I had a replica of the Twister Ram with the V10 for 6 years, the engine was fun, ate gas, was my daily, and higher mileage at 266k when the engine blew up. Spent more on replacing the entire engine than I did on the truck, but it was worth it! I got a 95 V10 4x4 2500 fully restored in my sights for my second Twister build, 112k miles. This video popped up and I had to watch it. Hearing that V10 flutter got me excited to have one again! Thanks for the video!

Yup, definitely built to tow. It's got the character and low down torque of a diesel. It gets nowhere near the mpg of a diesel, though. Years back, during the last period of spiked gas prices, I towed my 33' 5th wheel the length of California getting 6mpg and paying $4.35/gal. With the $100 limit that most credit cards had on at-the-pump transactions, I had to use two different cards at every stop. Other than that, though, I've got nothing bad to say about the V10.

I have 2 of these trucks, both of mine are 1995, one has 6xx,xxx miles its the 2500, the other i just bought yesterday is the 3500 dually, it has 236,672 miles, I am also in the process of selling my 2001 ram 1500 with the 5.9 The best thing about the v10 is gas mileage doe not change no matter if you are towing or just idling. Both my v10s have exhaust leaks, parts are stupidly hard to find, even more so on the dually that the 2500. But I haven't found it too expensive to work on. But yea both of mine are the long beds, on my 2500 I'm the 3rd owner my dad was the second owner. On the 3500 I am the 2nd owner.

@ConcussedGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@moneybitches4796 I wouldn't say "much" work. Because if you go cutting and welding on the intake one little leak and you're gonna be rebuilding the bottom end of your engine. You could theoretically get any parts to fit on at engine it's just about time and money and of course the quality of the fabrication skills.

As a former owner of one of those, I disagree with everything except the gas mileage and performance. Overall it was one of the best vehicles I have owned. I had it for almost 20 years and put well over 100k hard miles (towing and off road use) on it. Never had any problems other than normal wear items (brakes, etc) and it was easy to work on. I sold it to a friend when I bought a newer Cummins powered Dodge. He installed a snow plow on it and is still using it almost daily. Aside from freeway speed towing, I would recommend one of those trucks any day. Diesel fuel is now almost double the price of gasoline here now, so the mileage doesn't seem so bad anymore.

These engines have soured me on Dodges. I will never buy another Dodge. First engine had a cracked piston due to someone mixed up the lay pattern of the plug wires in the plastic conduit carrying the wires to the drivers side. There are warnings about this in the factory manual. About a month age the harmonic balancer spun off the front. Dodge was to cheap to put a keyway there. Got a new balancer and it wobbled on the crank shaft. The end of the crank wore down to small for the new pulley. Then last week Lost oil pressure. So now I'm on my third engine and the truck only has 125k miles on it. Dodge, NEVER AGAIN!

At just under 270K miles the radiator, water pump, timing chain, and front main seal, need some love. But I really can't afford to drive it right now anyway. I believe I paid for every option available only to have the front ball joints leave the building before the first year was up. It was the last American made vehicle I bought and ever will buy. I agree with towing part bud, it's actually the reason I bought mine, so I could pull my 32' camper. With the right tires, it's very capable offroad, but like you said, the turning radius sucks

I get 8 mpg in the city with my 03 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 HO tf this big V10 gets 9!?!? Something is wrong with my car

What temp does your v10 run at usually? Mine usually stays right at or slightly above 130. Is that normal for these things? Heater is Luke warm too and I tested the thermostat by leaving the radiator cap open and after about 10 or more minutes idling it still didn’t open. It never overheats though. Any thoughts? I just put in a new temp sensor too.
@projectauto19284 жыл бұрын
Mine usually runs just at or just under 210. Your thermostat might be stuck open or your heater core may need flushed

@@projectauto1928 Thanks man. Information on these engines is extremely hard to come by.

And now fuel is over $5 a gallon. I have a 1000 mile trip coming up next month with my 99 v10. Yay
@Matthew-ou2ie3 жыл бұрын
Do you have the 47RH transmission? What's the final drive ratio? My '99 has the 47RE, and when I hit 55mph the RPMs drop from about 2400 to 1500 when the TCC locks up. It feels like it has a fifth gear.

You mentioned there’s no problems with the brakes but like on my 2002 Avalanche and it’s a common problem when that sensor goes bad somewhere that makes your ABS and the brake light come on simultaneously
@in-rust-we-trust2831 Жыл бұрын
Usually it's that or the wire broke for the abs sensor had that issue with my 98 V10 2500 2wd
