What It Was Like 1977 Memorial Stadium Baltimore

Some sense of what it was like at a Baltimore Colts game in the mid 1970's.
This game against the Detroit Lions was in front of only 45, 124 fans, and Baltimore lost 13 - 10.
The Colts had a hard time selling out even though the team was winning division titles at the time...
Bob Irsay had begun openly shopping the team by, at latest, 1976. So, I think this, as well as his chaotic style, really turned off Colts' fans. Colts fans were used to winning and a team that was competently run. We weren't used to a boob like Bob Irsay!!
Memorial Stadium was also awful, as you can tell by the massive amount of bench and individual wooden chair seating in the different scenes of this vid. Much of the seating was no better than at the avg high school!
Anyway... the move was meant to be... as it gave us our beloved and respectable owner... Steve Bisciotti and his Baltimore Ravens!!

The sudden loss was shocking but it actually improved the Colts' playoff scenario.

I was at the double overtime playoff loss on Christmas Eve against Oakland. I was only 16. They were right, the lack of first and second down imagination killed them.

Was there, too, & I was 12. Casper caught the Ghost To The Post right in front of us at about the Baltimore 25 yard line. We were in the lower deck just inside the upper deck, behind the Raiders bench...

Why show a losing game to show off the old stadium. Don’t make sense.

Because the game isn't the topic, the experience of being at one is & there aren't any that I am aware of... that give the sideline and spectator views that this one does... I just put up a video that shows off the Baltimore fans at Memorial Stadium in a winning game, but that is an NFL Films put together clip. This one has " live " scenes from Memorial Stadium, not spliced together ones. That's why. Thanx!!
