I think it's best when relocating to Africa from the west that you have family members with you. Whether it be your significant other, children, or any other persons you have built an intimate relationship with to go with you than to simply travel there on your own. They will provide you, vice versa, the emotional support of experiencing a new environment that is of wide range different from the one you're used to.

You and your family are blessed to live on your own land. Fresh air. No morgage. No rent. Total peace. Less stress. HAve your own water. Grow your own food.god will bless you to have chickens. I looked into that. The only way to know is to do some research on availability in The Gambia. Look for real-estate agents who can direct you on the steps. If your willing to put in the work it's worth trying. If you want live in a village, you need to reach out the Elders who have land to sell. Verify, verify, verify.

@@worldtraveler2417 I’d advise you to consider Tanzania out of these 3. I can say without fear of being contradicted that it is the safest on the continent, the scenery is beautiful and the soil very rich. Good food everywhere. Most importantly traditional but you need to adapt though because Tanzanians are strict when it comes to tradition, non nonsense.
