I think a lot players think too much about scanning. Your senses are naturally scanning all the time during a game (vision & hearing) but you can gather extra information about the opponent by forcing yourself to take that last extra look before receiving the ball. Which I think is what odegard is trying to get across in this vid. Scanning and decision making come hand in hand with each other. So the more info you can gather before receiving the ball, the more time you have to make a good decision.

Definitely start doing this while you’re young I’ve been purposely reminding myself to try and scan the pitch all the time for the last couple of years and it is definitely something that is far more effective the longer you’ve been doing for I definitely didn’t start young enough 😂
