As we continue to utilize the rented excavator to make infrastructure improvements on the property, I wanted to utilize something that I had learned from Joel Salatin by visiting his farm and even speaking with him from time to time. As we make improvements to the land, we should consider all the different place we can hold water for future use.

Wranglerstar comment made me chuckle. He's different. You should try overalls sometime. My go to is Liberty brand. It's all I wear. Enjoyed the video as usual

I'm not sure what the mosquito situation is like up there. But all that standing water looks terrifying to me down here in Florida.

Slow spread sink store. How much you need to do of each depends on your site, and what you're trying to do with it.

I found myself looking for moss. Water and shade should produce moss? As J Franklin asked aren't you worried about mosquitos reproducing in the ditches?

I’d be interested in seeing what this looks like after the first significant precipitation event and then again after the spring rainy season. It’s definitely a cool way of controlling the run-off.

As stated before, your land management videos are some of my favorite. Keep them coming. Do you have issues with mosquitos in your area? Never heard you talk, swat, or complain about mosquitos or ticks?

There something about moving dirt that's rewarding, I always enjoyed it. Nice access to your property now, I see that your dad enjoys playing with the big boy toys. I enjoy watching most channels where it involves shooting, house repair, or improving your land.

Caution in some states, as after you do this, the state can come in and tell you that you now have a wetland, and they can section off an area of no further disturbance forever, including a buffer zone as well. I agree its a wonderful idea, for lots of reasons, just understand your local governance, codes, and likelyhood of intrusion on your property rights.

Bentonite Montmorillonite (Koi Clay) is a cheap powder that koi breeders use to seal their ponds. It has excellent mineral content. Just sprinkle the powder on the soil or on the top of the water. If you get any standing water you can add Azolla. Is is excellent food source for livestock and people (in a crunch). -KJ

I'd like to see your overview plan to see, other than experimental, why things are being done where they are being done. Do you have a 5 year plan, a 10 year plan? I'm just wondering what your thought process in placing roads, culverts or anything out in the hinterlands of your property. I have seen plans but never really seen how people go from site map to planning to implementation. I don't need a college education about it, just a quick overview. Thanks
