This is a phenomenal hire for the Seahawks. The Klint Kubiak scheme is a perfect fit for Mike Macdonald's defense, Geno Smith and many of the offensive skill players. Since the first round of interviews, he has been my top choice. In today's episode, we dive into why.

At least in 2025 we will have an experienced nfl oc with a deep playbook. Something we haven’t had since schotty. Excited to see what kubiak can do.

K9 will definitely benefit from an outside scheme with his quickness...frustrating seeing countless HB dives get blown up the past 2 seasons to not utilize his skills properly. Now they just need the tools and buy in to execute this style, time will tell.

Great video! What I love about his as well is that he makes everything look the same. He makes a right side counter look like a left side counter, which sets up the play action. Love the potential here.

@The_Legion_of_12s
@The_Legion_of_12s 5 күн бұрын
I get where you’re coming from, the Seahawks have been cycling through offensive coordinators, but I think this hire is different. Waldron and Grubb were young and unproven and the floor was much lower than I think most hawks fans thought. But Kubiak has done this before. He’s worked with some of the best offensive minds in the game and he’s been an offensive coordinator twice. I think his floor is higher than what Waldron or Grubb brought so that’s why I think this one is different than previous hires.

@The_Legion_of_12s I love my seahawks to death I really wish them the best. But the hunger there is no foundation there's no identity We had 2 defensive players of the week then the Third game didn't see anybody I want to see him do good so bad You see what happened in Houston they went to the playoffs twice You see what happened in Washington I don't think I'm asking for too much I just know that the 3 games we won If it was later in the season we probably would have lost but the 3 games we lost we absolutely should have won I can't wait till next year🤣🤣🤣

Any Wide Receivers you like to potentially replace Lockett? I like Williams from TCU and Noel from Iowa State? Just curious what you are thinking we do
@The_Legion_of_12s
@The_Legion_of_12s 5 күн бұрын
That's a really fun question! I haven't done as much work on the wide receiver class as I would like to answer this but I've liked what I've seen of Xavier Restrepo (very similar Tyler Lockett mold). I will say I'm curious how many 3 wide receiver looks the hawks are going to be in. The Saints ranked 31st in 3 receiver personnel groupings last year while the hawks ranked 3rd. If Kubiak really does want to use more 2 tight end sets (the Saints led the league in them last year) than I think the hawks might focus more on tight end and just have Jake Bobo be the WR3.

I’m not excited to see this same line running outside zone predictably over and over, but anything he can bring to help this run game beyond that is more than welcome. If I may respond to your final point, being innovative and adapting a system to be “yours” as an OC is an added bonus, not the requirement. What we need from the guy is the ability to keep the team on schedule, and consistently executing, particularly early in games when we haven’t scored a first drive TD in over a year and regularly fall behind and only play one decent half of football on average. I need more full games from players, and more complete games from the OC, where you can feel there is a plan of attack not just a system, with thoughtful attention to matchups and gaining mismatches . The best OCs even if they aren’t “innovative” which at best is eeeeextremely rare, can get your best guys on their worst guys, and can you keep the defense on their heels and guessing. Ideally you want to be even able to execute when the defense knows exactly what’s coming, but you saw with the Bills this last playoff game, when you’re obvious in exactly what you’re going to do, a good defense will adapt to stop that. Keeping defenses guessing regardless and not sure what’s coming next is without any doubt the biggest requirement of any OC and the identifier you look for in great candidates. If you can run your dads or friends playbook and keep defenses guessing why wouldn’t you? It just remains to be seen, CAN HE…imo inexperienced OC who hasn’t seen much success is the definition of a Seahawk hire in the past many seasons so, here’s hoping he bucks the trend of being fired by us and then fired again before being run out of the league. Like to me it’s a nepo hire with a name…great. Prove to me you belong, and don’t immediately go try to be a head coach the moment you see the slightest succes. …not to hate just my honest thoughts.

Yeah. Bobos listed at 204 and he’d probably have to get up to 215 or so. But when I was watching Taysom Hill block, I was reminded of Bobo. They block the same way with a ton of passion and more drive than their frame would suggest. Not saying it’s for sure going to happen but it could be interesting…

@@The_Legion_of_12s Isn’t Charb the obvious choice? I'd like to see Metcalf used that way as well
@The_Legion_of_12s
@The_Legion_of_12s 3 күн бұрын
Charb could be a decent blocker there for sure. The downside is if you come out with two running backs on the field, that's a lot more obvious of a formation than if you came out with a receiver or tight end who you use as a fullback. The Saints routinely came in with a couple tight ends and a running back and then just went into empty and spread the defense out. With two running backs who don't really run true routes that wouldn't make much sense. DK would be interesting for sure. I think the hawks would probably say that's not worth it due to the injury risk but it would be fun for him to line up there a couple of times.

Immediately when i heard that Kubiak was hired by the Seahawks my immediate reaction is that they are gonna win 11 games this year. But two things concern me... 1. Klint Kubiak fell off heavily after the first two saints games. 2. Your GM really neglects picking good olineman in the draft.

I’m assuming you’re a Saints fan? If so it’s great to have you here! Thanks for the insight. I totally agree with both of your concerns. Hawks fans can hope that the fall off was just injuries and that John Schneider finally spends money or drafts a top guard but we’ll see. I’m curious what you thought of the offensive line last year. The injuries hit hard there but as an outsider id say it overperformed. Is that accurate?

The Saints had massive key injuries on the offensive side of the ball in 2024. Prefer 12 personnel as a base formation, not a fan of fullbacks in this day and age. Two tightend formations I believe is more versatile.
@The_Legion_of_12s
@The_Legion_of_12s 5 күн бұрын
I probably should’ve clarified but the Saints did play the most from 12 personnel (they led the league in that grouping) They’d just use a tight end (usually Taysom Hill) as the full back. So I do think the hawks might be looking for a blocking tight end to move to more of a fullback role because of the versatility.

I've always had a thing for tight ends & 12 personnel. When Mike Holmgren was still cr coaching the Packers he had Keith Jackson & Mark Chmura. And he would play 12 with them at times very effectively. Of course the Pats under Belichick Had Gronk and Hernandez.
