This video made me cry. I had a Maine Coon named Hagrid. He was a pedigreed from a long line of beauties. He was my familiar and we could read each other's minds. I brushed him every night before bedtime. He was gold with black stripes and white paws. He had a beautiful white ruff under his chin. Watching this brought back such loving memories. I had him for 13 years. Have other cats that I've reached. It's just not the same as my Hagrid. I still miss him and it's been 7 years. He would always make a killer doodoo just as company arrived without fail LOL. It took a couple of years before he became a lap cat. Give them all the live you can.

I know how you feel! My Maine Coon died 6 years ago, only yesterday did I buy a new kitten (will get him in July) its taken me this many years to “move on” enough to get another cat. I loved him dearly and yes, it is indeed just like losing a family member. Remember although you are heartbroken and you only have known your cat for 14 years, your cat knew you ALL of its life and was happy to be with you! I hope one day when we all die, we are reunited somehow with our lost pets.

sad that many large dog breed owners consider cats as inconvenient pests because their dogs often times react viciously to cats. Who is the inconvenience in that equation... Hmmmmmmm......?
@Sagir323 жыл бұрын
I would agree. 4 years ago I was turned down for a PTSD service dog. They said I needed to get better some first. The dog has to be able to help you. My case is on the extreme level and so they said I needed to improve some first. I was crushed. I cried and cried. Later that week a fluffy orange tabby started showing up to eat with the ferals I feed. It got cold one day and he meowed to be let in. I let him in and he has become my fur Angel. I call him my soul kitty. Even though he is not a small cat, he sleeps on top of me and it is so comforting. His purrs help me go back to sleep after a nightmare. Over the past 4 years my nightmares have greatly reduced. I can go outside my house. I could probably get approved for a service dog now but I don’t want Pumpkin to feel usurped so I’m not applying. I already have an Angel.

Yes, they seem to be able to gauge a persons mood, attitude, and such. And they respond to that. I have only approached them once or twice with a marginally poor outlook, poor attitude. They don't want anything to do with me haha. And in that, I mean poor attitude, different than feeling down, because then, they will cuddle often

The same 5 years to maturity, neediness, obsession with food and unbelievable shedding, the only difference being in the shape of the head. Two Roombas and daily brushings which they thankfully enjoy are not enough, it’s everywhere ,you learn to live with it. Your cats are beautiful, such a lovely wild looking breed.

This is so accurate! My sweet Diego was either part or full Maine Coon. He was a big boy, had a really large fluffy tail, and was very talkative. You are so correct they can be dog-like...he would play fetch with a furry ball when he was young, liked water, meowed at me through the window when I would get home from work, and greeted me at the door. The fur is endless but so worth it...he was sooo loving. It’s been 3 years and I still miss him every day. ❤️

Their fur is ENDLESS 🤣🤣🤣 It certainly is! Another thing is they love belly rubs/scratches, unlike most cats, which is another dog-like trait. Jesse LIVED for belly scratches, while Sammy (not a Maine) wouldnt let us touch his tummy. Now we have a half Maine named Ziggy and again, he loves the belly scratching while his sister who isnt a Maine aint havin' it! And yep, the cross paws thing. Definitely.

I found out 15mos. later she had lymphoma and recently had to put her to sleep. 6 Weeks prior, an acquaintance of my daughter had a Maine Coon mix that her daughter was allergic to and needed a home. My daughter sent me a picture so I got her. I am so blessed as she is so affectionate and yes, needy but I love it. We got a Maine Coon from the shelter a few years ago that had been returned twice and was a bit of a basket case. He was hiding at the shelter in a cardboard box but I got a chair and put my hand inside his cage. Eventually he came out and sniffed me and the ladies at the shelter freaked out because they thought he was so afraid that he would be unable to be adopted. Well 3 yrs later he is the most wonderful cat we have ever had. He is a gentleman and talks to us all the time. Love the lion face and oh that tail.... Wish I had known about Maines a long time ago. What a wonderful animal and he is a real companion. Black too. We are in love.

I had a wonderful Maine Coon cat, Rita, for 21 years. I used a thin electric razor (like men use on their beards and sideburns) to remove the knots from the underbelly and for a sanitary trim for the bum. No pain or distress for her; no accidental skin cuts and the abundance of cat hair never showed a knotted clump had been removed. Also, I think the reason they track litter and even poo outside the box on occasion is that they are so big compared to the size of other cats that the don’t have room to maneuver in the litter tray.

Our dog Woofie (who was a Samoyed) crossed her front paws a lot she was a very feminine dog. We has her through out our teenage years, between our close-knit street. First, our grandparents rescued her from a shelter, then close friends across the street adopted her, then we adopted her after Mrs. Parish passed away from a deadly stroke. We kept her for as long as we could until we moved back up north. I really wish I could've kept her myself. But my narcissistic parents stole all the money I made busting my butt working all summer long so I could support myself on my own. I really miss that dog and she will always be in my heart till the day I die! Sorry it's not about main coons, but I did have a friend who had a black one, who she named "Romeo" many years later. He was the very first main coon I've ever seen in my life and I fell so in love with him! So that's my story. Sorry the post is sorta long. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Recently, my neighbor was moving and he decided to give away his gray 3 year old Maine Coon to a crappy shelter. On the day he moved out, he dropped by to say bye, and just so happened to have the cat with him in the carrier. He told me that he was about to bring it down to the shelter. I took one look at that scared, lonely cat, and decided instantly there's no way this fluff ball is going to any shelter. Today, I'm happy to say, I'm now the owner of a beautiful gray 3 year old Maine Coon!

