Hey matt just found you and subbed. Your vids are great man! Me and my partner are about to leave for full time travel and hopefully will be in South/Central America over winter! Love that you don't wear a mask everywhere we are wondering if anybody hassles you anywhere you've been so far? Nicaragua looks like heaven
@MattKramerTravels3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ellis, sounds like you have some exciting adventures coming up! In terms of wearing a mask, I make sure to follow the local guidelines where ever I am traveling. From my travels, I have found it to be more common for people to wear a mask in cities and less so in more remote areas. Sometimes I also take off my mask for filming 😁. Enjoy your travels!

I am a nicaraguan and that kind of experience is a shame but it happens everywhere around the world. Not all Nicaraguan people are like that. We are very helpful and kind. So sad you found one of us who was not the nice one. My recommendation is always to book a taxi or a transport before you travel. I recommend you to travel witg A Tu Destino.

as a resident. I can appreciate a little empty. But it's not boring, the surfers are back and tourist that want to stay away from big population. Don't worry , the people will be back , bigger than ever. It's a buyers market. Get in on the ground. They're working on getting the coast road that goes by all the surf beaches paved. It's the place to be. got my lot for 20,000 close to the beach a in beautiful canopy . I want more people to come down. I'm retired and now in the tourist business. I love it here.

I lived in San Juan 5 years, and moving back in Jan. It’s as safe as place. There are places you don’t go , all over. Big cities are the worst. Little San Juan is mellow.. be friendly, get treated friendly. I would drop off 20 donuts at the police station on chocolata rd. twice a month. After a while I knew most of them. Never got stopped much at police security stops. I would get waved through. I was easily recognizable, the guy on the atv with the border collie on the back that has Sodas and donuts.

I’m visiting right now. there are not many flights to Nicaragua so we entered through Costa Rica and then crossed the border to Nicaragua right to San Juan del sur. You will need a COVID test to enter Nicaragua so I recommend if your in the states to take it over there because it Costs around 50 bucks in Costa Rica. If you have any other questions lmk

Hey Mattt, I've been in SJDS for 6-7 weeks now. You failed to show all the fancy restaurants on the beachfront, serving rather expensive food, meaning about $8US and up. Luckily for me my Hostel, CasaOro (off season rate of $230 a month for a private room)has a kitchen and I cook most of my meals here Everything I need is within 2-3 blocks, fruit stands, a guy that sells the best chicken to cook, small markets with all sorts of condiments, staples but very expensive if its imported.. A can of Baking Powder has $5.30. So buy locally produced and Nicaraguan made products, they're of very high quality and superior in some ways as they mostly are organic and non GMO. The fresh fish stalls are at the far south end of the local beach, I"ve been picking up fresh white and black tuna for 110 Cord ($3.30US approx) a pound and Red Snapper too, the local fishermen go out almost daily and come back with a small catch that seems to be sustainable. There are a lot more small, restaurants as you walk around the central area of town, a nice plate of local food can be had for $3-4. I ran into your Corn Island videos before this one. I appreciate those as I'm heading there on Feb. 14, 2022. Best way from where I am is to take the chicken buses to Rivas then on to Managua and pick up a small plane to Big Corn, $222 round trip but you can leave the return leg open ended then a short open boat ride to Little Corn $6. Christina's Guest house is very well reviewed, private rooms with kitchenets for $120 US for 8 nights. The scuba diving with Dolphin Divers is $65 for 2 tanks or $300 for 10, they give discounts to pros with instructor or dive master certs, about 50% off. I hope I've helped to some of your viewers with some useful info. Love to know where you are now, Will subscribe to you now. Keep your smile on ! Robin PS. I've been traveling on and off for the last 5 years, southern Europe, Spain to Greece, Africa, Mexico, Baja, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Malta, Virgin Islands, Hawaii. Italy and Croatia where two of my favorites.
