Meloxicam for the win, It helps with swelling and is a nsaid pain relief medication used for arthritis. This is a great thing for your bird friends. I've had to dose my older pets with the medication when they needed it and it is wonderful for them (the other thing we did was make sure they had geriatric bed ramps and boxes ect.) Heat pads (or warm rice bags) were a huge hit.

You need to make sure shes had something to eat before you give the maloxican. Im Sure thats anti inflammatory and can give them similar digestive issues as anti inflammatories give us. Sometimes gives them shxts, stomach cramps

If using a larger display enclosure for a neo simply put substrate everywhere, but both hides and water--and decor-- at one end. The snake will have all it needs in a small space. Over the weeks and months you'll catch your little one exploring more and you gradually expand its "world" out, and upgrade to larger hides and water bowl. You'll be surprised by how quickly they start exploring and enjoying the larger space. Species specific, of course, as to the size of that enclosure for the eventual adult. Bigger is better is not true for all.

im definitely nowhere near ready for any pets beyond my cats, but my dream pets are hognoses and crested geckos. i probably have a few years before i would be okay getting either of them, but spending that time researching is gonna be a big big help for what i need to get and how i should and shouldnt care for them. i grew up in a house that wasnt good to reptiles and i want to be the best home for any pets i ever have :D

Meloxicam (sp?) is used for a wide variety of critters. Sandi Brock with Sheepishly Me uses it on her sheep after a weird birth, bad feet, etc.

Meloxicam(sorry if I spelled it wrong) is a great pain killer for animals as pain relief lasts a long time. My dog was prescribed meloxicam after she pinched a nerve in her neck and briefly became paralyzed. We gave her a dose every 2 days for about a month and every now and again when she had a bad day she got another dose even years later(obviously under vet supervision). My neighbour is still taking meloxicam for her pain as well so its one of those medications that's great cross species.

i had a budgie that was on meloxicam and his dose was 0.01ml which was so impossible to measure that the vet just said do a small drop bless but yes they're usually alright with the flavour because it's sweet/honey-like

My dog has arthritis and was prescribed something like Meloxicam (I am not from the USA, so names may differ). She had to start with a double dose and then have a single dose EVERY DAY, or she will start being in pain again. I don't know the rules for birds as they probably will react differently, but could it be that the medicine has not built up enough in her system to combat the pain?
