Zonal marking will having a lot of trouble if the rival use long passing. Furthermore,zonal marking actually make a pressure towards the player with the ball and not with the player without the ball. Since then,the player without a ball can make a free run towards free space and waiting for the long pass from Cdm or Cb. (im bad in english. Hope y'all understand what i want to explain.) Mohd Fazly Abdul Lahit True - but it’s a players job to not let a player get the ball in their zone. I think a long ball/pass can counter a high-press. Jika sedara perasan, gameplay Thailand tetap konsisten dan sama sepertimana mereka bermain do SNBJ. Cuma gameplay Malaysia masih tidak menjadi. Poor and lack of passing, Malaysia attack formation easy to intercept, shot on and off goal sgt sedikit, membuatkan Harimau Malaya tumbang oleh Gajah Perang. Kesimpulannya untuk game semalam, melalui gameplay dan possession, memang Thailand lah yang layak menjadi pemenang berbanding Malaysia. Kita masih belum jumpa formula untuk menumbangkan strategi unpredictable attack dan fast short pass Thailand lagi. Klu jumpa formula,pasti kita boleh kalahkan Thailand. Apapun kita dah buat yang terbaik. Player HM pun majoriti second choice player, tapi diorang boleh bawa HM sampai ke Semi, ianya satu pencapaian yang menakjubkan dan luar jangka sekali buat skuad HM AFF 2022 kali ini. Zonal Marking- main concepts:1 Moving as a single unit. 2. Keeping opposition out of your block, or making them not available in play. 1. In Zonal marking system, teams defend as a SINGLE UNIT and share defending responsibilities. 2. The compactness of your team is VERY important, and we need to keep it while moving to the ball as a SINGLE UNIT. 3. Once the opposition goes in your block we need to apply HIGH pressure to get them out of it. 4. We need to move to the ball as a SINGLE UNIT 5. When CENTRE BACKS have the ball we need to use that time to reorganise and get back in shape, shift towards the ball (Unless they are inside the block, of course) 6. As a team we can control passing options of the opponents by marking all the other passing options and leaving the one passing option that is better for us. We can do that by increasing/decreasing the compactness of our team or pressuring the opponents outside the block. 7. If the ball is played on the wing and your team ISN'T close enough to each other, apply HIGH pressure. Because that means that the opponent can exploit the space behind me and leave me out of play while their attack progresses. 8. If my team ISN'T organised properly I would need to press the opposition backwards for him to pass it to the GK, CB while our team rearranges our positions. 9. If a FULLBACK is with the ball, quite high up the pitch, then one man checks the positions of his team and once their good he presses the FULLBACK or if the CENTREBACK is quite high up the pitch he presses the CENTREBACK or any other opponent that is quite high up the pitch outside of our block, if the ball and the players come inside the block, then everyone surrounding the ball owner press him until we regain possession. 10. The opposition will SWITCH THE PLAY to break the ZONAL organisation and make spaces inside your block ( Because if when you move sideways the opponents switch the play quickly you won't really be able to move as fast as they switch the play) So we need to always be ready for a switch of play and move to the side of the BALL faster. 11. When trying to build an attack and losing the ball we would get out of shape and need to apply GEGENPRESSING if we don't the opponents will take advantage of the spaces left inside our block. 12. Passing Traps can be applied in Zonal Marking System, we leave empty space in one area of the pitch for an opponent to receive the ball once his teammate passes the ball to him my teammates surrounding him start pressing and outnumbering him. 13. Man Marking can also take place in Zonal Marking if there is a very important player in the opponents team one player of my team presses that very important opponent and the rest of the team go on with their Zonal System.

What I mean is .. You can see their positioning in the 4-4-2 formation. So if you draw lines between the players, you can understand the main point of the zonal system which is to avoid getting the ball between the players. So to make it easier, people call it the block ..
