the response to the model 3 just shows what an utter shambles the other auto manufacturers have made of producing an electric car .. with the possible exception of the leaf; probably the least hopeless of the bunch, at least going by sales up til this point ... i hope the other manufacturers are kicking themselves right about now, because they should be

+John P The other manufacturers are just vulture capitalists sitting on a profit engine and regularly "oiling" it with marketing and modular add-ons. They just churn out different body and interior plastic styles every year as if they're f***ing clothing brands. They're not even in competition with Tesla. At least the Asian makers stepped up with some hybrids, but the rest are dinosaurs that deserve to die.

+fullychargedshow The UK max gov electric car grant as it stands is £4500. I had managed to impress and convince 3 of my work colleagues to reserve Tesla Model 3 on the day of its release; thinking it'll cost us from 20k (including grant) to max 50k. If in the UK 2017/18 Model 3 will cost more than that :( then I think we better off buying used Model S 85 (at present 48k to 55k range from AutoTrader), more interior space, wider/longer chassis base for drive comfort and free superchargers for life, right? :)

+Vincent Maturo interestingly prior to the invention of copyright this was how most books were funded. A wealthy patron would put up the money and the books were free to copy. It's interesting to see the world moving back to that model in some ways with the addition of crowdfunding instead of single source.
@LoanwordEggcorn
@LoanwordEggcorn 8 жыл бұрын
+Anton Maes Indeed. Crowd funding in some ways is even better since it allows many more people to participate. It's a good thing.
@KuraIthys
@KuraIthys 8 жыл бұрын
+Anton Maes Mmh. And copyright itself didn't start out being in the interests of the authors themselves. (Arguably isn't particularly in their favour in the modern world either, given who gets most of the power in practice, but that's a side issue). Since the earliest known copyrights were handed out to printing presses, and the people that actually wrote the books being published had no rights to them whatsoever. I wonder if we'll ever get to a point where the rules are actually fair to everyone, and not just a handful of large corporations capable of hoarding copyrights for well past the lifespan of any living person... Probably not. XD
@LoanwordEggcorn
@LoanwordEggcorn 8 жыл бұрын
KuraIthys Patreon seems pretty fair to producers and consumers of content.
@KuraIthys
@KuraIthys 8 жыл бұрын
Loanword Eggcorn It seems alright. But it basically mirrors the situation that existed before copyright laws did. The copyright laws themselves are not especially fair. Patreon arguably could exist with or without them though.

I got my Model 3 two weeks ago. It is everything I hoped it would be. An incredible car that drives as smooth and quiet as possible. I can add that it is ridiculously quick. Mine cost more than $35K since I had to get the bigger battery and the premium features to receive the car now. The $35K car will arrive in early 2019. Tesla will have no problem selling 500,000 of these cars around the world every year. They are just that good.

All the people I meet here in France see Ségolène Royal's announcement as a ludicrously laughale publicity stunt with zilch chance of achieving success or even credibility. Cleaning and converting the nuclear site at Fessenheim powerstation will take 25 to 30 years. Elon Musk is famous for having a warped sense of time, but warped in the the other direction whereby he always sets targets that are impossibly early. Utterly incompatible. Keep on trucking ! What would have been better is if they used one of the many new battery technologies that aren't as explosive and can store tons of energy in small spaces so in the end it could go thousands of miles and charge in an hour. With low oil prices too ^^ because they are "Better" to those who see the bigger picture. Solar Panels + Electric Car (solar power absorber) = Awesome! Clean tech combo The Tesla Model S proved that electric cars can be better than gas powered cars ! The Mode 3 brings the S tech to 4x more people! Gigafactory FTW

Clean tech to use but the battery you use and the type of mining involved to dig up the rare earth metals is extremely environmentally toxic. One mine in China uses ammonium sulfate to dissolve the sandy clay in the mine and then use several acid baths to get at the metals to make the batteries. Only 0.2% of what is dug up is used and your left with 99.8% of the earth now contaminated with toxic chemicals. Other mines use different processes but still end with coal fired furnaces for the final baking stage. The greenhouse gas emission footprint for the manufacture of an electric vehicle is pretty big during its birth. Then all the hassle of battery pack recycling , yup they can be recycled but there of course will still be waste. I agree though during its life its clean to use but people seem to forget that electric cars all contribute their fair share of pollution and greenhouse gases at the moment.

Okay but...the pollution that green cars emit is NOTHING compared to ICE cars. Oh, and also. The battery tech is super efficient. auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-efficiency/vehicles/how-green-are-automotive-lithium-ion-batteries.htm
@Richie5903
@Richie5903 8 жыл бұрын
Spacey ace The pollution the cars emit is zero ... no one disputes that its a far cleaner driving method ... but only if the car is charged with renewable sources. If you cant charge your car using a green source , you might as well be driving a normal car. Electric doesnt just come out of a socket all clean and planet happy if your not getting it from the sun. And the batteries are batteries ... 10 - 15 years and you wont be getting the same range from your electric car as you do when its new. So thats going to mean a battery bank replacement and by then you better hope that battery recycling has improved far beyond what it is now to keep things clean.

If I had been paid to say that I would have said 'this is a paid for commerical.' I lease my car from this company, I pay the full lease amount, no discounts. They didn't pay me to say anything but the owners are friends and I support what they are trying to do. In future I am making a couple of episodes which are supported by different companies and it will be made very clear that the episodes are effectively commercials. Transparency is very important, especially on KZbin.
