking at the moon, that's how most people have found out, apparently the moon wasn't half covered by a Hollow before 2nd or 3rd beta, so it must be an important addition

Chapter 2 and 3, especially 3 set a lot of things up that'll matter later down the line so I can imagine you'd be super confused if you skipped the first 3 chapters which a lot of people did, unfortunately. Me personally, I actually really enjoy the random small banter between characters.

I enjoy zzz's story more than the other hoyo games so far (you could say except hi3 but it dropped the ball really hard at the end, "the main villain of the entire story turned out to be doing it all by accident and he's actually cute and fluffy" level of bad), but heck, once I read some actual well planned books I noticed just how much better hoyo writers could've been. What they do is by no means bad but they just love to forget entire story lines (in simple examples - kokomi's rebellion, ayaka's role in the rebellion), write tones of useless bloated dialogues, and insert irrelevant characters in unfit stories (a whole desert subplot with the fall of king deshret's civilization that turned out to be completely irrelevant; Navia's personal story taking so much space in fontaine main quest, same for the underwater fortress; avanturine apparently is the same). A great story, in my opinion, is a story where every single line is a loaded gun and all of them shoot at the end, none are forgotten. Hoyo fails to do that every time. Zzz comes closest so far, though ch 1 and 2 feel largely like fillers so far (I'm only starting ch3 now). But they have time to tie those arcs into a bigger conspiracy which it feels like what they've planned to do, and if that happens I have no complaints.

@@Soundwave1900 It's pretty obvious that they are planning something big with the Plot in the future, that lore teaser they posted further hinted at this, I kinda like that they are keeping it slow and chill for now tho, I think this helps to flesh out the world and characters more instead of immediately complicating it like with other hoyo games.

Fillers flesh out the world too, but ultimately they don't contain anything meaningful to the plot. They're doing a very fine job with the characters so far though. Well, fingers crossed from me.

Each planet feels culturally unique and has vibes of their own, and hoo boy do i even need to explain just how sick the aeons are? For now though they probably will focus and expand more on stellaron. Like what would happen if the stellaron were actually used since we see a lot of different effects from them ranging from terra forming into mutation to even almost creating an aeons, definitely have so much potential

Story? Yes, world building? No... If i had to give the best way to describe it would be like inazuma story in genshin. The archon story sucks but when you look it's world building. It's really cool. Why? Well I don't speak for everyone but when i had to play to level 40, i remember the story we're just meh. Different in genshin where you're saving the nation and all compare to zzz where it's more about doing your regular every day job. To me not really a big deal because this is still 1.0 and hopefully we get more of the world building in the upcoming updates.

Wait wait, the stuff the Void Hunters did couldn't have possible been 10 years ago, it's impossible for humanity to adjust so fast, you mean to tell me in 10 years they came to understand how Hollows Works, how to navigate them and also created stuff like the Shiyu Pillars (and the underground pipeline network) to contain them and extract their energy? The big catastrophe from 10 years ago was the fall of old eridu due to Hollow Zero expansion, but Old Eridu had been around for much longer than that, the lore teaser even says that the Void Hunters reports date back to the FOUNDATION of Old Eridu, and their accomplishments are what gave Eridu the chance to establish itself. The Mayor of Eridu is who gave the title of Void Hunters to the Seven Heroes, and going by the description of the Video, this mayor was the very first Eridu ever had. And it creates an even greater question... why are the archives of the Void Hunters sealed and restricted, if they are only 10 years old? Absolutely everyone should know who they are, it makes absolutely 0 sense to seal and restrict the archives of the heroes who save the city and all its inhabitants. Did they become Ethereals? Or did they betray Eridu?

