to put peek a boo in short, the storyline is that they're witches and they sacrifice men, and they are easily able to do that through delivery services. throughout the mv they are preparing to sacrifice another hence the weapons and them practicing a séance type thing with the candles. (where joy was in the middle and then the delivery guy.(3:27 and 3:40) ) they are able to lure men in with their beauty. you can tell they've been doing this for a long time by the amount of pizza boxes and cases that have delivery uniform shirts in them. ( 3:57 and 3:59)

++ they carry out the sacrifice only during the full moon! That's why they kept practicing with their weapons throughout then finally hunted the pizzaman at the end when the full moon arrived. They also like to toy with their prey -- each member will take turns to "save" the victim (4:22 to 4:39 the member running out with him keeps changing) and pretend to help him escape, and the girls also pretend to miss when they aim their weapons at him but they will kill him eventually :')

I think there's a theory about the "Power Up" MV that says that Irene killed (or made something with) the other girls. And you can see it when the representative colors of Wendy, Seulgi, Yeri and Joy get disolved in the glass that *Irene* is holding. And in the "Peek-A-Boo" MV it's literally a murder. Strange and clever, huh? Red Velvet's MVs can be so creepy and subliminal sometimes, and we'll love that. 😂

Peekaboo is about them in a cult, they murder pizza boys at the full moon (if you look at the stack of pizza boxes on the table it's all different brands, and they have one of all the pizza uniforms in glass cases in the hallway they run through). It's like a Hitchcock inspired thing! They're practicing during the rest of the month waiting for the full moon (you can see the transition through the video of the phases of the moon). You feel like it's a trap because it is. ;) Most people think that Peekaboo is a mix of Red and Velvet concepts! Power Up is a great summer bop, I love it! And Wendy is a bias wrecker for real!

Peekaboo is, strictly speaking, uptempo and a "red" song". Having or not having a horror aspect is an independent aspect, a second axis, and if you graph it out like a two-dimensional number line, they have songs in all four quadrants. So they actually have a dual-dual concept!

wow thank you for reacting to this! these were 2 good picks to react to because of the contrast lmao. imo almost all rv titles give creepy vibes in some kinda way (either musically or visually) in peekaboo its very clear - the girls basically lure pizza delivery drivers to the house and hunt them for fun (most likely as part of some cult/witch ritual) , the house is filled pizza boxes and shirts which is creepy too. im not sure if there's an overall storyline for rv but ive heard a lot of people say they are the red force in exos concept which would be really interesting (brother/sister group vibes) also id say that peekaboo is a mix of red and velvet instead of just red (but still leaning towards red). i really love power up but i feel like it doesn't get the appreciation it deserves, everyone was expecting badass vibes after they got a wave of popularity with bad boy (internationally in particular) so i think that people who didn't know about the dual concept didnt love power up but i think it's really cute even if the chanting gives me creepy vibes as always lmao.

SM Station songs aren't special clips in the way that Dreamcatcher special clips are, they aren't covers I think the idea was that it was just a way for the idols to release more music without the pressure of promotions and everything else that comes with a new song. Iirc, Taeyeon's Rain which you've already reacted to was the first ever Station release. And I know Wheein was part of an SM Station collab - the most recent SM Station 'season' was all dedicated to BoA, mostly other idols covering her hits, idt BoA herself has put out anything new this season of Station. So it might be something you may wish to check out with your history with Queen BoA. Just wanted to clear that up as it sounded like you were assuming they were covers like the DC special clips.

peek a boo storyline is about five witches that goes into hunting mode when its full moon, so the easiest way to get sacrifices is through pizza delivery. in the mv, you can see many pizza boxes, meaning this is not their first time. they make him believe that the girls actually like him being there and start to become more and more comfortable around them, you can see them chasing him, playing and so on. but when the clock strikes midnight, the hunting begin. as you can see when the blindfolded is off, first you can see wendy, then joy, seulgi, irene and yeri. all of them are holding his hands while running out of the house all at one time, when yeri shoot the arrow, the arrow graze his cheek, so when one of the girls who followed him out of the house, she can take him down by herself because the arrow have poison which can weaken him. and if you notice closely at the end, when the pizza delivery guy is making a call for help, you can read a poster saying 'missing delivery boys'. sorry if my english is bad, but all of these is just my speculation so feel free to add anything

Peek-a-Boo is actually not a "Red" song it's a "Red Velvet" concept. Although Red Velvet does have a Red and Velvet side, just these past few years they also introduced a "Red Velvet" side which is a mix of the two. These would be songs like Peek-A-Boo, Really Bad Boy, and Zimzalabim. They are in between since they're upbeat but the concept of their music videos are still kind of dark. I hope this helps!

I would argue that RV concepts should be treated like a two-dimensional x-y graph, with red vs. velvet (peppy vs. laid-back) on the x-axis and horror-influenced vs. normal on the y-axis, and they have songs in all four quadrants.
