What It's Like to Live With Two Dogs on a Narrowboat

For the past four years, our lives have revolved around the serene and adventurous world of living on a narrowboat. The tranquility of the water, the ever-changing scenery, and the sense of freedom have always been our constant companions. However, amidst the gentle lapping of waves and the mesmerizing dance of the river, one thing has been missing from our lives: a furry companion to share this extraordinary journey with.
But this week, luck has finally smiled upon us as we find ourselves entrusted with the care of two enchanting toy poodles: the delightful Susie and the charming George. These adorable bundles of joy have brought an entirely new dimension to our boating experience, introducing us to a captivating array of responsibilities and heartwarming moments.
From the moment they stepped paw onto our narrowboat, Susie and George have become the center of our world. Their wagging tails and eager eyes have transformed our mornings into a flurry of excitement as we embark on daily adventures together. We now rise with the sun, ready to take on the myriad of tasks that come with dog ownership.
Walking along the river has taken on a whole new significance as we walk Susie and George. Their tiny paws patter along the uneven terrain, their curious noses leading the way, and sometimes they even end up in the water learning how to walk the plank.
Beyond the walks, we have discovered the art of grooming, a process that has become an intimate bonding experience for us all. Living on a boat has always offered a multitude of possibilities, and this week, it revolves entirely around our furry companions.
As the sun sets over the tranquil waters, casting a golden glow on our boat, we find ourselves reflecting on the joy that Susie and George have brought into our lives. Beyond the responsibilities, beyond the walks and grooming sessions, they have shown us the immeasurable beauty of companionship. Poodles are water dogs. They could not care less about being wet and muddy. They were designed to be that way. The standard poodle is an excellent hunting dog. Everybody forgets what the breed was originally made for. The full sized poodles are fantastic retrievers.

Poodle are Velcro dogs, currently I'm owned by a Black Miniature Poodle, Hollie who is 14yrs old. For the last 14yrs , I've had to leave the bathroom door open a gap 😮 so Velcro ❤ can come in to check on me 😂

The dogs are so cute! Was that doggy toothpaste? I remember when I was young I used human toothpaste for my dog and the vet got so mad, because human toothpaste is toxic! I felt horrible! Luckily my dog was fine. 💜
