I married a blind woman 8 years ago. We have three kids ,two in school. Been with sighted women before and none of them as sweet, honest, and so ready to be involved in the life of her family at home. Our families abandoned us long ago, so we are a strong family of five and she's the queen of the castle here!!!

Hi! Thank you very much for watching this video. That is so awesome that you married a blind woman a few years ago and that you have a couple kids together. That is amazing, I love hearing stories like this! It is so nice that you except her for exactly how she is and recognize that she’s an amazing person even with the visual impairment. Thanks again for watching and for reaching out to us, this is great! I appreciate you being here on this channel and for your support. See you again soon in the next video. Matt

Hi Sonja! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate you sharing. If you have questions or if you would like us to cover a certain topic we would be happy to make a video about it, or we can chat. I knew that there might be challenges to dating a blind person, but that who he is as a person would trump any visual impairment in terms of our relationship growing. He is a great guy and I feel lucky he picked me. I would love to chat more and learn about you, thank you so much, Corey

Great perspective. I've been with my partner [who's visually impaired] for ten years. He does a lot of the cleaning and cooking. I do a lot of the reading. Due to work accident and botched surgery 5 years ago I ended up using a wheelchair to get around. Able to walk very short distances. so nowadays when out and about 'he pushes me around and 'I tell him where to go' literally. I get around independently as does he. I think like, you we work well as a team and compliment each other

I’m disabled and before I was I’d never have judged anyone if they were blind, deaf, disabled, but I get your comment, now that I can’t walk well or far at all, I feel like I often don’t fit in or that I can’t meet someone who’ll love me and look past my physical limitations. I’m proud to say that my youngest daughter is a teacher for deaf and disabled children and adults. As humans, we need to teach our children acceptance and that beauty comes in all packages and is found inside more then outside. Stay blessed and I sincerely hope you find someone special. Much love💜

Hi, I enjoyed your video! I am legally blind and my husband is fully cited and I always worry that I am asking things of him that I actually could do myself. He says he doesn’t mind but still I think it’s good if there are ways I can do things for myself, it’s good for him and it’s good for me. Even if sometimes it may take me four times as long to do something as it would for him. As for the movies, I recently discovered that our movie theater offers headphones with audio descriptions of the movie so it can be enjoyed by people with visual impairments. Also Netflix has an option for audio descriptions on lots of their selections. This changed everything for me, now I love watching movies again and it is amazing how they work in the audio descriptions between the talking. It’s awesome! As for reading mail and such, I was given a program by blind services but I’m sure I can be purchased separately, it is called open book. You place printed documents onto a scanner and then send it to the open book program and it will read it aloud. It is quite accurate unless there is a lot of fancy font or photos. I believe I heard Matt mention the Seeing AI app And that works quite nicely as well. But as far as accuracy goes I think the open book is better, just not as quick. As for the running, I wonder if you could connect yourselves with some sort of stretchy band so you each have your arms free. I believe my friend who is a blind marathon runner does it this way with her coach. Anyhow, just found your channel and really enjoy your content. Thanks!

I was married to a blind person and I had a very bad experience. We lived together for 13 years. I was so much in love with him but I guess he never loved me in return, I tried to make the marriage work. He was a ladies man, very violent and he feels he's always right in everything. .He's very independent, I got separated from him and within five years of our separation, five different ladies lived with him and he pass on almost two years now I was so devastated because I never want him to end up that way. He was a genius. Being blind doesn't make one a lesser person

Hi Brett! That you so much for watching and commenting. I think it’s so cool that you are going to a visual impairment conference to learn to be a better guide. I would love to do something like that. It’s not always easy to be the sighted person, but it’s harder to be the blind person. How did you guys meet? What is it like for you to be he sighted partner? I recently found this KZbin channel. Thanks to you, Corey and to Matt for all the great work you do here. It's great to not only get good information but also have it delivered by such a lovely and conversational couple as yourselves. So much easier to consume than only looking at things in a more clinical setting. My blind husband and I have been married for 32 years. He has been legally blind since birth due to a very rare condition. Over the last 30+ years his sight has declined and there is very little left, so many of the tips you show will be very helpful to him. In this video, Corey, I heard you say that Matt doesn't care for movies too much because it's hard to get the full experience. I wanted to ask if he uses the video descriptive services (also called audio description) when he goes to the movies? That has been a game changer for us. We used to love going to the movies together. Then in the last few years as Walter's sight has declined further he is no longer able to see the screen. He got very frustrated and pretty much told me he didn't want to go to the movies any more, it just wasn't enjoyable for him. This was a couple of years ago. This alarmed be because I love to go to the movies and I would have tried to make him come with me anyway because I don't want to go by myself. But I had heard about audio description so I looked into what theaters had it. We tried it a couple of times despite Walter's insisting it wasn't worth the bother. I kept at it. And the next thing you know he started to enjoy movies again. So much that he started asking to see particular movies that were coming out. Sometimes we would be running late and he would try to get me to skip the audio description saying he didn't need it or we were going to be late. But every time I ignore him and just stand in the line until we get our device. And if they didn't set it up right when the movie starts I take it right back out and make him fix it. So what if we miss some previews or I miss a little bit at the beginning? I refuse to watch a movie that Walter doesn't have video description for. And now that it's more widely available than before (even the 2nd run, cheap theaters) we both love going to the movies! By the way we are still old school at home so we have a subscription to Netflix DVDs. Most of the discs for newer movies now have a video description track so we use it at home as well. I just wanted to offer this tip in case you haven't fully explored that technology. For us it made a difference. Thanks for all you do!

