karl watson is the nicest dude. i was at the wells fargo in oakland with my board and he just rolled up and started talking to me like i knew him forever. i was pretty star struck, i had posters of him on my wall as a kid. he complimented my necklace and i just gave it to him. He followed my IG and showed love after. I dont know if he realized how much of an impact that short convo had on me.

Dope story. I hit him up on IG and he said a 9 club was in the works 💪

I lived in SF in about 1998 and I used to skate all over. I heard lots of good stories about Karl Watson, like this guy has earned good merits for his deeds for years. I skated with a homeless kid who could SHRED and he told me how Karl Watson took him in for the night and made him breakfast. Dudes an angel I guess.

A friend and I used to take a bus down from Marin to skate EMB. We never had any problems with anyone but maybe because we were only twelve when we started going. But our tactic was just to stay out of their way and if someone asks you for a cigarette, you give it to him. Five years later when I started skating again, we'd hit up those blocks down the street towards the bay bridge. Everyone seemed pretty nice there too. What I remember most about EMB though are the fucking bricks. I can still feel them clacking under my feet.

EMB was a cool spot, I skated it a couple of times in its peak days in the nineties. The worn in brick sound was a cool iconic experience to skate. Must of been lucky timing because it was chill and no locals only ill vibe going on.
