TEDx Talks

Күн бұрын

Franck Gazzola swapped a suit & tie for a camera and wetsuit and followed his passion to be an adventure & documentary photographer in some of the harshest conditions in the world, from documenting the freezing waters under the polar sea ice to actually sleeping in the Pacific ocean for four days. But what came with that was a sharp lesson on what it takes to be brave, and it’s not what you think. From under the polar ice or up to 6’000 meters altitude, adventure & documentary photographer Franck Gazzola brings back images from the roads less travelled and angles less often seen. Only years later, after travelling the world during a successful corporate career, he picked up a camera again. Quickly, his passion became his full-time career, but more importantly he found a great sense of purpose in documenting inspiring stories. He is currently in charge of the imagery & the documentary/editorial photography for the ''Under The Pole III'' expedition, a groundbreaking underwater exploration expedition that traversed the globe from the frozen waters of the Arctic to the deep blue waters of the Pacific from 2017 to 2021.
Franck is also a public speaker who shares his experience, passion, and on-field stories not only about his Photography but also about the radical changes he went through swapping his suit & tie for a camera backpack, hiking shoes, and diving tanks. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

From our first meeting in a local coffee shop I knew that we needed this guy for TEDxByronBay. His story inspires us to go after what we want with all the energy we can muster. And even when we achieve our goals, there are still challenges from left of field that we must face with new reserves of courage.

Courage is fear that says its prayers! I love that, Thankyou 💐♦️ Doing the spade work - this needs to be done!! Not just praying and hoping and wishing!! Being brave and courageous is being ready to begin again and again! Fear is a condition that can precipitate courage and a trust that the journey gives its own rewards beyond imagining! And wisdom is able to recognise this!

As the speaker says, being brave is having the courage to go out of the conformable zone and be a beginner again and again. However, brave should be supported by risk management that can identify potential risks and then take proper measures to reduce those risks.
