My best friend spends $100-$200/month on new books. She has done this for 50 years now. She once said to me that she feels guilty for spending so much money on "just" books. I told her that she is supporting authors and that is an admirable thing to do. Also, another great is, when she is done reading these books, she gives them to me. I, in turn, donate them to our local library. Everyone wins. Sending loving and peace-filled thoughts to everyone.

Is she reading all the books ? If yes then it is not waste of money.

This is such a nice comment ❤️ what kind of books do you like? 😊
@lillysummeroriginals1213 Жыл бұрын
@@Natalie_SH I am open to reading anything that I come across which sounds interesting. There are genres I come back to more often than others, genres I typically prefer, but I am not going to say no to reading an interesting sounding book just due to how the author and publisher choose to classify it. Having an open mindset when reading and selecting my books have allowed me to come across so many great offers and stories, a lot of the time hidden gems, that I would have missed because the classification is not usually my type of thing.

What a fun glimpse inside your workday. To those of us that adore all things book related, it is a wonderland! Your store is much larger than it appears from the outside. Love the little tags on the books that give the buyer a quick overview of the story. As a reader I appreciate that extra effort. I admire bookstore owners that hang in there in a digital world to offer something you can hold in your hands, get a crick in your neck as you walk down every aisle reading the titles, and lovingly purchase. Once home, to place on a shelf or on a side table ready to open the new adventure. The owners are truly blessed to have such a special employee working there! 💕 📚🙌🏻

Years ago, my dream job was to be a photo journalist 5:11 for National Geographic, but my career changed for housewife and mother. When my kids were school age, I went back to college for a Library Technology Degree. I also do photography and have since 1983. Now I am 63 and retired, but continue with my photography. I see your job and it’s location as ideal in so many ways. My in-laws live in Graham, WA, a bit of a jaunt from your bookstore, and it’s my hope to purchase a book there during our travels sometime in the next 1-2 years. I always look forward to your content that has anything to do with books. I am also hoping you write another book or create a picture book of your water colors. I am an avid collector of children’s books, fairy and forest animal books and Steinbeck’s books. I find the search for the most vintage copies to be rewarding and fulfilling. Thank you for the time, talent and effort required to provide a rare window into the various aspects of your life.

I LOVE books, and have read a lot in the past few years, and I then pass them onto a charity shop, for others to enjoy. I live a quiet life too, here in West Devon, England, with my beautiful black rescue greyhound Madge - who can be quite mad! We can go days without seeing another human being, but that does not bother me. I love reading my books, and get totally lost in them. I write poetry myself, all about my experiences in nature that is all around me. My friend, who is a flutist, wrote some music to go with one of my poems, and it sounds just beautiful! I am 66 years young, and am only just finding my true self. Love and hugs to you, from Jilly & Madge xxx

Hello Paola! On Sunday my husband and I took a leisurely drive to your quaint hometown from Seattle, and had dinner at the Old Schoolhouse which was quite yummy. We also stopped into your bookstore just before it closed and although you were not there, we got to see your beautiful art and book! Well done! It's all just as beautiful in person as we see online. We also met a kind author who is new to work at the bookstore and she was so welcoming and told us a bit about the exciting journey she is on in the world of writing for an upcoming movie. How wonderful it is to live and work in a place that supports local artists such as yourself. We shall return again, and until then I pray many blessings for you and hope to meet you in person next time.

I visited Trails End Bookstore back in mid December. I remember on the Saturday I was leaving I went right when they opened and met Paola who was working. She commented on the beautiful collection of Sherlock Holmes stories they sell that I was purchasing. Then she told me a story of her experience downhill skiing as we both got into chatting about how we don’t like skiing which is odd coming from two Washingtonians! I highly recommend going to this bookstore, it is the best I’ve ever been to and they have a wonderful selection for all ages and have all genres. I will be visiting again in December the same weekend I was last year. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing Paola again, I am a huge fan! With ❤️ from Seattle

Bookstores are magical places! Before I retired, there was a tiny old, used bookstore close to where I worked, so my lunch break often found me haunting the narrow shadowy aisles, craning my neck and squinting hard to make out authors and titles looking for something with my name on it to read on breaks or take home and treasure! It is now many years since I have been able to go back and escape into that marvellous place, but your vlog the autumn morning brought back warm memories. Thank you! I am so very glad you had such a nice trip home. Sending love hugs from the Canadian prairies to you and yours. ❤️🐾❤️🇨🇦❤️🐾❤️

This is so heartwarming. I grew up in a book store where my Mom worked at the time and loved everything about that. The smell of newly arrived books in the storage area, the aura of shelves filled with colorful covers, that sound when opening a brand new book, the feel of having yet another story in your hands, ever entering people through the squicky door, strangers quietly opening pages to read a line or two... this was and is magical to me... even more today remembering that time... Thank you, Paola 🤗

I had a hard time and stopped to do a lot of things that I used to like including watching you videos , and now that I'm seen again it's easy to say that you have such a beautiful and honest vibe. Sending you love from Brasil ❤️

I just watched your last two videos back to back. I too am a sensitive person, and thanks to you, you taught me that. I am so incredibly grateful for you, your channel, and for teaching me of my sensitivity. Of all the videos you have done, the last two really resonated with me... changing who I am... I need to work on that, I'm learning through watching your channel. I actually got tears in my eyes when you were speaking in this video about it not being super exciting. I couldn't explain it at first. Something about being highly sensitive, I believe. Sometimes emotions well up and tears come, and you just can't explain it. But, I believe in this case, it's because I could relate to so much in these two videos. Not exciting, boring putting books away, monotonous work... it's all work that I have enjoyed my whole working life. I used to have people say.. oh, that's boring doing the same thing every day! Not to me. I found things I enjoyed within the monotony... seeing how fast I could count papers, staple sets together, build boxes, pile reams of paper, bind books, learn "personalities " of machines. What made the same exact model machine produce or have problems that another did or did not. It also allowed me a lot of time to simply think, work things out in my mind. Please don't change your channel. Though I don't know you personally, I love you and what you do. I am so incredibly grateful. You've opened my eyes to who I am. I've come to realize that both of my parents were/are highly sensitive. (Mom passed away) I believe my new dog is also highly sensitive. It's a rainy day in Northern CA today. My husband is working, and I have a few hours to decompress. I used part of that time to watch your two videos, and my dog Sierra snuggled her nose into my neck during the moments she wasn't watching Iger.😊❤ I also found it interesting that you used to enjoy horror, and that has changed for you. Though I never enjoyed horror, I used to be able to handle watching or hearing of more violent and sad things than I am able to now. I too experienced some trauma. My grandmother unexpectedly died in front of me. The sounds, the visual, getting a fax machine noise every time I kept trying to dial 911, and suffering an injury trying to save her life, that left me with YEARS of anxiety. Then my my mom passed away five years later. She was my best friend. Now i understand more than ever why we were such best friends, having so much in common, being hsp's.

Oh, and I didn't mean like the little things doesn't have value, just that often is possible to just pass by a beautiful flower without noticing it. Your videos shows the beauty of life that sometimes might be forgotten. Excuse me, a bit tired today!! Hugs
