This aligns very well with how God presented himself to me when I prayed to be convinced of his existence if he exists.

Isn't it strange how people introduce themselves as ordained? Which is to say "Man has approved of me". Who ordained Jesus? Who ordained Paul? Who ordained Isaiah or Jeremiah? Not man. Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit says the LORD. I'm happy I was not raised in the church and that I am not an ordained minister. The Holy Spirit is my teacher and my approval comes from our heavenly father.

6:43 I feel like this is at least an oversimplification. 'Conquer' in verse 7 seems most closely related to conquering over death. And death was conquered by Christ. So then we conquer through our belief in Christ as our savior. I agree that conquer also has an active meaning relating to love as you mentioned in verse 4, but I don't think it's fair to say this text says doctrine is unimportant.

@@jacobstern4630 completely agree. Definitely not trying to undercut the importance of doctrine, but rather emphasize that an over emphasis on proper doctrine at the EXPENSE of love is the critique from Jesus. The application to today being that are squabbles over this or that point of doctrine aren't insignificant, but if they eclipse our self sacrificial love for others - we'll still end up getting our lampstands removed... even if were perfect doctrinally. Thanks for watching and engaging with your comment!

@@RedeemerOnlineChurch Ahh I understand. I think this makes more sense through your use of the word 'application.' I.e. how does this mean we should act as opposed to what we should believe. Maybe this fits back in with 1 Cor 13 where it suggests numerous gifts or works a person can have w/o having love to motivate it. I can see also where squabbles over fine details in doctrine can consume time that *should* be spent sacrificially loving people through service as opposed to producing a retort. Thank you for your response!
