I am so grateful that your channel exists! ❤ It's my favourite craft-related channel for various reasons: Your editing! I love the little faces and text you put in, it makes me smile and laugh. Your vibe! Your voice is so comforting and you come across as honest and really loving your craft. Your video ideas! Will it Ami is my favourite and I also love the videos where you try out free patterns! You inspire me to get better! I know you don’t like the crochet mystery series much (which was the first video of yours I watched) but I like the idea of people working together on a similar goal. I’m one of those people who is quite picky about voices on podcasts and KZbin videos. And when I first watched your videos, I had a similar thought of, “Oh, I don’t know if this voice is for me” (which says NOTHING about you!). But what does say something about you is that the energy and creativity kept bringing me back and, because of increased familiarity and perhaps shifts in microphone levels, I stopped thinking about your voice at all and was just drawn into the content. I just want to confirm what you already know, that people making those comments are describing their own preferences, but also demonstrating an inability to simply choose other content without making it about someone else. That’s a them problem, but you are great.
@Tfwcrochet

I'm very glad that you decided to start this channel. I like watching because you are so genuine and passionate about crochet. I also like that you are not making the same 5 patterns that all of the other content creators are making. Originality keeps it interesting. As I was watching I was making a googly-eyed monster. I made one for each of my students for Christmas, but 4 students left early for the break so I saved theirs to do later. Well, later has come! We are back to school tomorrow so I need hurry up. Luckily they are quick to make.

I really enjoy your videos, thank you for sticking around! I've seen people do community projects where people send in granny squares they've made, and the person makes a blanket or something with them. you could also have people send in scrap yarn and make a plushy or something that represents the community. Or have people make "parts" and you assemble them into some crazy frankengurumi! I'm working on the dragonfly shawl pattern in the Bag O day channel and I'm using Carron Blossom Cakes in the color Blossoms.

You're my favorite crochet KZbinr! You feel like a friend that I'm just crocheting along with. So many other crochet KZbinrs give off a superiority vibe, and you're open that people might have other opinions than you and they're still valid. Now when I'm hunting for a new yarn or I see a new kit, I like to check your channel to see if you've reviewed it, because I value your opinion. That doesn't mean I always agree (I like Woobles more than you do, lol), but I can always see your point of view. I've thought about starting a KZbin channel before, but one of the things holding me back is how badly I sometimes take criticism. I also have thin skin, so it's comforting to hear that someone that I look up to (that's you) has problems with that too. If there's any piece of advice I'd give is that there's no such thing as too old to learn something new. I'm a serial hobbyist, I now own two small businesses, and I'm a performer which is almost a business of its own. I'm 43, and I have no plans to slow down. I'm finishing up a small pink kitten for a friend who just found out that she has cancer.

Congrats on a year on YT! I keep going back and forth on starting a real YT channel because people don't read blogs as much any more and that makes me sad. I haven't updated my blog in so long....However, my biggest constraint right now is time. I am going to university full time to get my MFA in creative writing and a M.ED in secondary education (I already have a BA in English and Religious Studies and a MA in English (literature and folklore)) and currently working full time teaching 10th graders. I have no extra time at the moment. Maybe one day. What I am working on is actually inspired by you. I've been looking at the Caron Halo yarn for a while and couldn't come up with anything to do with it. Then you made your video where you made a hexagon cardigan out of it. That is what I am doing. I picked the color granite frost. My brain was all "It will go with everything". That was all the further I thought. The shade of the greys in it make it look like I am crocheting with dryer lint. No joke. After making a trip to Joann's to pick another color because I couldn't unsee the lint, my best friend encouraged me (if you call saying thing like "you could make lint chic a thing" and debating with me if it would be 'lint chic' or 'lint core' encouragement) to finish the link cardigan. I'm almost done with the first hexagon.

