That's because you don't play tennis. For tennis players it's hard to get the return back in the court, but you're not afraid it's going to hit you. Tennis players have enough practice & coordination to at least get their racquet on the ball to protect it from hitting their body. The only time tennis players get hit is when playing doubles because when you're standing closer at net you sometimes don't have time to react. And that's no fun, I've had the wind knocked out of me.

I think someone should clarify you are talking about the receiving ball speed. The other posters are assuming you mean the starting velocity. What he means is that the cricketers return balls that strike the bat/wickets at speeds equal to tennis returners at the string bed. The initial velocity of the bowlers fastest throws are around 160kph at a high point of release and strike grass which reduced torsion on the ball as well as friction on which is also a completely different ball than a tennis ball (the physics of the ball bounce, etc). It’s pretty amazing what pro cricket bowlers can do. I’m American so try not to be biased but the bowlers throws are still more impressive than the 100+ mph MLB pitchers throws.

Jeff Thompson was 100mph at the receiving end. That too with a cricket hard ball. That too with minimal protection for the 70s batsmen. Just saying 🙄
@yougood809
@yougood809 3 жыл бұрын
@@muneebi8273 It's way slower than a tennis serve, but the pitch is shorter and the cricket bat is heavier than in Tennis, so I'll give you that. But still, the Tennis serve is faster than the fastest ball ever even at the baseline of the receiving end. It's less dangerous than cricket, but much harder to return.

@@yougood809 its not training its expierience. you learn to anticipate automatic. you dont need to think while serve where its going, its becomes an instinct and you just react to it without thinking. it usually is actually pretty easy to tget the right corner and all but every once in a while you face a player you cant read then you struggle big time. and yes i was used to return 200+kmh serves. the really difficult part is to return it in a way that is one one hand not to risky on the other dont give to much advantage to the server. its so fast that you almost never have the perfect sweet spot just on reaction as the speed differs.

When you face serve like this, you have to back up to receive. I never stay at the same spot to receive. I played a D1 college player once, at a time he was already in the 50's . The serve still had a lot of speed and kick, so the only way is to receive further back, or it would kick up too fast to my eye, unless I were Federer and could get the ball before it bounced that high. Then I played also rec players who could only dink the ball over the net. In that case I had to stand near the service line to receive.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die". BUT, mercy said "I dont want to give them what they deserve. I don't want them to be cut off from Me. I love them despite all they have done/will do against Me. I want to give My children another chance. I want them to come home and live in My love again". And love said "Jesus, God's Son, came down as a Man, our representative, suffering every temptation, pain and struggle we have ever faced, yet without sin. He took all our sins (past/present/ even future) to the cross and then crucified EVERY ONE on our behalf. Justice was paid on the cross so that we can be free from Hell's punishment, experience Gods mercy of forgiveness of sin and live in His love. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (turn away from our sin and pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to obey His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. If you have any questions let me know
