Being Guide for me sucked and it wasn’t really worth it. It depends on what you want out of the Corps and what I wanted out of the Corps didn’t even out when I was Guide. So I left it alone. I was already PFC going in and being promoted to Lance coming out of Boot Camp is simply impossible these days, as it should due to the PME requirements for E-3 and Lance Corporal Seminar in the USMC etc. So to me it’s for the 18-19 year olds fresh out of High School who don’t have a professional background and want to feel good about themselves which isn’t wrong and I highly encourage them to take on that challenge that helps them confidence wise more than it could for a resume etc. By the way, no one in the Fleet or in Garrison cares about you being Guide in Boot Camp. It won’t do much to your composite score when you’re going for LCPL.
@WithoutAnyChances5 жыл бұрын
Fucking facts, I was seen as the "fuck up" in boot because I dropped from 2nd BTN to 1st BTN. No one really liked me but I did what I needed to due and passed boot, MCT, schoolhouse and whatnot. While some of them are still PFC's im a Lance now. Rah.

@g3ultra5 жыл бұрын
It's not good to be the first guide in your platoon. The first one or two usually get fired. Same with squad leaders. I was the scribe in my platoon. That's a good job to have because you know exactly what's coming up on the schedule. Every minute of every day is planned out. The scribe knows what's coming up before the drill instructors because you write out their daily schedules on index cards for them. At least that's how it was then. Got meritorious promotion for it too.

There are mostly two kinds of Marines, Green or Dark Green. After my 8 years , one war and serving OUR COUNTRY, I miss the fact that the Marine Corps is the least racist organization I ever worked in. I EAS ‘d on an early out when Clinton declared no more Wars. Within weeks thereafter I was kind of lost seeing racial shit from all sides. End of Soliloquy

Never aspire to be the guide, the guide is the easiest to control and the biggest drill instructor ho, aspire to be yourself and focus on what you learn in your classes, they are more important than rifle marksmanship, but drill is more important than everything you will ever learn in boot camp. Drill is the conclusion of ones pride and character as a Marine to beat of Esprit de Corps. Love your Mother or don't join the Marines, that is the message of true Marines to kids wanting to kill things outside before they've killed their fear and anger inside

When I as a boy, there was not any permanent record of you doing anything above or beyond the dude that volunteered for nothing. After basic and depending on your MOS there will be a time to set your self apart to be a real leader but basic recruits is NOT it. "Please sir may I have another!!!"

I'm not proud of what I am seeing with my Marine Corp, we are known for our brother hood and traditions. I never saw a female Marine wear dress blues like a male Marine when I saw that I was shocked. I love the Corp but I don't love what I see , Semper Fi to my Marine Corp.