I mean i am an idiot here so if I'm flat out wrong, just take it with a grain of salt. But if i am scratching my head on real life disasters, even at worst case humanity ever dealt with takes them a couple of months to adapt. So something like this bizarre and humanity is still living with them, is not really a surprising logic to be honest. Even when we are talking about how they discover about hollow and all. It reminded me similar to nikke, when raptures killing humanity, the whole planet just comes together to create a nikke for the first time for their sake of survival. I can find it to make sense the same thing applies here with hollow. What's sus though is when the heroes, in this case the void hunters are for some reason just kept hidden. Now that's is where things gets suspicious, why do you have all this song and dance about the void hunters only to just mentioned by name and then just poofed like that. It's not weird to me that not a lot of people would know about it 10 years is quite a long time and talking about something like the hollow, people would be more likely to remember the hollow than the hunters. But you're telling me everyone just somehow forgot them? I don't believe that. At the very least someone who's old or maybe the people who worked casually in the hollow must've known at least something about it. Not even the force unit themselves? Given the city has already have fair share of corruption early on. I feel like it's not really about evil mayors, i mean the city is corrupted as it is so kinda surfaced level to jist be an evil mayor, but more so someone who is probably involved heavily in the hollow researching and they wanted to find the truth about it. I mean a faction that is looking for the truth doesn't just spawn from nothing, it has to come from someone who knows or has a lead on hollow that there's people willing to join. I dunno maybe that's just me.

it seems that an otherworldly or unknown corruption of some kind is a common element among all hoyoverse games (forbidden knowledge - genshin, stellaron - star rail (and we are yet to see any mention of the honkai at all), hollows - zzz) and they may very well be intentional or might even be referring to the same type of entity (the honkai perhaps?) also, the stellarons were created by nanook but it is my speculation that it could have been sourced somewhere else

the stellarons were not created by any aeon they are likely something much more dangerous. we even saw a stellaron freeze the antimatter legions on belobog there is no way they are controlled by nanook. It is unlikely that we ever see honkai in honkai starrail. it would be to difficult to fit into the story at this point. you would need to explain everything to hsr players *again* since only one in a hundred ever played hi3.

Look, I understand that this is a lore video. But I think ZZZ's big strength narratively is the cast. The characters are pretty simple, but they're fleshed out so far, got great chemistry and very likable. They pack an emotional punch, supported by some of the best looking cutscenes I've seen Mihoyo put out and a rather immediately easy to understand setting that is primed for further explorations down the line. I really love HSR, I do. But it can be so full of world building mumbo jumbo, that I find myself tuning it out occasionally. HSR might have a wonderfully weird cosmic mysticism tapestry, but I can't care about any Aeon or planets or space corporations as much as I care about the terrified little girl that is willing to step in front of a grenade launcher to protect her robot dad. ZZZ offers me full of those character moments. Not to say that the world building isn't interesting, and all the stuff in this vid is exciting and interesting. But the characters should always come first

It is very apparent that a lot of things are conspiring behind the scenes and I simply cannot wait to see what sorts of reveals there will be. I honestly like ZZZ's style of story than HSR and Genshin, but each have their own charms All I hope is that there's no parallel universes and stuff because too much of Honkai's story was focused on that. People are so quick to conclude that ZZZ is part of the Honkai verse because it has "similar looking characters" (like the pink haired girl and the heterochromia woman in the lore trailer, people assume that it's ZZZ's Elysia and Kiana) when the developers already stated that this isn't part of Honkai. Not that it would mean anything even if zzz was part of Honkai verse, if it was like in genshin. Since genshin is in fact completely its own story in no way related to honkai, for which you do not need any knowledge about honkai, there are just slightly similar characters in appearance to the characters in honkai, but that's where the connection ends. So even if zzz is part of honkai, and it may turn out to be, since the developers did not directly say whether or not zzz is part of honkai, they only said that Belobog is just a coincidence unrelated to hsr, and that the story of zzz is a completely new story, as long as the story of zzz is like in genshin this will be a completely new story, just with a little bit of references to honkai that don't mean anything.