The year our son was born we got a 1/2 Maine Coon, the two of them were best buds till they reached 17 yrs old. Unhappily C.C. had feline aids that showed up in his old age. He was a great cat and a perfect baby sitter. #1 I’d like to offer a suggestion for trimming mats and it only takes 1 person if the cat is laid back. Take a steel comb with round pins, put it between the cat’s skin and the mat and only trim off the fur on top of the comb. You never risk cutting the skin. #2 I use a mat with a rim to have under the cat’s food bowls most of the time the crumbs stay on the mat and it’s easily cleaned. #3 I found these awesome grooming gloves that are practically self cleaning. You clap your hands and the fur falls off, I have 3 Birmans and their fur is silky and yes it ends up everywhere you have my sympathy but I love them and their fur. I enjoyed your video about the Coons and your life with them. May you enjoy their love for many yrs.

That explains a lot! LOL! Ours are 1/4 Maine Coon and 3/4 Chinchilla Persian. One looks more like a Maine, the other more Persian (not the Peke type face), but both have the Maine needy feedy nattery nutty traits. They will cuddle for ages but if they get too hot they have to find a cooler spot. They converted my husband - who now wonders why we didn't get cats before. As for my mother-in-law, well . . . I caught her playing with them and stroking them to the sound of huge purrs. Another one converted - and this person didn't like any animals! They did, however, steal my son's ear plugs when he came to visit! So visitors - please make sure you shut the door behind you (although determined furballs will nip in very sneakily). My husband had to hide his ear plugs in the bedside drawer! Yes, constant meows when I go to the bathroom or shut them out of forbidden rooms! They also tell me when they've used the litter tray! Definitely the most fun, most friendly cats I've ever had.

i just recently adopted a fluffy ginger kitten and find out he is a mainecoon. as a 9 month old kitten he is almost as big as the adults and his paws are huge. but the thing he loves more than anything is lap sits and belly rubs and is the sweetest boy. the other 4 cats love him to death. great adoption on my part cause i think i got a good friend including the other 4 russian blue, solid black, taby and a short haired ginger boy

My cat crosses his front paws as well. I never heard that before, but I think it’s the most adorable thing.

My orange tabby is quite like these cats! He uses his paws a lot to communicate with us. He's super friendly and constantly pesters me. He's SO tolerant with things, especially when we're being annoying. He he also likes to sit on our laps and he sleeps on my bed. He also trusts us to pet his belly! He's definitely not a maine coon though, but we don't know where he came from. Maybe he grew up with some lol. No clue.

Very accurate description. I have two: my big boy Morris (The Cat) "Morrie", almost 3 y.o., and my little girl Jasmine, "Jasie", 1-1/2 y.o. Morrie is a silver/red tabby and Jasie is a "torbie", a silver/gray/tortoiseshell tabby. The are best of buddies, but with very different personalities -- Morrie has been the "tall, silent type" (his breeder's description) since he was a kitten, while Jasie is the communicator-in-chief. I'LL TAKE EXCEPTION WITH ONE DESCRIPTION IN THE VIDEO. Both of my cats are fastidious groomers and don't have the cleanliness issues in the video. They take care of everything they can control, exceptions being brushing and diarrhea. The latter has only happened one episode each, but required a rush to the sink for a deep-clean. Butt trims help immensely. They are indeed special cats and are my really good friends.

I have a golden tabby which i have come to see Maine Coon behavior in him. He is our favorite cat ever. Every single detail you outline here are what i see in him.

Im watching this with my 18.2 pounder laying on couch stretched out full belly exposed. Mine are terrified of people...when they hear a car drive in driveway...whoosh they are gone...they have only let one person into the house willingly and by that I mean greeting them at the door saying " okay you can come in you are welcome"...my whole phone is filled with pics of my cats...usually with my adult cat with his paw over or around the " kitten"...my adult with those round oval eyes...he always looks like he is half smiling...I love them and yes I had one and ended up with two..they love each other

On another note, I adopted Buttercup when she was 10, and I dint think she ever got brushed or bathed. She maintains her own fur fairly well. But I used to take her into the shower with me because I couldn't get her to submerge herself in a bathtub. She was very malnourished when I got her so for the first couple months I had her eating a wet food diet with high fat and protein- but that got stuck in her fur, made it all gross. Hence the need for the showers. I still have the scratch marks 😂😂

Your cat Molly looks and acts like the reincarnation of my cat Jack, who passed away several years ago. The markings are nearly identical, down to the target pattern on the side and white "socks", the only exception being Molly's left rear "sock" not being solid white. It's like having a video of Jack. Thanks!

Oh and Jack's only piece of clothing was that red sweater Molly is wearing!

I’ve had Maine coon cats for 15 years. I love them because there like dogs in a cat body.-Well, actually it’s one of the best traits. They follow you like a dog, they lay by you like a dog, they play chase AND all three of my maincoon cats took a bath with me ....-Not so good for asthmatic people, especially when you’re allergic to you’re fur baby😔
