Hi! I just got a job at Waterstones and I start next week which I'm SO excited about! But one thing I'm quite anxious about is not having any recommendations for customers with really specific tastes! Like if somebody asks me for a good fiction book about spies for example I really don't know what I would say! Is that a thing you get in trouble for or is it totally normal/accepted to ask other colleagues if they have any ideas? Hi! This video was very helpful! I can see it was from one year ago, I hope you still work at Waterstones. I’m preparing myself for an interview for on of the branch in London and I’m looking for some tips and advice to help me to get the job. I’m working in retail for more than 15 years so I’m pretty confident about my skills. I’m a little nervous about the book knowledge… I love reading but do not have so much time to do it so I’m not updated about the latest in books or what is on trend at the moment…. Is it okay for you if I ask you some questions about it? It will be more than appreciated as I really struggled to find anything online… Let me know! Thank you!

Hiya! If you walk into any Waterstones, you can ask who you can email your CV to and they should forward it to any Waterstones in your area who are hiring - hope this makes sense!

Hi, Im thinking about applying to waterstone this summer, but my only issue is that I read mainly on wattpad, so Im not fammiliar with like the classic book you should have read that can be find ina book store, do you have any recommendation? So I don't get hambarassed during the interview😅

As long as you read any books in a bookstore you're good - doesn't have to be classics!

Hi, I had a question. If I passed my final grade (which is class 12th in my country) in June, would it mean that the UCAS application I am writing now would be considered as a part of a "gap year"? Usually, students apply when they are in class 12th, but I didn't do so due to the prevailing uncertainties regarding the pandemic. Any help would be much appreciated. I plan to submit my application soon-ish (after I get my IELTS results in a few days).

If you're applying to start in 2022 and you graduated in 2021 then yes that would be a gap year

Hey see in an interview would you let them know if your currently working at another job or not?

You don't need to necessarily but the job will likely be an immediate start so if you have to give a notice period I would let them know!