Dear Rachel, I am in the middle of watching your video, but I have to write my comment now! I love the way you do your videos, you are so natural and honest and I really enjoy that. When you sit on your couch and crochet, I just crochet along and it’s really great. I do have a recurring depression (on meds now and on menopause HRT as well, that really helps!) and know a lot about self consciousness and self confidence. I so glad to hear that it helps you a lot! I am 46 and starting my channel, so you really give me hope that I am not too old for the adventure. I am doing crochet as a hobby and so the most I would do as far as making money is starting a KZbin channel. The kit was Hardicrafter, but it didn't come with a crochet hook (interestingly enough 2.5mm was the only size I didn't have). So, I grabbed my own yarn and the appropriate hook for it and started it. Honestly love the color I chose for this than the cotton yarn they have (using a pastel orange baby yarn for this one). Did get the hook (had to go to my local Japanese dollar store to get the size). As for what I'm working on... My custom diamond painting of Vulpix from an image I created.

Happy New Year and congratulations on one year! You are so relatable and so much fun to watch, and I'm grateful for the niche you've found in the crochet KZbin community. I'm getting into Tunisian crochet, so during this video I was practicing some of the basic stitches.

Happy 1 Year!!! I totally get it with the actual critical comments - I seem to only get them when I'm already having a bad day so I have to wait before I can respond reasonably. I notice "lazy vocal fry" more than your natural consistent undertone. If that made any sense. I mean the people who really need to just take a breath and finish what they're saying and then if they feel the need just edit the breath out. I started with a different channel and discovered I was doing this and it's been a process trying to correct it. I am correcting it because I needed to learn to breathe and regroup my thoughts and run on sentences. And I was starting to "feel" the vocal fry and it was bothering my throat so obviously I needed to start working towards speaking more clearly. I just finished filming going through my ridiculous amount of WIPs so I'm not actually crocheting at the moment - just getting my video files in order. I'll work on my Basic V-neck Sweater from Heart Hook Home here in a bit. I can't wait to see where you're channel goes - I love your kit reviews and I even picked up a series of Woobles during Black Friday to give my opinion at some point. That might even be a fun collab but that was a SPEND to get their 3 kit series. The camera I usually use is not bad at all - I think with tax around $700 with a mic and some accessories. But I totally used my phone for my original channel for ages and intentionally bought a better Samsung so I could get by on my phone for a while - I couldn't stomach needing to replace a dying phone AND get a big girl camera at the time. Even now I'm sometimes like eh, my phone is already out I'm just going to film and nobody notices. Capcut on desktop has some amazing voice features and worst case videos under 30 min you can run through Adobe podcast for free and it really improves a lot of phone mic/background sins. Congrats again and thanks so much as you are one of the ones who helped inspire me to switch to having a crochet/knitting channel 😊. It's way more fun than a decluttering and organizing channel lol.

I'm really glad your channel popped up in my feed a couple of months ago. l like every one of your videos I've seen so far. I especially like your "Will it ami?" series and the videos where you try the different kits. I'm currently working on Snoopy from a kit I bought several ago at Barnes and Noble, I think. It's a kit that comes with a book with 12 pattern and materials to make three of the projects in the book. I think it would be cool if you found a similar kit and reviewed it.

I really like your channel because you're just so... normal? You seem like a genuinely nice person whom I would like to hang out with. Your eyes are so friendly. Don't know why people hate on your voice. It's just a normal voice... Mine's definitely worse. When I used to be on teamspeak back in the day people would mistake me for a little boy even though I was an adult woman. My voice has lowered ever since but I still sound like a boy in the beginning of puberty. 🙈 I'm so happy for you that you can love yourself more now than you used to. Maybe you could do a crochet along that's splittet into different parts? I've never done Amigurumi before and maybe I would try. 😅 I'm excited for the upcoming months. I was working on the Solanum Shawl by MorbenDesign. It's my best friend's birthday on February 1st and since we live so far apart that we only see each other once a year, I'm making her this triangle shawl. She's into casual goth style when she's not working and I was looking for hours for the right pattern. And now I just can't stop. 😂 If anyone is reading this far and is actually interested in the yarn I use: It's Sultan Shadow in the Color Purple from Hobbii.

I'm working on my second plushie ever. The first one came out so crooked. And if you know me that wouldn't surprise you. I have 1 eye that looks higher than the other so I literally can't see straight. Until I saw this video I wouldn't have guessed that you have only been doing this a year. I'm sensitive too and what helps me is to try to imagine the person's voice saying what they have typed.
