Well, it's actually to avoid it getting in her eyes but I'm sure she does like it. Even captive bred alligators do not like to be picked up and she doesn't mind them touching her. Very impressive for a previously abused animal :)

sorry to break it to you but reptilians usually dont like being touched and we shouldnt try to give them human emotions. An alligator closing his eyes doesnt mean he enjoys it. He might just tolerate it. It might annoy him. There is no easy way to tell

Honestly, getting Rex a pink pool was a good choice even if she wasn’t a girl, since apparently crocodilians really like the colour pink for some reason. Crocodilians (primarily the Cuban Crocodile and West African Dwarf Crocodile) have been shown picking pink flowers (such as the Bougainvillea) to either play with or just laying on top of themselves.

No it really isn’t. Alligators are NOT meant to be a pet and NOT meant to be affectionate. Rex was taken from the wild just when she was hatchling, she was taken away from her wild habitat and was not cared for properly.
