Another great video! Question for you. How much do you pay for insurance and with who? Did you end up getting comp and collision? I think I am about to pull the trigger on buying an RS soon and I was quoted very high from Geico.
@TheRiceRocketeer4 ай бұрын
Yea, Geico is usually pretty high. So is Progressive. I pay 170 a month for both my indian and triumph with State Farm. Triumph alone was 91 or so. State farm is cheaper, but has worse customer service. It is all local brokers you will be dealing with. Progressive and Geico are much more organized and respond SUUUPER QUICK and without trouble. I used to have Progressive, and when I needed road assistance it was instantaneous. When I filed for a total loss, they were in touch with me on the regular and pretty much walked me through the entire thing. I guess you get what you pay for.

@@PoliBits-YT not originally, I've only been here 7ish years. There's probably circumstances I could change to make me not hate riding in the city, but between the traffic, and cops, and having a super steal-able bike, I'm content with only taking it out for track days.
@PoliBits-YTАй бұрын
@@ghosk Yeah I got it specifically to avoid traffic and its been great for it. Don’t ride like a total dick but you can just cruise on shoulder or center depending where you are and get up front. Also fun fact about nyc cops, last I checked, they arent allowed to chase bikes if they run as it causes more of a public safety hazard than cars so if you just take off they’ll 9/10 not chase you. For not getting stolen, that is a issue with just being in a big city, wheel locks help, I put kill switches on all my cars and now my bike so if you don’t know where it is you can’t start it, also most places cops dont care if you park on sidewalk in front of where you’re going as long as its not a touristy area because they know bikes get stolen every day.
@ghoskАй бұрын
@@PoliBits-YT tbh if I got a bike that I was more comfortable getting stolen I'd consider it. But then again, the drivers here are kind of terrible. Also I drove through times square once and the cops flagged me down just to check my insurance which really annoyed me. But yeah I'm turning my current bike into a race bike--if I end up getting another bike I might give it another go.

Hey....could you describe, show or point somewhere to your camera setup? I ride also and I am interested basically in a helmet mounted dashcam type of capability that will record in high resolution onto a micro SD card. I am not interested in the most expensive though cost is not a concern....I would just like to pick something up that is known to cover the basic base that I described above. I ride in a country where if the foreigner doesn't have some sort of proof what happened if something goes wrong, the foreigner can be made to pay even if the local made the mistake. Thanks in advance, I'm hoping you can save me some time.
@TheRiceRocketeer4 ай бұрын
If you are primarily using it for proof footage, I would suggest an insta360. Captures all angles, and you can re-focus the video on what you would like to capture after the fact. I use a gopro on my helmet, with a chin mount. I have been meaning to try Motoradd's helmet mount, as I have heard great things about it.

hey man ive been researching motorcycles a lot because I want to get one someday soon. I'm a fat(320lbs maybe) 5 '9" or 5'10" 24 year old guy and I really want a bike like this or like the honda cb650r and I want to take it from Georgia(where I live to Washington state). I also want to daily drive it to and from work and on my days off. is it possible to turn this bike or that honda bike into a more touring kind of bike? can I put storage bags on both sides and one on top and have someone as a passenger? I really want a bike because I'm trying to live a more free life and a motorcycle would be so nice. I would ride responsibly and wear the proper gear too. can you help me?
@TheRiceRocketeer4 ай бұрын
Hey! So, I think for what you’re describing, you’ll likely want an adventure bike, or a cruiser. I assume that you like the look of a sports bike, but keep in mind that if you add bags and a passenger to either of these bikes, The sport bike look will be lost regardless. Also, more importantly, you won’t be comfortable on either for long distances, especially loaded up with bags and a passenger. Adventure bikes, provide the ability to do everything, and come with Mount for racks, bags, passenger seats, etc. The same goes for cruisers. The cb650r and strs are capable of doing the distance, but arent really built for touring. They certainly will do it, but not comfortably. On your note about a free life, couldnt agree more. Getting into riding will change your life for the better!

@@TheRiceRocketeer i don’t really like adventure bikes or cruisers to be honest. Now that I saw the whole video, you are taking way too many risks for just a commute. Particularly on the bridge, where you were aggressively too close to the cars ahead of you. It only gets worse after, once you start all that lane splitting at high speed. Drivers are not expecting lane splitting and that can get hairy pretty fast. Ibdo lane split during a red light and even then, I get some heat form startled drivers. I live in Westchester County and sometimes I think of riding to the office in Manhattan but seeing the horrible state of the streets, all the jaywalking, all the stop and go, all the hassle to park and hope you do not get a ticket, or worse, have your bike stolen in broad daylight, and I say nah...
@TheRiceRocketeer4 ай бұрын
Yea, I get a little feisty sometimes. If you ride in the city, you have to be on alert all the time. Parking for work is an absolute nightmare. What neighborhood do you work in?
@comentariopolitico10144 ай бұрын
@TheRiceRocketeer Midtown Manhattan. I have seen a few bikes parked next to the Citi-bikes "pods" but I am not sure if it is okay or not regarding tickets. I also noticed that the bikes are covered, which shows me that these are people living nearby, I guess. For me to bring my cover as well would be an extra hassle. Another thing I hate about AMA, that they say nothing about creating parking spaces for motorcycles in big cities. The only city I have seen a consistent parking scheme is Boston.
@TheRiceRocketeer4 ай бұрын
Yea, midtown is a hard sell for parking a bike… bringing your cover is definitely needed to minimize exposure, but you are right, at that point it is a whole dance. Thats what I do, and I’m used to it, but its alot.