As for Himeko it seems that it's an alternate version of Impact's Himeko who died in that game, and Welt came to star rail's world because he wanted to see her again. I know this doesn't help much but unless void archives appears again or something then you probably don't need to know about Impact's story, I didn't play it either

Mistake at 1:39 The first appearance of Hollows was actually *generations* before the present day; enough that the pre-Hollow world is talked like an ancient civilization. The event of 10 years ago was just the destruction of Old Eridu by Hollow Zero.

There's quite a lot of nods to ZZZ in Hi3rd too. Since it was mentioned; the moon plays a huge part in Hi3rd as well. ("THE DAMN MOON!" says Fate enjoyers lol) I won't say what happened but there's a CG (it was briefly shown in video) at the end of Elysia's arc, the CG took place in a city, with a lot of imagery of similar looking TV's that we see in ZZZ, coincidentally, hacking and digital stuff is basically the core of that arc. New enemy types started popping up towards the end as well (pretty sure ZZZ was just, or was about to be revealed), while they do not look like ZZZ's Ether mobs, they are a bluish black/grey gradient and green, with monitors on them. (search Corruption Manifold) So yeah, I'm very hype to see what they're cooking. :p

I imagine a lot of the resemblances are nods but I am curious about the Seven Void Hunters and more so Belle and Wise's connection to Professor Arke. When Belle linked herself with the Rosetta Data Stick through Eous, it awakened Fairy which was made note of by that secret organization and their plans have been set into motion since then. With all that said, typical Hoyoverse. Game starts off pretty lighthearted before they do a massive tone shift. I imagine it's only a matter of time before Phaeton siblings start traversing the Eridu Ruins after finding what they were looking for in Hollow Zero and eventually they will need the help of all the factions they have worked with.

yeah give them some time to cook and players have to take the time to playthrough all the available stories in 1.0 before ranting about how bad the story is compared to other games. Genshin Impact 1.0 Monstadt in my opinion was quite mediocre until we encountered Signora and find that there's more to what the "bad guys" are scheming and it gets better in liyue etc. Same with how starrail first part was just the herta station and gets more interesting in liyue. Wuthering waves also only gets more interesting at the part we meet Scar so ppl gotta give the game some time yk to develop and build the story edit: all of this is imo btw and if y'all have your opinions on this go ahead ^^

The use of analog devices to avoid Ether corruption and the retro aesthetic with VCRs/bulky TV screens combined with advanced technology draws a lot of comparisons to the 40K universe and/Fallout. I believe Cyberpunk 2077 also has shades of it with some of its retro tech, but nowhere near the first two franchises I mentioned.

and then there is this "sacrifice" which we can see first as belobog chapter's last enemy. and then victoria housekeeping's master is somehow know some truth about it, but decided to let phaeton seek the truth as they're already involved enough, telling lycaon to see them as potential partner. and then there is place called outer ring. it seems that it's what they call area outside of new eridu, or at least a place where new eridu's law cannot reach that place.

**BIG SPOILER ALERT** my crack theory for this game is that the hollows were caused by some experiment gone terribly wrong, conducted by one of the companies that existed on earth/in eridu. the hollows themselves are very much like some sort of pocket dimension-- its possible that a company in eridu was trying to create a pocket dimension or maybe a wormhole since we know that they were an extremely advanced society. unfortunately during an accident, their experiment grew out of control, expanding rapidly and creating offshoots of itself. now new eridu is a society run by an elite (off-world?) ring of megacorps, TOPS, who keep citizens in the dark about the truth of the hollows and who caused them (which could also be why the void hunters went missing, e.g. they killed or kidnapped them) and now this shadowy group with the four AI are working slowly through gigantic amounts of data collection to destroy TOPS and show the world who was responsible for the catastrophe. the reason i say all of this is because the story has a lot of underlying anticapitalist/antiestablishment tones. take for example the fact that hollow raiding and proxying are illegal jobs (who are hollow raiders even "stealing" from??), the fact that the current police chief is trying to get cozy with TOPS, the corrpution in the Perlman case, etc

