I laughed when I saw the sign because earlier in the show, Leonard said something sarcastic that Sheldon took literally. Leonard then asked "Do I have to hold up a sign that says 'Sarcasm'?". Sheldon responded by asking Leonard if he had a sign that said 'Sarcasm'. Leonard hung his head and said no. This would set up the scene we just saw above.

Went to school with a Sheldon. Dude was extremally smart but he was like a robot. He had to write down jokes to analyze them to see what made them funny. I think he worked harder at being "human" than actual school work. No joke. Passed him in the hall once and said "Hey John." Like people do. He took out his pen and paper thinking I was about to tell him a joke. I was the Joker in high school. So I asked him what the square root of 255 was. His eyes fluttered for a second and said "15.6987, there are more decimals if you would like to know." I laughed all the way to class. Do not think he ever figured that one out.

Try saying something similar the next time a clerk or waitress gets rude w you, for instance "I have a master's and 2 PhDs physics and you pass items through a register." If the person is arguing w you, add "so let's do it my way." Stops mean ppl in their tracks.