Hi! This is Matt, thank you so much for watching this video and for reaching out to us. It is so great to have you here, we sincerely appreciate your support on this channel! Thank you so much for all of the very nice words. It is so cool to hear that you and your husband enjoy going to movies together and that he uses the audio description features offered at the theater. Actually, we have not been to a movie theater in several years to watch a movie, but we do use audio description at home with Netflix and other movies where it is offered. It is definitely a very cool feature and does not inhibit the if Ewing experience for even Corey. We found this is a very fun way for me to continue watching movies or TV shows and still being able to follow along as well as enjoy them. I’m so happy that the two of you are able to enjoy movies together once again after discovering audio description, that is so exciting XcodeThank you once again for watching this video and for reaching out to us, it is so nice to connect with you! Hi! This is Matt. Thank you so much for watching and commenting on this video. It is so nice to hear from you and meet you too. I just read your comment and wanted to say hi to you and thank you for stopping by our channel. I’m glad you also met a very nice guy named Matt. That’s really cool. I’m glad you think so highly of him. There are a few similarities a little of all of us here in the blind and visually impaired community. From all of the people I have encountered, everyone is incredibly nice, thoughtful kind, genuine, and always willing to help in anyway they can. This is possibly one of the nicest groups of people I have ever encountered. I’m not just saying that because I am included in this group, but I am saying it because it is true. Another similarity all of us share from what I’ve encountered is that some of us live somewhat isolated, lonely, and depressing lives at times. Don’t get me wrong, we are not like this all the time, but considering our situation it is something that a lot of us deal with. Since a lot of us in this community are not able to drive and we depend on others to help us navigate, by nature we live a more isolated life because we are always dependent on someone else to help us around. But for the most part, we are happy and thrilled to be around people when we have the opportunity. We may not get out much and interact with others all that often, but when we do it is possibly the most important part of our day and time. I’m sure Matt is incredibly thrilled to have you in his life and very excited to continue getting to know more about you. I’m so happy that you’re giving him a chance to prove to you that he’s a great person and has a lot to offer. A lot of times, people in this community are not even given a chance which is very discouraging. It makes me so happy to know that you were giving him a chance and proving his self-worth to you.

Hi! This is Corey. Im really excited that you found someone special :) Thats so exciting :) So I actually talked to my Mom about going out with Matt before we went on our first date and she said that I should get to know him and that if it didn’t work out that it would be due to our personalities versus his low vision. My family I think has adapted really well to Matt and my Grandma and Grandpa have been the cutest. If he is a good guy and he is special, then your life will be great with him. There will be added responsibilities, hard times, times when he is frustrated and you don’t know what to do, or times when you wish he could do more. But really, I’m kind of describing any and every sighted person relationship. There are no guarantees and if you have a good one then enjoy!! Thank you for reaching out, Corey

99% Among the people I have met in my entire life, with or without disabilities conveyed, directly or indirectly that it is easy for a man with disability to get a so called nondisabled life partner than a woman with disability. This is true as per my experiences of being from the community of visually impaired people in the parts of the society that I have been living.

Hi Latha, thank you for writing and sharing. I think this is a really interesting perspective. Matt spent a lot of time dating and he was over 30 when we got married. We have a lot of single friends who are men who are blind who would like to meet the right person but are struggling. I think it is probably difficult as a woman because there is already a vulnerability and men might have to shift their roles slightly. Thank you for your insight! Corey

Hi, thank you so much for watching this video and for reaching out with your comments and concerns. It is a very unfortunate situation that I also encountered many times in my life. The best suggestion I can give you is try to get to know somebody and allow her to get to know you as much as possible before discussing your vision too much with her. From my experience, I found that when I was able to spend a decent amount of time getting to know someone and allowing her to get to know me for who I am, it was much more likely that I would meet somebody and have a nice time versus talking about my vision right away at the beginning. Your vision does not dictate who you are, but rather one small element of your life. If you were able to allow someone to get to know you as a person and she’ll what you have to offer, I think you’ll be much better off than discussing your vision right away. I don’t think it is anything against you, I think people just get scared because they do not know what low vision or blindness truly means so rather than learning, in most situations they just run away. I hope this is helpful to some extent. Thanks again for being here and for subscribing, I sincerely appreciate your support and friendship. I look forward to hearing from you again sometime soon. My next video will be up a little bit later today. Thanks again, Matt

Thank you matt you are amazing. And i got your point to not to talk abt weaknesses... But my glasses speaks abt my low vision... But any way thanks for motivation... Keep in touch... Wanna learn frm u more
@BlindtoBillionaire5 жыл бұрын
Hey my friend, I’m glad that my reply to your message was somewhat helpful. I understand what you were saying about your glasses, I wouldn’t let that bother you too much. If somebody is going to judge you because of the glasses you wear, that person is not for you anyway. When you do happen to start talking to someone, get to know her and allow her to get to know you. Don’t talk about your glasses or your vision unless she asks you. Show her that you have so much more to offer and that you’re not going to dwell on your low vision or glasses all the time, because nobody likes to hear that all the time. I’m sure she will ask about your vision at some point, but let her bring it up whenever she is comfortable doing so. I hope this is helpful. Thanks again my friend, talk again soon. Matt

According to me one of the partner being blind in the relationship of marriage is not a problem at all in order to have, so called good marital relationship. It is the misunderstanding or stigmatization that most people have about the disabled people, that the disabled persons are always dependent even to do some of their own basic works. In my experience, most of the so called nondisabled people tend to think only about the Visible disabilities and even faile to realise the existance of invisible disabilities.

Hi Kylie! That is OK, that is what makes you so special! It is totally OK to be blind or visually impaired, it just makes it means that we are very special people and that we have special abilities! It may take us a little bit longer with accommodations to do certain things, but ultimately we can still do the same that everybody else can! You are just as smart and talented as everybody else, never let anybody tell you anything different. You will do great things in your life! Matt