I didn't know there was any deep lore until Ashikai talked about it, but so far I'm genuinely enjoying the slice of life storytelling, since it lets us focus on the characters more while still showcasing the world. It's a nice change of pace from having to hastily grind just to progress a faster paced story. Personally I just hope ZZZ doesn't rely too much on expy characters. It's getting kind of overdone now and I wish they would focus on creating fully original ones Like, Hoyo, stop reminding me of a game I had to drop early on because of time constraints and how my enjoyment was ruined by constant spoilers 🙃

There's one thing that doesn't make sense to me. You're saying that Hollows first appeared 10 years ago, yet in the lore teaser the girl says "That professor's been missing for an entire era" when referring to Arche. Was that supposed to be a figure of speech or what did she mean by that?

It has to be -at least- 20 years, I'd think? Just one decade seems too short of a time for society to bounce back into some stability. If the MCs were like, 4-5 yrs old when their neighborhood got swallowed up by The Hollow, that would put them about mid-20s which would makes sense since they are considered adults past school age.

Not related to overall story arc but more of what Hoyo drew inspiration for their agents. Lots of the agents seem to be based on popular media, most obvious one is Victoria Housekeeping agents where you have Rina as Cinderella (Fairy tales), Ellen as Jaws, Lycaon as Wolfboy (In his story there's another future agent), Corin as Frankenstein. Squad 6 where Miyabi and Soukaku (Blue Imp) are under seems to be draw inspiration from Youkai folklore. Obol and Sons of Calydon (looks like Mad Max) are Greek origin. In Special Response Team, the officers have Chinese and English names. Qingyi is an actual role in Chinese opera. The only one I have no actual clue of is Cunning Hares/Gentle House, maybe someone else who already knows or know more would like to tell us. Edit (from bilibili): Nekomata is a Youkai. Billy Kidd seems to be based on an outlaw called Billy the Kid. Totally forgot about Belobog💀

While in real world the literall things exsisted (miyabi+ soukaku+nekomata : youkai, victoria housekeeping : not exactlly ghost but part of halloween monsters), so that means we will see fairies and jinni in new (possibly?) area or fractions?

I very hype to see all the "Void Hunters" Successors in the future where,the siblings got into rather deal or trouble with people related to them then accidently pulled them into that. Also i really think the "Secret Group" (the people who's said Fairy has been activated) would probably follow the siblings and watching every moves they do later on,even maybe they will try to use Fairy for something in the future they will be definitely something important and maybe the key to form connection between our siblings and other characters even maybe their "mysterious" past and Fairy. The gameplay might be quite meh but i really like and hyping for what Hoyo can feed us next,imagine some missions where you can also learn about "clization" on the moon (if the world techs is that advance before hollow show up then this is a possibility) or actually visit it's through important characters quest.

From what happened in the main story seems Fairy was actived by accident when Phaeton tried to access the strongbox Nicole's group stole for a way to exiting the Cretan Hollow. And indeed whoever was behing the four AI it was surprised Fairy was actived at that moment, even if was clear they expect to going be activated at some point. So no, I don't think Phaeton involvement was the aim of Fairy activation, it just happened. What I don't get is why Phaeton siblings moved to the Sixth street since was also stated they had to lay low and move physically there before the story starts

2 notes. Its officially stated, many times - that ZZZ has NO connection whatsoever to Honkai/Genshin/HSR. Never before Mihoyo was so unambigous, so similar chars is just tribute to HI3, but not connection. Dont expect anything from it. Second thing you missed - the AI`s seem to be basically designed to be given like rings in Lord of the Rings, to different teams. Phaeton - Fairy, Ghost - Victoria Household, Youkai - likely Special Team, Jinni - not sure. So basically, to descendants of the chars mentioned in history. Also Phaeton unlikely to have direct connection with Prof Arche, since it happened multiple hundred years before current events.
