avia! as a LA girl myself, PLEASE be careful wearing headphones walking around. many of times i have been literally attacked or touched in public by homeless individuals or random people on the street. LA is very different from any other place. be careful! and always be aware of your surroundings- highly recommend getting a taser to have with pepper spray. my taser has saved my life in LA!

It's not an LA thing it's true of pretty much any big city. When you have That many people all crammed together in such a small area, gonna be a pretty fair share of creeps and predators etc. Anyone living in any big city needs to be much more vigilante compared to being in the suburbs or other places. I love Avia but she's kinda lived a sheltered life up until now so yeah definitely a LOT of lessons need to be learned and it's better not to learn them the hard way.

Avia, you’re living in Los Angeles now and not in Idaho. You really have to be careful, your headphones make you an easy target to get robbed, attacked or taken. I would recommend getting earbuds and putting one in, leave one out. You’re 18 and very beautiful, you’re already a a prime target, don’t be wearing a big yellow sign saying, “I’m not paying attention to my surroundings, take me”. Love all your content and rooting for you. I can’t wait to see you on the big screen.

Here's my recommendations: - The best library in LA is definitely the one in West Hollywood - My favorite hike to do solo is point dume in malibu. definitely bring a journal to this view - Most underrated food spot: Dan's super subs or California Chicken Cafe probably - My favorite lookout: top of topanga overlook - Favorite flea market: Silverlake!! I'm surprised you're taking online classes. Being in class with people would be a great way to be social in a new place. Also, I know you love seeing movies - L.A. has a lot of great theaters, playing things that'd never screen in Idaho (many times with the filmmakers there for q&a's, etc). I think that'd be an enjoyable thing to take advantage of.

Girl if you like urban outfitters you will definitely love exploring vintage stores and markets it's what I did when I first moved to a new city, also like old school movie theatres are lovely to spend time at seeing classic and artistic films and these spaces it's great to meet like minded people. I'm from Scotland but I felt quite lonely when i first moved away but thats totally normal and also great to see that you enjoy your own company :)

Go to the Getty Center!! it's free entry, a great work environment or to explore the garden/museum. Also, Sunlife at Country Creek in Malibu - there is a library, blue bottle coffee, and bookstore + the beach is 5 minutes away. Also, LA has the best second-hand/indie bookstores besides NYC of course.

Just a suggestion, but you should put your bed/bedroom in the kitchen area because it’s much more open environment, and it’s where you thrive the most, and then make the bedroom your living room/ hang out room/ office

LA recs from an LA Native: To work/ study: Bohemia (tea house in Hollywood) Tartine: outdoor cafe in Silver Lake, if you feel like driving there’s a NICE waterfront Starbucks in Palos Verdes on Palos Verdes Dr. omg it’s so nice To shop: Los Feliz flea market is the most reasonable, silver lake flea is good too. Melrose trading post is awful overpriced and the ppl are annoying so I don’t recommend that one. I also recommend The Americana in Glendale it’s literally The Grove but it’s more chill and there’s an Urban there. There are also really good thrifts on Main St in Santa Monica- I love Buffalo Exchange you can sell your clothes there too. Food: Bacari in Silver Lake or West Hollywood, Night Market + Song in Silver Lake, Jon and Vinny’s on Fairfax.

I grew up in LA, heres a few areas to explore/activity ideas: 3rd street promenade, santa monica pier, malibu -drive PCH and eat the malibu country mart, griffith park/observatory, hollywood sign hike, hike runyon cyn, the grove, the getty museum, go to a dodgers game :)

Lived in SoCal for 18 years. I'd recommend visiting smaller towns around actually. Most of the gold lays there regarding hikes, nature and so many other "non-LA" benefits! I'd recommend looking up the Monrovia Canyon. It has a waterfall at the end of the Canyon trail!

Kudos for a living a great life by yourself! Knowing you, you’ll have plenty of friends in no time. By the way, I’ve heard the Getty Museum is awesome. It’s free, but parking is 20 bucks. It’s a good thing to do by yourself or with friends. And the view from there is fabulous.

head towards the south bay (manhattan, hermosa, redondo), as someone who grew up there I can say it can't be beat! bring a beach bag and bike down the strand until you find a nice spot to lay out for a bit. tons of great cafes around the piers and just an overall chill place to hang out

Hey! I'm 18 & i've lived in LA my whole life heres some recs; - the platform in culver city is super cute to walk around and get a coffee and window shop - i loveee getting froyo at The Bigg Chill but it gets busy after like 8pm so I'd suggest going during the day - on sunday's i love going to farmer's market and my favorite is the Brentwood one- its super cute - my go-to coffee shops are Verve, Blue Bottle, and Community Goods has the best match i've had in LA - the best beach is el matador in Malibu- i know its far but definitely worth it Hope you enjoy LA :)

I used to be really good at journaling. You really just have to make the commitment and do it. There are two things to focus on: the activities/ actions that happen throughout the day, and your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes you don't do anything but sit at home and you might think that's not worth Journaling, but it is. If something is bothering you at work or school, you can rant about it in your journal. If something good happened, you can explain all the details. There are no rules. You can even print some pictures out and tape them into your journal.

As someone who is Autistic I find it incredibly hard to make and keep friends and I always feel alone even when I’m with people at work. It’s just so hard and would be amazing to have a friend or more you could just meet up with go out, have meals, movie theater, go on holidays with etc. Also I’m curious Avia did you or any of your siblings ever go to a summer camp in America what was it like and which one?
