I've seen The Matrix somewhere between 7 to 9 times in the movies, each time with different people... I'm also one of those who loved Reloaded and Revolutions. Are they perfect? No! But still, they are great movies in my opinion... In regards to Matrix Resurrections, I'm equally nervous and excited... But no matter what people might be saying, I'll shoot for a viewing in the movies the very first week for sure!

I was 26 in 1999 & this movie was mind-blowing, I had to watch it a twice in order to absorb all the new information & concepts I was trying to wrap my head around while trying to follow the story-line. I found the special-effects amazing & all the movies Mind-blowing. It actually help me realize there is more to the single-minded, man-made, socially constructed world I had been unknowingly living in for 26 years. So I gave up living a lie & decided to live a life I wanted to rather than do what I think others want me to do with my life, like my partner, mother or grown daughter.

The typical Prince charming kiss to bring him back to life seems silly but if you think about it ...he only got shot in The matrix ,in the spaceship where they're at.... His physical ears and brain can hear what she's saying and that's what makes him hear her out of the "dream world matrix" and realize that he's not dead and so his brain started his heart again.

I was lucky enough to watch this in theaters. There was a sense that movies had all of a sudden "leveled up". You could feel the cultural shift. Everyone had a copy of this movie. @@BaddMedicine Yeah, this movie was the talk of the town around the water cooler for quite some time in those days, especially in SoCal where I'm from. It just nails a bit of everything, so all groups were trying to "clam it as their own", like, if you were a philosopher type, this movie justified you, if you were Judeo-Christian, you bought into all the illusions of savior Christ and scriptural references, if you were paranoid about government and growing technology in those days it spoke to you, it was a fairytale for those who like sleeping beauty kisses at the end. Like, there was a little something in it for everyone.

The Oracle never said he was not the one. Neo said it and she said she was sorry, but not what she was sorry about. People just assume she was sorry to tell him he wasn't the one, but it's more likely she was sorry that he was the one, but he didn't think he was and didn't want to hear he was the one.

it's hard to explain to today's audience what a futuristic epic experience it was to watch this in 1999 and it was such mindfuck lol. the idea was so revolutionary and people were really coming out of the cinema like: omg are we in the Matrix right now?!?! 👀🤣🤣🤣 especially since people were not used back than to ideas of abstract or virtual realities...also the fighting scenes and effects were never before seen too and so ahead of it's time. such a classic! After watching quite a few of the Matrix reactions videos, it's interesting to see the various things the reactors focus on. I think because it excels in all these different areas is why it's so popular with so many people.

I still remember getting this on VHS for my birthday the year it released. My aunt got it for me because I had asked for it, but she didn’t realize it was rated R until I opened it up and people were passing it around reading the synopsis on the back of the sleeve. I was only 9 or 10 but thankfully my parents just decided to watch it with me the first time through to make sure it wasn’t like a hard R rated movie. After that, I watched it so much that I eventually wore out the tape because it was my favorite movie and I had never seen anything else like that before in my young life. I honestly couldn’t even begin to imagination how big a part it played in my growth as a person from that point on, leading me to read more into different life philosophies, learning about AI, coding, hacking, even something simple just like Techno/EDM, and god knows what else. There’s no telling how significant the ripple effect from seeing this movie at that point in my life shaped who I’ve become today. One of my all time favorites. A classic.

One of the greatest movies of all time. It's the first time the inspiration of anime came into a mainstream movie (the wachowskis were directly inspired by ghost in the shell 1995, another genre defining classic film, which is even more obvious on the Animatrix) So many ideas about the nature of the human mind, consciousness, systemic oppression and systems of control, AI and the future of technology. It's stuff that's still very relevant today, even more so now that these things are even more part of our daily lives. Thank you folks for reacting to it!

Even crazier, not a lot of people noticed that the subsequent DVD's and Blu-Rays they exaggerated the green even more to match up with Reloaded and Revolution. I really liked Elrond in this movie. And i really like the expression on people's faces when they realise either "oh shit Elrond was Agent Smith" or "Oh shit Agent Smith is Elrond" depending which movie they're watching when they see it. Also great is that the Oracle was right about everything she told Neo, if you think about it. "It looks like you're waiting for something... your next life, maybe" goes with the follow-up of "You're going to have to make a choice. In the one hand, you'll have Morpheus's life, and in the other hand, you'll have your own. One of you is going to die. Which one will be up to you." Then he dies, and comes back, and in his next life, he's the one.

