Not nessacceraly all main characters, but really weird for them do just leave and have nothing said about it in the show

I like Sutherland and the premise intrigued me, but they took far too many artistic licenses, as if someone had merely skimmed the Wikipedia article on Designated Survivors. Having written emergency preparedness modules before, I can pinpoint the exact moment the show lost me. It was when they entered the Emergency Ops center for the first time where everyone is running around in a panic and one of the characters explains that no one knows what to do because this has never happened before. This is their ONE JOB! In real life, those people are prepared, professional, and waiting for the President to walk through the door. And before anyone says that it's Hollywood, I would like to point out that unless it's a comedy, TV doctors don't go into a panic at the sight of blood and TV lawyers don't tend to show up in court having never heard of Miranda Rights. This is just bad writing.

While this is a really good show, don’t get me wrong, many of these plot points came from The West Wing. While adapted to fit the “terrorist organization” thing, the president getting shot, the ship that wouldn’t turn around, not having the votes you thought you did on a gun control measure, the list goes on.
