@dute99188 жыл бұрын
This clip makes it look easy to get a test drive. I'm thinking that's only the case because the press was shooting a story. My father - who had been previously invited to a Tesla test drive event - walked in to the dealership at Yorkdale, Toronto; when he asked for a test drive, they looked at him as though he had three heads and had no idea how to handle the request. The net answer - intermingled with a litany of questions, some testing wealth - was "no". When he told them that he'd been previously invited to an event, they told him that's a head office "thing" and had nothing to do with them... I realize that there are a lot of people ready to buy a Tesla without ever driving them; but, I'm not sure what is hoped to be gained by turning down interested potential customers who would like to.

@ourparanormalworld9 жыл бұрын
Once they become common on the road , as more buyers purchase worldwide, the costs come down. There will be other companies doing the same thing and upping the game at lower retail prices like with all in one personal touchscreen desktop pc and tablets. Apple led the way, but Amazon and other companies followed behind meaning some were better, or some worse like the advent of the motor car. We have Prius Taxi's and similar models here in the UK. Taxi's must be replaced every three years, so over time this car could soon be on our roads here in the UK.
@pachy4449 жыл бұрын
They will run into problems, it's ludicrous to sell a car to the public that has a mode where the electronics make steering decisions, the best on board piloting system for a car is the human brain.
+Maddie Siegmund You can't prove anything with that type of footage, even if it's completely genuine as you can't say what the outcome "would have" been without psychic powers. I'm doubtful that someone can look out of a windshield & only be seeing things to the right, it's also very possible the Tesla system helped in that situation but the idea of cars drivers being able to be less vigilant with the knowledge that the car will make up for their lack of concentration is a very worrying thought.
@pachy4449 жыл бұрын
+Maddie Siegmund To be clear... I'm saying that if drivers think the car will save them, their driving will gradually be more careless. Tesla are playing a dangerous game by using this gimmick to sell cars.
@maddiesiegmund56239 жыл бұрын
pachy444 I'm seriously confused as to why you think humans are such flawless drivers. As if stupid people aren't already careless. People fall to distracted driving -all- the time, or have medical issues, get impatient, and make mistakes. It's more likely that we would make a mistake than a computer would. Actually. But the Tesla liability law requires drivers to have one hand on the wheel at all times during autopilot and keep awareness of their surroundings (it is autopilot, not autonomous).

I am curious when Tesla will start using inductive chargers - so you just pull up next to it or over it and it will charge your battery automatically instead of plugging it in.
@johnpuccetti93838 жыл бұрын
It could just be me, but I find the charging part to be the least appealing thing about EVs. I own a Toyota Prius, and one of the brilliant things about the arrival of that vehicle for many owners was the realization that they had to go to the gas station about half as often as with a non-hybrid car, saving both money and time, but more importantly lessening their cognitive load. I rarely think about whether I need to get gas.
@KURTrek8 жыл бұрын
John Puccetti charging the model S is like charging your phone, you just plug it in when you get home
@johnpuccetti93838 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember 100 amp breaker for each car. WOW. With Tesla money is no object right.
@KURTrek8 жыл бұрын
John Puccetti the thing about EVs is that you never have to go to a place like a gas station, or a super charger station. You can just fill it up when you get home, so there is little to zero thinking about it after you install a larger charger system. I personally would rather fill my car up with electricity then disgusting liquid juice from the ground.
@johnpuccetti93838 жыл бұрын
I totally get what you are saying. I want off fossil fuel also. But the an expensive status car that is really a sports car is not the answer. The electric utilities are a state sponsored monopoly and they will pollute with no remorse. The goal is to go off grid a Tesla can never help do that.
@KURTrek8 жыл бұрын
John Puccetti Really? "a Tesla can never help do that". It's a fully electric car! You never took a second to even think about that statement. You could have a stationary battery system with solar panels and charge your car from the Sun's energy. You can't do that with any other type of car... period! I don't care if coal can generate electricity - Of course it can! You can also generate electricity from the Sun. Have ya watched Tesla's last announcement that they are releasing a solar roof with powerwall? That product is an automatic stab at the utility monopolies. So what I am basically trying to say is, I agree with you... I am sorry if I came across as aggressive, the internet does that to people some how.
