It was going over 60 miles per hour. Imagine flying through the air at 60 miles per hour. It doesn't matter where you were sitting in the limousine. The 17 people in the back collectively we're over 3,000 pounds. All smashing into each other and into the partition. Framing of the limo crumbled. The engine block smashed into the compartment that everybody was sitting in. Some of them were decapitated. First Responders had to break people's bones just to get bodies out. Not everybody died instantly sadly. A few of them died on the way to the hospital. Just because it is a long limo doesn't mean anything. It's just like if you're in an airplane. Your chances of being in the back might be greater of surviving but it doesn't guarantee it. Everybody in that limo flew to the front upon impact and the front crumbled around them

I can't believe some of these comments here. Everybody wondering how they all died and nobody walked away? Please give me a break. We're talking gross weight of the vehicle at around 11 to 12,000 lbs. The 18 passenger weight almost another 3000 lbs. Then all that weight coming to a dead stop at 60mph. and everybody smashed into an area roughly 5h. x 5w. Result: massive head, spinal, internal injuries. bleeding and suffocation Those people inside that vehicle were in hideous condition and probably unrecognizable at first sight. May they all rest in peace in a better world than this. My heart goes out to them and their families and friends.

I used to drive a stretch Excersion that sat 15. It was MASSIVE. it weighed as much as a dang tank. The brakes, were GIANT, NOT STOCK! All 4 were disc brake systems, no drums on the back. As the driver, if I EVER felt the vehicle wasnt safe, I would stop. We had an old excaliber limo for weddings, special events. One time I was driving and I pulled off the side of the interstate, with a bridal party in the back, becasue the front wheel was wobbling VERY BAD. I got out and looked at it, couldnt see anything wrong. Called the owner. They sent the Excersion limo I was talking about earlier and we had to swap out on the side of I-20. Ended up the front wheel was about the fall off. The reason i stopped is I thought, I'm going 60 MPH, if the front tire comes off, how will i control this hot dog with 10 people inside of it.

Inertia remember you're always in motion. Limos don't have crumple zones so all that energy from the crash (depending on how bad it is) has to go somewhere and that being you don't forget when you're packed into a limo there's really no room to move.

A few years ago something similar happened in my country. 17 people inclyding adults and children we're on a bus coming from a funeral when the brakes malfunctioned and plunged of the precipice into the sea killing everybody including the driver. One child's body was never found.

I rode in a limo to my grandma’s funeral in May and it wasn’t a stretch limo but I felt safe in it because their were rows of seats rather than just a circle of seats - the driver was very nice and was a good driver - he drove at a perfect safe speed when we were on the highway - I felt super safe with him as the driver !
