This is THE #1 topic that the the Church today preaches in error...that a sinner has to “repent of their sins” or be “willing to....” in order to be saved.

Praise the Lord for teaching us this powerful truth that is stopping MANY from being saved. I have seen it. Michael, I don't know how much you read your comments, especially on an old video but, I cannot express to you in words how much your preaching has given me hope and helped me to understand God's word in a much better way. The way you preach makes so much sense to me and I believe, to many others as well! It also helps me to understand human nature, that we are sinful creatures due to the fall. Choosing to turn away from sin and turning to Jesus when we fail is our only hope! I have hope in my heart because of what you've taught! Thank you sir! God bless you and your family!!

The Greek word aphesin is often translated forgiveness or remission. In studying this word it appears that it would also be reasonable to think of it as releasing a person from control. In other words, when you REPENT(change your mind and believe the Gospel) that freedom from the control of sin is what results. When we use the word remission for cancer it means that the disease has diminished to an undetectable point. So remission of sins means that your sinning is greatly reduced. When the word says that "He shall save his people from their sins" it also means the controlling power of the sin nature not merely saving from punishment. So the point of repentance and faith in Jesus is for gaining freedom from sin (among other things). If someone doesn't want freedom from sin, then I'm not sure why they would care about believing the Gospel.

Exactly!!! I have been trying to tell people this for some time now and i automatically get falsely accused of trying to say it is ok to sin! People have been told by Pastors deacons and everyone else that we must repent of our sins in order to be saved! I always point out to them to notice what the bible says and also what it does not say! Repent and believe the Gospel! Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand! The angels rejoice over one sinner that repents! Repent or you will all likewise perish! No where does it say repent of your sins! The new living translation adds "of your sins" but its not in the king James bible! Why is the new living Translators adding words to the bible? We repent and turn to Jesus for salvation! YOU ARE SO RIGHT! IF WE HAD TO REPENT OF ALL OF OUR SINS IN ORDER TO BE SAVED THEN NOBODY WOULD BE SAVED! 👍‍

Isaiah 59:20 says repent of your sins in the NIV. BTW I think your a wonderful teacher and I enjoy listening to you. I listening while I work with my ear buds in. I agree with Micheal Pearl. I really do. But, I think it’s not too hard to believe that Jesus, when he walked the earth before his death burial and resurrection, was preaching a law based doctrine because he was challenging the Jews at that time in their belief that they were keeping the commandments. They didn’t know that their hearts were still wicked and evil before God and Jesus was revealing that they were still falling short of the law. So, In the sermon on the mount he was proving to them just because they haven’t murdered their brother the hate in their heart was as good as murder. Just because they hadn’t committed adultery their lust was as much as the act of adultery. He was showing them they did not have the heart of the father because the windows and orphans were over looked. He was getting to their wicked evil hearts. After Christ resurrected now the gospel could be revealed and preached in its truest sense. Before that it was a mystery to the whole world. He eluded to his eventual sacrifice on the cross so that we would understand later what he meant, but at the time I believe he was still mostly preaching a law based teaching to challenge the Jews in their thinking and prove to them that they could not fulfill the law and that only he could accomplish that for them. Our response to that is definitely repent (change our mind) in our unbelief to belief. Belief that Jesus is the only way to the father. We can’t get there by trying to follow the law and get the sin out of our lives enough.

I think the sorrow part of repentance is being sorrowful for breaking God's heart by rejecting His Son. Maybe the repentance at conversion is sorrowing over rejection the Savior and turning TO the Savior.

Telling a lost person to repent of all their sins before they can come to Christ is actually as Jesus said against the Pharisees, "shutting up the kingdom of heaven against men". The Gospel of John in 20:30,31 says his gospel was written that people might believe and by believing they get eternal life. I believe John never used the word repent or repentance once in his entire gospel so people wouldn't get confused thinking that that was a requirement for eternal life, i.e. "repenting of sins". He did however, use the word believe or belief or faith about 100 times. And of course wrote that under inspiration of the Holy spirit, this is not by accident.

Loved the message overall. But i have a couple questions: What about when Jesus told the woman at the well to go and sin no more? Also, if you don't tell people they are a sinner, regarding the story of witnessing to the prostitute mentioned, then how can they be saved? Isn't it necessary for people to believe they are a sinner in need of the Savior?

I don't recal if Billy Graham mentioned repentance or not, I suspect did, it was not important to me because it was GOD Who was Drawing Me To HIMSELF, HE was looking on my heart and Saved me by HIS Grace.and changed my life. So as I was a new creature and all could see the change. That was 44 years ago. Various people use various words when they are saved, GOD Looks upon their heart and saves them accordingly. It is GOD's doing from start to finish, not nit picking about my words. I cried out to HIM and HE saved me. I was wash by the Blood of the LAMB, ALL my sins were forgiven eternally, (past, present and future).

Hey brother, thank you for your service to Jesus's ministry. I have a couple of questions about baptism. First; for what I understand of the bible, we are to be baptizing in Jesus name, for it's the only name with the power to save, so my question is, Is The name Jesus the correct English translation from the Hebrew name Yeshua? Second; who has the authority to baptize someone? Because they're a lot of false pastors, and I'm afraid for me and my family to be baptized by a false teacher of God's word or someone who doesn't have the authority to do so. Please answer theses questions if you can. Thanks.

Jesus and the apostles ( except for Paul) preached to Jews only, in their synagogues, the gospel of the Kingdom Matt 9:35. That is, he gospel of the kingdom of heaven, which John the Baptist preached, " Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand " Matt 3:2. The Jews rejected Jesus and his Kingdom. We gentiles were never part of that preaching of repentance and baptism. Jesus said to his apostles " Go not into the way of the gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying The kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 10: 5-7. After Christ's death on the cross for our sins, his burial, and resurrection, Paul was chosen to bring the gospel of salvation by grace to the gentiles. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Rom 10:9. See the difference between that gospel of salvation and the kingdom gospel of salvation in John 3:16?

Nor Abram having disobeyed God's way, and thoughts imparted to later to obedience as Abraham. Having been found counted righteous, because Abraham had faith in the promise.Though Jacob wrestled with God, and said to have power with Elohim, and men, now as Isreal. From which the promised seed of the Woman was to come. Everything hinges on Faith first, then seeking it out in scripture having the Holy Spirit to guide you, and teach you, and doing the things you read. For if knowing the Holy Bible, every chapter and verse, having done none other than speak on it, what worth does that have? Jesus even preached better to teach without words😁. Which means acts of kindness, righteous living, honest dealings, ect. are for the Kingdom, and King thereof. As if they're here already. Why Jesus said seek first the Kingdom of Heaven, and all other things will be added unto you; and that the Kingdom of Heaven was within, literally where the Holy Spirit is supposed to be. As it was with Adam and Eve before the fall.

All mormans catholics and 90% of christian churches teach repentance, Thats how much false gospel is around, very very few people teach trust alone or faith alone in jesus blood, we are few and far apart, and sadly the deception is high, repent from sin is " of yourselves " its an action and makes you feel proud. I exposed repent from sin inside the independent Baptist church and get kicked out, as far as i know 95% of independent Baptist churchs teach this false gospel as well so so so sad, yet i keep fighting for the truth

If you keep reading he says “and when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves are cast out. The Pharisees think the law of Moses is what saves them yet all those prophets will be in heaven Because of Gods grace and faith not the law of Moses

Yep jesus said repent from keeping the commandments because being good wont save you come believe in me and i will save you If you have the wrong belief you go to hell, god sees the heart you must have the right belief :)