I`m a huge fan of "The Terminator & The Matrix", and I loved your reaction. It`s a pity I`m one year late but THANK YOU! I remember the time when "The Matrix" was released. It divided people into lovers and haters of this movie. The haters were those who didn`t understand it. It was always a good feeling to meet a new Matrix Lover :))) Probably someone already commented on this, but I have to mention it anyway. Many still don`t know that The Mother of "The Terminator" and "The Matrix" is the genius writer Sophia Stewart, who wrote her book in the 80s. You can google her and take a look at her magnificent personal story. Her idea was stolen from her. But she had the gut to fight back. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger called her and offered her $50,000 shush-up money. But she turned him down and went to court. Against all odds, she won! Also, Neo didn`t choose this alias by accident. When you mix the letters N E O, you get O N E. This means that it was clear from the start that he was "The ONE" 😎:)

Pretty much every1 who saw The Matrix when it came saw it at least a second time to understand what actually happened 🙂 Morpheus didn't speak in riddles, he was explaining that they are essentially in a computer program and said things in a way that Neo(as a hacker) would understand "Reality" is nothing but electrical impulses in the brain, so reality can be created or altered by the correct "input" and Neo just needed to understand how this specific program was working Cyphers actor(Joe Pantoliano) is so freaking good, he is in a couple of other classics: "La Bamba" and "Memento"

If u guys have not watched Babylon, u should give it a watch. It goes thru the motions the birth of film, cinema and Hollywood celebrities. At the end, there is a nod to the matrix and it gives me chills because of how it ties in to the Babylon story and the meaning behind it. And it does it all in a single flash. Matrix will always be iconic and still holds up well today. I was so blown away by the matrix. I was a junior in high school. Didn't fully understand it but the visuals were ground setting and I was blown away. My friend even ran up the walls of the theater hallways. He was on the athletic side which made it even funnier

I just watched all three movies couple of days ago in one setting and holy shit I forgot how good this shit was. One of the best stories ever told. And not to forget the CGI on this for 90's CGI is just top notch! I first watched it when I was kid and loved it even more as an adult.

When people got out of the Theatre at the movie's release, they where all like looking around them and at each others. Almost like they where questioning if what they where seeing was real or if they where in the Matrix... Wich was funny to see.

as a trans person, after the directors explained how, to the core, they expressed their *trans-ness* through this movie, let me tell u, i never had such a breathe of fresh air after rewatching it and GETTING it. its simply amazing, how they told their story through a looking glass that could grab the regular everyday movie watchers, showing the trans mind without telling u hey im trans. i cant. just, bravo Wachowskis ♥. it became what it became cause it reached the core of the mind.

I watched this in cinema when I was 12. My sister, 19, had gone the week before and now dragged me and the whole family in to watch for a second time. And yes sure, it’s cool to see Dave’s reaction now but… watching it today just can’t carry the same punch as it did in 1999 when the effects and the story were GROUNDBREAKING. Never before seen fights like this. I remember during the hotel lobby gunfight, I gripped my sister’s hand and looked at her with my jaw dropped and mouthed “What. the. fuck??!!!” And she smiled knowingly at me because she knew exactly how I felt. Never before and never since have I had such a visceral, physical reaction to a scene in a movie. Dave’s sitting there like “Oh that’s pretty cool”, because cinema has advanced so much since 1999. It’s understandable ofc but it also… bugs me, haha. FEEL WHAT I FELT, GODDAMNIT!!!!! 😅

Something most people I know missed, Switch calls Neo Copper Top in the car under the bridge. 12:12 explains why, but by the time you get there you're so in to what's going on it's likely forgotten she said that to him before the bug removal excitement. Rewatching sheds so much light on so many behaviors and other details. I went 9 times when it was in theatres, still one of my top favorites today.

Not sure if this has been addressed, I haven’t read all the comments, but I’ve been watching this film for years since I first saw it in 1999. To start, it is steeped in philosophy, from beginning to end. The book that “Mr Anderson” kept his hacking discs was Simulacra and Simulacrum, first of all. Not to mention the majority of his happenstance is based on the Gnostic Gospels. But I digress… my main point, from a storytelling and subtle perspective, is that when Neo met the Oracle, he was NOT the one. And then she gave him a cookie. And upon leaving, she said that once he ate that cookie he would feel right as rain. My theory is that the cookie gave him a form of programming needed to be the ONE, and then he needed to die (get rebooted) for the program to install. Tell me I’m wrong 😂😂

Especially when you consider how many of the effects weren’t CGI. The famous “bullet time” shots were done by using dozens of SLR cameras, located around the green-screen set, with each camera’s shutter released a few milliseconds after the last.

What I love most about this film, and the trilogy overall, is the concept of fate vs choice. The biggest example of this being that the Oracle never actually said that Neo wasn't 'The One'. She gave him the information she knew, it was up to him to interpret it and figure it out for himself. If she had outright told him that he was, would Neo have even really believed it? He had to be the one to figure it out for himself, only then could he be sure. It's like, if you know too much about your own destiny, will you end up actually doing something wrong to end up preventing it? Ultimately it's best you just don't know and decide for yourself what path to take, because you'll always end up where you're meant to be.

Rewatching this time, I just realized the movie "Inception" was inspired by the Matrix too. The scenes where Cobb taught Ariadne how dreams work and how to bend it, it's kind of like the "tutorial scenes" where Morpheus teaches Neo how the Matrix works but instead "believe yourself".
